The Warriors beat the Celtics as well, so don't get too excited. Anyone can beat anyone on the right night.

How was the 49ers game?

Long as I remember The rain been coming down.

And I wonder, Still I wonder, Who'll stop the rain.

It was awesome! It was more special being there with my Dad more than anything though, especially because he is a Niners fan. It was a meaningless game as far as the season goes, but it was an exciting come from behind victory over Washington and turned out to be more important for three different reasons.

1. Frank Gore ran for over 1,000 yards for the third season in a row which is the first time a 49ers running back has ever done that, which is hard to believe with all of those great teams in the '80s and '90's.

2. Right after the game they gave Mike Singletary the coaching job for the next four years, and that's huge news around here because he is already loved by the fans.

3. It was Joe Starkey's final game as the 49ers play-by-play announcer after 20 years. They gave him a very nice tribute during the game and the crowd cheered as loud for him as anything that happened during the game. On the radio post game show we listened to him give a tear jerking farewell to everybody.

In the end, it was just special to be there with my Dad for our first pro game together, and his excitement over that plus those three things made it more special.

One thing I noticed is that the game seemed slower in real life. The quarterback seemed to have more time to throw the ball, the ball seemed to fly through the air slower and the receivers/running backs seemed to run slower. I guess the cameramen really know how to capture those moments to make it more exciting for television. That's not a knock on the sport though. It was exciting to see it all live!

Now I can safely order my Cleveland Indians playoff tickets. They just signed Carl Pavano today. rolleyes At least it was only for one year.

lol Get 'em before they're all gone. wink Yeah, I read this. At least the contract is incentive based. I also read that the Mets may be thinking of resigning Pedro to an incentive based contract.

This old guy saw my Colts sweatshirt at the grocery store and started talking to me out of the blue about the playoff game and how he's been a Cubs fan for 70 years and he loves the Cubs like he loves his family - nobody's perfect. I thought it was philosophical.

Does anyone else get the MLB Network? There're some pretty good dhows to keep the baseball interest going, including old playoff and world series games.

You don't have to pay for it like the NBA League Pass? I assumed you would so I haven't even looked for it. I'm not sure. What channel is it for you there in Pennsylvania?

However, I'm MORE than happy with my YES Network. Something I SORELY missed in Texas.

I get it on Channel 280 as part of my basic Comcast digital. They will air only a few dozen live games over the season, co I'll have to order the MLB Extra Innings, which gives me all of the MLB games, except Phillies, Pirates, Orioles and Nationals because of local market rules. But I get all the Phillie games on Comcast Sport anyway.

The MLB Network with Harold Reynolds and Dan Plesac is like the baseball version of the NFL Network, which I like. Tonight, the NFL Network, by the way, starts a marathon of all the Super Bowl highlight shows.

Yeah, I checked my Time Warner cable and I actually get it. Awesome, thanks klydon. I thought it was something you had to pay for.

I have Dish Network and apparently they don't carry it. I'm not sure if there are plans for it in the future, but I hope so. I would love to watch old playoff/world series games.

I have Dish Network, and I used to get the NFL network, until the bastards moved it to a higher tier.

We're going to the Daytona 500!! My husband has always wanted to go, but the tickets were always too expensive and too difficult to get. Well, the poor economy left so many tickets available that we were able to score some for half price! We were planning on being in Florida that weekend anyway (albeit about 3 1/2 hours from Daytona), so it was too good an opportunity to pass up.

Anyone have earplugs I can borrow???

Sweet! I'm not that into car racing myself, but it should be a fun experience. And February is a good time to get the hell outta Dodge (eww, no pun intended lol). Speaking of Florida, I'm hoping to go down to visit my folks in March or April (Flying in March is a lot cheaper than Easter time, but we'll see). Have fun!

I'm not a fan either, but I wouldn't pass on an opportunity to go to a race like that! Be sure to let us know how it was.

Delta Downs

Race 5 - Lost $6
Race 6 - Lost $6
Race 7 - Won $10 ($4 after $6 bet)
Race 8 - Won $22 ($4 after $18 bet)
Race 9 - Won $34 ($16 after $18 bet)
Race 10 - Lost $2

Hey, at least none of the horses died! And you would have spent the money on the drinks anyhow, so at least you still made $8!

what about Michael Phelps' pot pic?

"He was out of control from the moment he got there." says one of his fellow party-goers. Phelps was visiting Jordan Matthews, a girl he was secretly seeing who was a student at the University of South Carolina and apparently forgot he's the Olympic record gold medal winner. I wonder when celebrities will learn?

That Superbowl was heartbreaking. I've come to love Warner and Fitzgerald during the playoffs with all the great things I've heard about their careers as well as personal lives. I thought they had it on that last touchdown pass to Fitzgerald, but the Cardinals defense just couldn't hold.

I'm sorry if I offend any Steelers fans on the board, but screw you and your six championships ohwell wink

Last night made me proud to be a New Yorker and Knicks fan with the ovation given to Kobe Bryant for dropping 61 points on the hometown crowd.

Only in New York.

Not at all. I'm dead serious. Would you have seen that kind of reaction in say San Antonio or Boston?
