Over in Random Post Whoring our very own Signor Vitelli posted that he has hooked up with a band called The Meetles which pays tribute to the legendary Beetles.

Five - ten years from now, they're gonna wish there was American Cosa Nostra. Five - ten years from now, they're gonna miss John Gotti.

I had posted the link on you tube but don't think many people browse there. I should have posted it in its own thread in the first place.
Way to go SV!!

I don't know where in NY this is, but the background mural looks pretty neat. I don't remember seeing anything like that the couple times I used the subway.
SV, what kind of reaction are you guys getting from the passers-by?
Btw, do you play the drums, guitar or sing or all of the above?

Only because Sr Vitelli's access to the boards is limited, I'll try to answer for him.
He is singing only with them ~ no instruments (although I suppose he plays the organ when he gets home). He said this was his first public singing in over 25 years (at least while sober). He's REALLY enjoying it, though!
He actually filmed some of their recent YouTube vids, but has since been a performer (singing). He said they are getting favorable feedback from passersby, and for a New Yorker to stop for a minute in the subway, that IS a big thing!
It's interesting that the group's banner is spelled out in the same style used to designate the subway's trains (each letter is in a colored circle ~ the same thing you see on the front of the train as it pulls into a station).
Hopefully he'll post a video with him in it when he can.
Thanks SC (you make me laugh with your commentary).

I wish you could have heard Sr. Vitelli talking about it.... you know he's funny and animated, and I was watching a few of the YouTube vids while he was describing what was happening and he had me rolling on the floor.

Many people ask what are Beatles? Why Beatles? Ugh, Beatles, how did the name arrive? So we will tell you.
It came in a vision,a man appeared in a flaming pie and said unto them "From this day on you are Beatles with an A." "Thank you, Mister Man," they said, thanking him.

As far as location, this is a large mosaic tile wall located in the huge subway station at 42nd Street/Times Square. It is a major transfer point for many subway lines, and this is a large area that many people pass through. But the colorful Meetles logo has been PhotoShopped into the picture.
The reaction we get is usually very favorable. In fact, sometimes people stand and watch us for more than a few songs. Last Friday, a woman from France stayed for a few hours - and then she came back Saturday to see us again! Of course, a lot of folks only stay for a little while because they are on their way to do other things. But the music usually attracts them for a song or two.
The instruments I play are mostly tambourine and cow bell. (That's right - more cow bell!) The singing I do is primarily background, with one or two exceptions depending on the circumstances. But lately I've had an annoying head and chest cold, and I sound like two chalk slates mating. I was too under the weather to sing last Sunday; hopefully, I'll feel better by the weekend when The Meetles will next meet.
Yes, folks, Meetlemania is alive and well in NYC!

Make sure you post a video that YOU are in. Sounds like your having a lot of fun.
