The Knicks fans who attend the NBA draft each year are expected to act like buffoons (save for Spike Lee). They boo everything, like goombah said.

I read about this rumor too. Funny, I would have thought Curry would have been a perfect fit for Nellie's offense - Curry is an offensive gunner.

They're like the Jet fans in the NFL Draft. I always got a kick out of the eagle fans booing the selection of Donovan McNabb because they wanted Ricky Williams.

I think San Antonio did very well in getting Richard Jefferson and then having DeJuan Blair still available when they picked in the first round. Vince Carter was a great pickup for Orlando.

Just watched the British Lions get beat of the South Africans in one of the most brutal games of rugby i have ever seen. It means the Lions lose the series but what a game it was. i know rugby isn't a big game in the US but it should be,it is such a high intensity, big hitting sport, you guys would love it!

Rugby is a popular club sport where I live, Yogi. There are teams around Pennsylvania that have matches every weekend. An investigator in an office I worked in would play every weekend, and I would need to have him testify in trial often. On Mondays he would frequently show up with bruises, cuts and bandages. While these guys are gung ho, I realize that the level of rugby you watch is much more intense and well played. I'd have liked to see that game.

It was a stormer Klyd. Two South Africans should have been sent off for eye gouging and head stamping and 5 Lions players had to go straight to the hospital with various concussions, fractures and missing teeth!!

Yet afterwards they all hug each other and declare undying friendship?

Truly one of my favourite sports, the ultimate adrenaline inducing thing to watch. My wife loves it and goes ballistic when she watches a game. Evil lady grin

There is a...bee delay in the ballgame between the Astros and San Diego today.

No kidding. They're swarming out in left field, and the grounds crew and umpires are discussing what to do about it. I can't say I've ever seen this!

A 52-minute delay, I think is what they said! And it was actually extremely entertaining... lol Our announcers are quite corny, so they filled part of the time by discussing random trivia about bees, making jokes about our own Killer Bees (Berkman, Byrdak, Blum, Bourn, etc. - and of course Bagwell and Biggio), and just being silly.

There was a queen bee somewhere in that jacket, apparently, so all the other bees swarmed together like it was a hive. They got an actual beekeeper to come out and take care of it, but all he did was kill them with spray and gather their bodies! I'd guess there are going to be some complaints about that from people who are for animal rights and whatnot.

I heard about that on the radio today Gina. The guys on the radio read it as "Delay due to insect infestation". That brought all kinds of images to my head until a short time later they finally figured out it was a swarm of bees.

That's a funny delay grin.

"Insect infestation," huh? haha

The left fielder for the Padres was funny - he just started walking in to the infield like he wasn't gonna deal with it. lol

I've always felt that you can never 'see it all' in baseball, but I didn't expect bees to show up!

My son pitched his guts out tonight against a 15-0 team that was averaging 13 runs a game. A game ending sacrifice fly beat him 2-1. He was crushed. He pitched the whole game (6 2/3 innings), gave up 2 runs, scattered 4 hits, and had 10 strikeouts with 3 walks. He hit a batter too, and the HBP scored the winning team's first run.

The Phillies scored 22 points last night? Wow! It's even more impressive since their opponent only had 1 run.

Poor Phil Mikelson can't catch a break. He has now just learned that his mom has breast cancer, along with his wife. I feel bad for him.

Sounds like a fantastically pitched game. He'll get 'em next time.

It was. His counterpart threw a two hitter and had a very effective change. There was also good defense by both teams. I'm more of a fan of pitchers' duels than slugfests, so I enjoyed the game. The last time we played that team, they crushed us 19-4.

England started playing Australia at cricket today in the Ashes, the oldest rivalry in sport. Cricket gets a bit boring sometimes but the Ashes is different,we don't want to be beaten of those rough Aussie types (like Whisper) grin

Suit claims Roethlisberger sexually assaulted woman Tuesday, July 21, 2009
By Jonathan D. Silver, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

An employee of Harrah's Lake Tahoe hotel in Nevada has claimed in a civil lawsuit that Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger sexually assaulted her in his room last July while he was in town for a celebrity golf tournament.

The complaint, filed Friday in Washoe County, Nev., also names eight Harrah's employees accused of being part of a widespread cover-up in the Harrah's organization. They include the resort's president, security chief and other supervisors.

Mr. Roethlisberger's lawyer yesterday denied that his client had sexually assaulted anyone.

A year ago? In HIS room? No criminal prosecution?
It's an attempt for cash. Same thing happened to Bettis when a woman tried to scare some money out of him with a false allegation.

While I fully acknowledge that I genuinely despise Roethlisberger, I am somewhat skeptical of this story. I just read the amount the accuser is suing the QB for: $440,000 (source: Yahoo Sports) If this woman was just in it for the money, wouldn't we expect her to try to get an award in the millions since the accused obviously has that kind of money?

I hope that no assault did take place because it's just plain wrong. But it would not surprise me in the least if he did do it. Isn't this the same guy who thought he was invincible when he nearly died riding his motorcycle without a helmet? While the act of assault is quite obviously different, it's still the same mentality of many of these athletes thinking that they are indestructible and can buy their way out of most legal jams.

It's interesting to note that Roethlisberger's attorney did not deny that sex took place between his client and the accuser. Rather, the attorney said "Ben has never sexually assaulted anyone." In the end, they'll probably throw some money on the table and settle this thing. Regardless, his name and image will be viewed differently from this point forward.

Bizarre Twist in Roethlisberger Assault Case
Posted Jul 21st 2009 10:24AM by TMZ Staff

Sources connected to the Ben Roethlisberger sexual assault case claim the psychiatric care the accuser says she's under has nothing to do with Ben .... it has to do with a relationship she had with a man who never existed.

Andrea McNulty has sued Roethlisberger, the Pittsburgh Steelers Super Bowl champ, claiming he sexually assaulted her in July 2008. Sources tell us Roethlisberger and McNulty had a sexual liaison at the time but Ben insists it was purely consensual. We're told the two knew each other because Ben had stayed at Harrah's in Lake Tahoe over the last several years for golf tournaments -- and she worked at the hotel.

Sources connected with the case tell us a former co-worker of McNulty's at Harrah's came forward with this incredible story -- that around the time McNulty hooked up with Roethlisberger, she was allegedly involved with a married man. The man's wife, we're told, created an email account, posing as a U.S. soldier in Iraq. The wife began corresponding with McNulty to gain information. We're told the former co-worker has said McNulty fell in love with the fictitious soldier and began telling people she was engaged to him. When the wife stopped the correspondence, McNulty then began telling people the soldier was killed in action.

We're told McNulty told at least one co-worker she began seeing a psychiatrist because of the phantom soldier.

We tried repeatedly getting in touch with McNulty. So far we have been unable to reach her.

So far we have been unable to reach her.

well that case is dead...and since MJ's death i kinda believe TMZ a little bit more.
