It's good to see that the Knicks' fans have something finally to cheer about. tongue

Exactly. So when people get on me for the Yankees, remember my Knicks too. They haven't been good in almost a decade now.

I'm proud because it shows class on New York's part. It shows we still appreciate a good performance, even if it comes from a visiting player.

The Knicks have been bad for basically the past decade and yes the fans haven't had much to cheer about. But that doesn't make what Kobe did any less special. Those people just witnessed history.

Well I was, but it was still a great performance. Sure my team lost but Kobe just set the MSG scoring record (breaking Michael Jordan's and Bernard King's). It was some special that doesn't happen every night. Who know when this will be broken?

Class and loyalty to your team are two different things. When Kevin Millwood threw a no-hitter against the Giants I wasn't proud that my team was a part of history. I was embarrassed that my team couldn't get a single hit.

I'm learning that New York fans are idiots. I don't care how long the Knicks have been bad for. The Warriors are bad this year after two good years. Before that they were bad for 13 straight years. Yet the place still sells out every night no matter how bad the team is, and the fans cheer for their team, not the visiting team making history on behalf of how bad they suck. In my opinion that is something to be proud of.

My sports luck is bound to dry up. My favorite teams in basketball, baseball and football have all won titles in a seven month period. This never happened to me before although in 1980-1 all three waon a title.

The NBA is adding H-O-R-S-E to its stable of all-star game activities, except they rebranded it as G-E-I-C-O.

First off, I'm not a fickle fan (I just appreciate a good performance). Secondly, it appears we disagree. I guess I just have a love/appreciation for "the game" as so many others have alluded to me in the Yankees thread when I hate the Red Sox yet MUST tip my hat to a good performance. Same rule applies here.

What about Around The World? They don't have that yet? Each time a players makes his shot and moves to the next spot he can say "Can you hear me now? Good."

You've had more luck in 7 months than I have had in 37 years! The only title I have legitimately celebrated in my lifetime was the 2002 Ohio State Buckeyes football BCS championship.

I'd love to say that the Cavs have a good chance this year, but I've walked down that road too many times before. As a Cleveland sports fan, when I start getting suckered into believing in my teams, it inevitably ends up like Charlie Brown going to kick the football thinking that Lucy will somehow not pull it away (again) at the last second. And then she does...

Goombah, that reminds me of a West Wing episode, when POTUS compares Leo to Charlie Brown.

I don't remember that West Wing reference. What was the context or the general plot? I miss that show, particularly Leo.

Thank goodness for DVDs!! Leo wants the president to invest in some missile system which keeps missing its target in "The Drop In". I found this summary on televisionwithoutpity.com:

Out in the hall, Jed tells Leo that he is the Charlie Brown of defense, and that the Pentagon is Lucy. Leo, amazingly, has no idea what Jed is talking about. Jed explains, "Peanuts. Charlie Brown." Leo elaborates, "I've heard of them, I'm just not conversant in 'em." Oh, dear. Jed: "Why?" Leo says, "I've never read the comics." Jed asks, "Leo, were you born at the age of fifty-five?" Leo volunteers, "I know that there's a dog." Jed goes on to explain Lucy and Charlie's annual ritual of her convincing him to kick a football that she's holding, only to pull it away, gleefully, at the last second.

Very well put Goombah! I know exactly how you feel! I wouldn't mind going my whole life without the Raiders or Warriors winning a championship if it meant the Giants could win their first since moving to San Francisco. I will die happy if, major if, that ever happens.

The Warriors just beat the Knicks 144-127, and all 8 guys who played in the game for the Warriors scored double digit points. Did Knicks fans stand and applaud their televisions at the great effort?

No, because not one of them broke Kobe's scoring mark

Thanks, SB. smile What a reminder of the great writing that show had. "I know there was a dog" is Leo to a tee and "Were you born at the age of 55?" is the epitome of Barlett's sense of humor.

Oh okay, I didn't realize it was only limited to Kobe's scoring mark. Never mind then.
