Been addicted to this thing the past few days!

It's damn slow to regenerate energy and health, and making (and keeping) lots of money is difficult -- but it's good to play in the background. I'm trying to get out of Level 17, and one more level I can start making some serious cash with the Moonshine Bootlegging so I can finally purchase that Luxury Hotel I have my eyes on! grin

This was great:

JG, I am so far level 11 with 25 of everything, including train tics, do I need more stuff or do you have any tips?

You have more than I did at Level 11, which is good.

For every level you are, you can have 5x that level in mobsters (that's the size of your "fighting mob" regardless if you have 500 or 5000 mob). Each of those mobsters can carry 1 weapon, 1 vest/armor and 1 vehicle. Ideally, at Level 11, you'd have 55 (5x11) mobsters, weapons, vests, and vehicles. But that's difficult. I didn't have all my weapons until Level 15, but my record was still 105-1 going into Level 12.

You can add mobsters via the forums. You add them as friends, then as mobsters. You can then delete them from your friends and they'll remain in your mob.

At your level, all you really need are shotguns. They do the most damage at that point. (I've seen high levels with ONLY shotguns, which dumbfounds me, but proves a point). You didn't need the minigun yet, it's probably not going to help much. When you need the AK-47s, pick them up, but get rid of the rest and get shotguns only. You can upgrade later. You'll want the 55 weapons first if you can't afford vests and extra vehicles.

Buy properties when you can afford them (start small, multiple of the same time if you have the money. They go up in price if you just buy 1 at a time like I have).

What are your stats? At Level 11 I had Attack 10, Defense 21, Energy 11, Health 100, Stamina 3. (For every level until Level 12, I did +1 Attack and +2 Defense every time. I started adding +1 Energy at Level 12 to prepare for the Level 15 mission where you need 15 Energy)

Sheeesh... well, after reaching Level 99 in MySpace's MOBSTERS and losing interest in MySpace altogether for the most part in favor of Facebook... I swore that I wouldn't get sucked into these games again. Ahh well... Now I'm playing MAFIA WARS on Facebook and have to go thru the b.s. of building my mob up w/ strangers (who I can then delete at least)... but what a pain in the butt! whistle

Thanks a lot, Santino!! tongue

I played this for a day or two on facebook. It's pretty fun but I don't really understand what the point is. I see people with 100+ people in their mob and I'm supposed to attack them?

Well, what you gotta do is go to the Mafia Wars message board on Facebook, and go into the "OMG Add Me!!11!!1!!!" threads and add as many people as you can and/or post your own "ADD ME!!" post in there. Thankfully, you can create friends folders in Facebook (I created one called Mafia Wars) where you can put all these strangers. Then, you can invite up to (only) 5 per day to join your mob. Once they're in your mob, you can delete them from your FB friends. I wish there was another way - but that's how I eventually got my 500+ on MySpace. ohwell

I have a measly 6 mob right now, and I'm gonna be Level 10 soon, and I need 50! (5 mob members per level) Oy....

Well, I just installed Mob Wars on Facebook... they both have about 2.7 million players each, and both are highly ranked.

After playing Mobsters on MySpace for months, here's my opinion:

#1 - Mafia Wars (Facebook)! It's so much more nicer looking and interactive: and they added so much more to it than your standard fare. RECOMMENDED! What I don't particularly like is the 5-mob invite limit/day when the other allows 12.

#2 - Mobsters (MySpace) and...
#3 - Mob Wars (Facebook) are very similar, but Mobsters looks better IMHO. I was addicted to Mobsters, after all, so I'll give Mob Wars a shot as well and then decided. But so far, Mafia Wars seems like the best!

Edit: I moved Mob Wars to #3 as the more I play, the more I realize it's a stripped-down version of Mobsters with less features than the MySpace version.

Mafia Wars also moves faster, you get free stuff, "Boss fights," and you get bonuses, making game play seem faster and more rewarding.

6 months later...

Mafia Wars (Facebook) is still my Main Game, and I'm at Level 206. There's still a lot to do here, and they've recently opened up a Cuba expansion. DO NOT pick a $-earning character in this game: this one's all about Energy/jobs!

Mob Wars (Facebook) I still play -- sorta. I'm at Level 162, but only do jobs and put all my points (at this point) into defense. This one allows more than 501 in your family, and I love it when people higher/greater than me attack my measly 272 family and lose, over and over. Haha. This one is evolving and bringing in new things. Not quite like Mafia Wars, but certainly better than my initial review.

I also play Mafia LIVE! (recently and inexplicably renamed "Mark of Mafia") on my iPhone. Rules are very different. I'm Level 89 since January, so that's how slow-moving it is. Huge uproar lately on change of game-play rules, but I'm sticking with it for now.

Mafia Wars for iPhone is still a pile of worthless crap, so don't bother. Tho, for the record, I'm Level 125 there with nothing whatsoever to do as far as interacting w/ other players. A shame.

As for the original Mobsters (on MySpace), I'll load that up every couple months or so. Still doing all right I guess. They seem to be adding new job-based things all the time.

Can't you just play the regular version on the iPhone? I can play it on the my LG Dare, but it's not a pleasant experience.

In an "emergency", sure. But it's also unpleasant on iPhone. lol

There are no "emergency" reasons any more (after 6 months), for the "real" version; tho, I still wonder why I continue w/ the iPhone version (which is unrelated)...

Yeah, I've been playing for at least a year, BUT I quit playing it. I think I still have it on my personal profile at www.myspace.com/swat50code3 (add me), but I'm not as near as far as I "could be" if I would have kept up with it. I have real life biz to deal wit though. I guess those things are more important to me. But anyway, I own at least 100 luxury hotels probably. I have hundred multiples of EVERYTHING! I'm gonna go there now and see where I stand. Thanks for reminding me!

MY QUESTION: Does anybody have any "bots" or "cheats" for this game? Tips or Tricks? Anything?

Whatsup wit buying thugs for 100 grand? I find it reasonable until I have an upkeep of $800 per thug (doesn't make sense). They should be making their own moulani and paying me!!! Whatcha think?

It only took me over a month to notice your post, but, which game are you talking about?

I studied Italian for 2 semesters. Not once was a "C" pronounced as a "G", and never was a trailing "I" ignored! And I'm from Jersey! tongue lol

J Geoff -

I just clicked on something that took me to Mafia Wars and said I claimed a contract making me your "collector". I hope that doesn't involve any further commitment.

My teenage stepson got a chuckle out of your Mafia Wars name though. grin He plays the game and I asked him what I just did and he said "Let me see" and took over the computer. He never explained it to me but started clicking on a bunch of stuff. I asked him what he was doing and he kept saying "hold on". I noticed he kept clicking on my items and then clicking on his name. After he was done he told me he 'gifted' all of my inventory to himself. So, I guess he hacked my Mafia Wars account while I watched like an idiot.

My opinion, MySpace is a slow f#ck that can go ***********************
... I was just on there for the first time in ages and I left ONE FRICKIN COMMENT and they said I couldn't leave anymore cause I was Comment Flooding or something.
... See, there's a reason why they have a bad ethics rating on the web.
