Geez, Richie Fusco has been around forever. If I'm not mistaken, he's in that famous picture with Sinatra at the Westchester Premier Theatre way back in 1976.

jezus, he changed that much? Well then i have to congratulate Jack Falcone for his great work.

But still after reading his book, i sense a wannabee joe pistone image. Guess all of the undercover agents have that attitude.

damm i wish i can read gangland this week they actually have 3 great articles. The feds are are seeking the death penalty against Vinny Gorgeous which means Massino will probably make his debut as the first turncoat Boss! and Colombo Joel Cacece.

Tommy Shots: They want me running the family, don't they know I have a young wife?
Sal Vitale: (laughs) Tommy, jump in, the water's fine.

Why would you like these guys, let's be honest, they're all killers. But I must admit they are some sort of fascinating.

Excellent take, Sonny. I applaud your ability to display morality without being preachy.

Yes, the are fascinating, from a sociological standpoint, but let's not forget that they're almost all murderers.

i havent read about the demeo crew alot, but one thing is certain. Gas Pipe Casso is far more worse, he killed more then 30 people by hiw own hands. Not counting the many others who did it in the name of casso.

Why i like them? They have class, and something mystic. And yes they are bunch of killers, and didnt do anything good in their life. They didnt work everyday for a living, like we do. But still i like them to a certain degree.

I would like to meet a guy like him, but only if he's behind bars and would never be free again. I would like to ask him questions about how he experienced killing people and why he chose to do that. What the mob life was like etc. Maybe some inside information about his organization. Because these guys are interesting in how they behave and live their life. I don't aprove of killing innocent people, because that's just horrible, but to be honest I don't really care if these guys kill eachother or crooks who deserve it.

and remember they have rules, unlike other ethnic criminal organizations like Russians and many latin groups. No killing of cops, fbi, government, and civillians.

Read Murder Machine, by Jerry Capeci, and you opinion will probably change. Casso was involved in almost 40 murders but the DeMeo crew was an entire crew of serial killers. They were involved in over 100 murders. Many of them killed in the apartment next to the Gemini Lounge, drained in the bath tub, cut up into pieces, and sent to the Fountain Avenue dump.

As far as the American mob goes, that's generally the case. But there have been exceptions to that rule where they have killed civilians, cops, etc. The OC groups over in Italy are more like the Russians and Latin American groups, in that they will kill anyone.

I recieved just that book you mentioned, i am going to read it wink
and yesterday i finished reading Gangbusters, its a good book but the author acts like the mafia is dead and is more like a street gang with low life criminals. I dont agree with that, they are still active with scams involving millions of dollars. And he describes Gaetano Lucchese as one of the best dons of OC. Oh not to forget Ducks Corallo, they were smart yes but not the way he describes them.

Yes there are exceptions, like the killing of Fat Pete Chiodo's sister if i remember correctly with order of Casso. And a couple in the Colombo wars, the american mob also has a rule right? not to kill infront of his wife or children. But that rule was also broken several times, most notably in the Colombo Wars.

The Demeo crew murdered between 75 and 200 people (FBI Estimate).
Even Gotti gave Demeo a wide berth.
Casso went paranoid crazy when he was co-boss of the Lucchesse which is when he started clipping his own men left right and center - where as Demeo was only ever a Gambino soldier.
As far as mob killers go, they dont come much worse than Demeo
Maybe "Tommy Karate" Pitera (Bonnano) is almost on a par.

For sure, read "Murder Machine" and "For the sins of my father" (by Roys son Albert).
Both books are excellent.
Last I heard, Albert was trying to get his book made into a movie - dunno if that will ever happen though?
But for me, Roy DeMeo takes some beating in the contention for the title of the mobs worst killer

Jezus, thats massive. Its a very nice book indeed, i am allready at half chapter 2 and cant wait to read it further. The prologue was very nice, would love to see a movie about the Demeo Crew.

BTW is this book any good:
The Butcher: Anatomy Of A Mafia Psychopath
its about the Bonanno mobster Tommy "Karate" Pitera

I skipped it, Lilo. I was so turned off by Philip Carlo's writing style in his book about Gaspipe (cliche after cliche rendered it almost unreadable, and the author is clearly quite impressed by these goons), I just couldn't bring myself to read the Pitera book.

You didn't miss much PB. I think Carlo could use a stronger editor.

Hi Mukremin.

Have you read

"Murder Machine" about the DeMeo crew
"For the sins of my father" (written by Roy DeMeo's son)
"Underboss" about Sammy Gravano
"Mafia son" about Greg Scarpa (which I'm currently reading)

All 4 of the above books are very good reads and I didnt want to put them down.

I was initially blown away by Carlo's "Iceman" book (till I learned that Kuklinksi was the biggest bullshitter in the western hemisphere).
I wasnt to impressed with Carlo's "Gaspipe" book and I think thats whats put me off buying the "Tommy Karate" book!

Is it just me or is there a lack of books on the Genovese family?
I suppose the Genovese have been lucky that not many of their guys turned rat/informant - thats probably the reason

Ernest Volkman is well known for not getting all his facts right. In fact, Jerry Capeci has what he calls the "Volkie Awards," for authors who have screwed up like Volkman has in his books.

That said, even Volkman isn't nearly as bad as Phil Carlo, who is considered a total hack by many.

And, no, there isn't a lot of books on the Genovese. Usually just indirect things in other books. Like the materical on them in Five Families, etc.

Hi GaryH, i am currently reading Murder Machine. And the other books i allready ordered, so i will be recieving tthem soon.

Thats the reason why the Genoveses are still the most strongest family in whole of America.

Ernest Volkman says at the end that all of the families are shattered and broken in street gangs etc. Thats nonsense, oke maybe the book was written decade ago? that would explain some of it.
