The Broncos have to be happy too in putting this mess behind them and capturing two number one draft picks and Kyle Orton. I don't think he's a long term answer to the position, but I have to think his QB style is more comptible with the system McDaniels will be installing.

Frankly, I was a little surprised that he went for 2 number ones, but trades are not so much dependent upon the talent of the player as they are on the market, and there were apparently a lot of teams looking to upgrade.

Finally, I can't feel sorry for the Denver fans. This is payback from 1983 when John Elway announced that he refused to sign with the Colts, wh had drafted him, and the Colts were forced to trade him for pennies on the dollar, and he wound up in Denver. Maybe the Broncos will get a QB with one of the draft picks next year.

Bears gave up too much and Cutler has no one to throw to.

If the Bears could get Boldin they'd really have something.

Any notable trade in the NFL involves draft picks. That's the lifeline to success in the league, and it's what teams covet.. The Bears can't afford to give up the remaining picks. After the Cutler trade, they've upgraded the most important position on the team, but pretty much drained their bargaining power. I think that if Anquan goes on the trading block, the Bears won't be a player in the negotiations.

I think Harrison's skills have dropped off significantly after a Hall of Fame career, and while Holt has seen his best games, he still has some games left, but I doubt he'll sign with Chicago. Without first round picks in the next two drafts, I don't see the Bears being able to make a splash at WR through the draft any time soon. Now and then teams get lucky and a Marques Colston emerges from a lower round.

I haven't followed Orlando Pace in recent years. Does he have anything left in the tank? He's pretty old for a lineman.

well i think holt would love to go to chicago since lovie is there, and now pace. and pace has been having injury filled seasons, but if healthy can boost the line to protect cutler as well as making holes for forte.

I wish them luck next year, except when they play Pittsburgh. wink

I think Denver actually got a good deal. Orton was good last year until he got hurt. I watched a couple of games where he really got good at the end of the game when the Bears really needed to score. I wouldn't be surprised if Denver ends up a better team in the near future because I'm sure they will use those number one picks on defense. Plus Denver has good receivers.

I agree. Orton has to be thrilled. He has good receivers and an offensive minded head coach.

I'm guessing that the Broncos will use one or two of those four first round picks in the next drafts as trade bait. They may be able to acquire a great defensive player by trading a draft pick and avoid having to pay four first round salaries in two years.

I'm hopeful that Cutler is the answer to the Bears' QB problems. I just read a stat today that the Bears have had only one quarterback in the Pro Bowl in the last 45 seasons. They gave up plenty to get him, but based on the team's most recent drafts, the Bears would have probably screwed them up anyway.

My uncle, who loves to tease around with me, gave me this book:

The Rocket That Fell To Earth

And he put this note on the inside:

Gina,
I hope you like the book. But remember, don't believe everything that you read. It's just a work of fiction. Thanks for being such a big fan of mine.
Yours truly, The Rocket

lol

I'm actually looking forward to reading it...

Haha, I have a similar story, Gina. Except it was something I sent to my Uncle. He is a Dodger fan so naturally we rib each other as often as possible about each others teams. While at a game a few years back I bought him this picture and sent it to him in the mail with a note that said "I found this great picture of a Dodgers catcher and thought you might like to have it!"

Did you guilt him into hanging it up or something? That's what I would've done...haha

Freddy "Boom Boom" Couples is tied for the lead at the Shell Houston Open. He hasn't won a tournament in six years. He'll be 50 in October, just like me. I really hope he pulls it out.

Phillies and Braves tonight!!!!!!!!! I'm trying to get me some baseball fever. I've been so out of it regarding baseball the past couple of years. I just wished today's game was a day game. Watching a night game just isn't the same for some reason.

I have to get into the groove to decide which team, or which player I need to root for.

They had an Orioles commercial on the radio the other day and I knew three Oriole players. That's pretty pathetic.

I'm not sure yet, but I'll let you know when I get my tickets. It's a mid-week series, so I'm not sure if I'll stay over in Baltimore or maybe stop in Atlantic City on the way back.

The Mets also play at Fenway this year, over Memorial Day weekend. I'd love to get to one of those games too.

Fenway would be an awesome stadium to watch a game in.

How much did they raise the price for Mets tickets? Do you have to sell your first born to afford a good seat?

My first born is 24 years old, so I'm pretty sure it's illegal to try to sell her.

The Orioles prices seem tame compared to other stadiums. Maybe because they know no one would pay outlandish prices to see them. Here's the pricing chart.

I don't know how they can get away with having higher prices for "prime" games. I don't remember them doing that before. Then again, I've only been to one game at Camden Yards, and that's the year after it opened.

Oh, I hadn't thought of that. lol That's a shame because it's a great strategy!

My friend gave our other friend a necklace that she'd made herself out of yarn...it looks horrible and he never wants to wear it, but we continue to make him feel bad until he gives in or can think of an excuse not to. So I guess girls can use it against guys, but it's not a guy-guy thing.
