Prices are creeping up again. Spring is in the air, gasoline goes up. Exxon must have only made 30 billion the last quarter. Maybe they should chip in for the AIG bonuses. tongue

I was out and about today and I found a BP station that was $1.99 today. I'm sure it won't last at that price.

I haven't seen much movement in the last couple of weeks. $1.70's in
North Jersey, and about $2.09 on Staten Island, which is up 2 cents since last week.

About $2.50 here.

Long as I remember The rain been coming down.
Clouds of Mystery pouring Confusion on the ground.
Good men through the ages, Trying to find the sun;
And I wonder, Still I wonder, Who'll stop the rain.

Last year we were raped. Prices jumping 5,10 cents a day. This year we're being seduced, a penny or two at a time, a few days apart. Memorial Day is approaching and watch the increases beginning to climb daily. There will be some fabricated stories about production shortages, maintenance on processing plants, turmoil in the Middle East, Somali pirates hi-jacking a oil tanker.....etc.

The oil industry's version of a government bailout.... They'll raise their prices so that they can keep near record profits despite the rest of the financial worldwide downturn.

I don't think we'll see another $4 summer, but $3 in some areas looks imminent.

Using today as a benchmark, I predict a 27% increase by May 23 (Memorial Weekend Saturday) and then 50% increase on July 4th.
Today - $2.03
May 23 - $2.59
July 4 - $3.03

Gas is down about .15 in the last week or so in my area. It dropped 10 cents overnight at 1 station.

Not having to drive to work anymore has really cut down my gas expenses. I use to spend anywhere from 120-150 a month just to and from work. I think since I've been off I spent may 40/50. smile I have no idea right now what the average gas costs today.

Strange coincidence. Last year at this time we were paying $4.00 + a gallon and Bush was President; Exxon made record profits. Now.......$2.50?? Oil man makes killing before he leaves office; conspiracy theory.

I've always had compact cars. I never was into anything but. I'm glad now that I am. My daughter has an SUV (which is a truck as far as I'm concerned), but when I see what it takes to fill the tank, even now with lower gas prices...Yikes!! eek My tank is full at about 25 dollars right now. Although before this big boom, 15 would fill my tank.

My 1st new car back in the 80's was a compact, and I owned a PT Cruiser back in 2001 when it first came out. Other than that, my last 5 cars were Cadillacs and a Corvette. For now, I've lost interest in driving luxury cars.

When the kids were growing up we had Cadillacs and a Plymouth station wagon. In the 90s we switched to Toyotas. I've had Camrys since and my wife refuses to drive anything else but a Lexus. Great cars.

Since getting married again in 2007, I've had to change my priorities a little bit. Especially since I bought a house in NY, and took out a 20 year mortgage instead of 30 years. wink
