The Colts are going to win the Super Bowl of injured players. Manning, Harrison, Freeney, Sanders, Hagler, and so on.

I'd rather have the injuries now than during the season, aside from Manning's 6 picks, it was our biggest problem last year.

And we have 5 preseason games this year for more people to get injured in.

I think Jim Sorgi is underrated...but I'd rather not find out.

I'm jonesing for the NFL now. This is the first time in 15 years to have anything to be excited about heading into a Browns season. My prediction is that Brady Quinn will get some significant playing time this season and replace Anderson due to an injury at some point.

I'm looking forward to seeing the Saints this year. It will be interesting to see if their offense gets reinvigorated with the return of McAllister and the addition of Shockey. They could be a lot of fun to watch this year.

You want an inexperienced untested QB to take over for your Pro Bowl QB from last year? Why? Browns fans must be masochists! tongue I could understand if they were still in a rebuilding mode but this team is ready to win now. Quinn might be a good QB but he might not too, and this isn't the time to find out. Of course from a business perspective you want to play your highest paid players...

I do agree about the Saints, Shockey should be fun to watch for half the season -- till he gets injured. At least with Deuce back the Saints have a RB in the backfield instead of a WR.

In other news, Favre is a douchebag.

Marvin Harrison will be at training camp, and so will I.

Devin Hester needs to get paid.

No Longneck, I did not say I "wanted" DA to get hurt. I just think it's unlikely that he'll make it through a 16 game season and that Quinn will get some significant PT. Other than Brady, Favre & Manning, I can't think of any other QBs who regularly make it through the entire season healthy on a regular basis.

Unless Chicago plans on starting Hester as their QB, I don't see how they plan on scoring any points with their awful QBs and their complete lack of an effective running game.

My friend sent me a reggaeton video so that I could see the surprise guests that showed up...

It's kind of interesting to see the worlds of sports and music collide like this. lol

And don't worry, there's plenty of entertainment in this clip for the guys. Probably enough to warrant this being posted in the Manly Man's Thread, actually. tongue

ESPN is reporting Griffey might be headed to the White Sox. That certainly has the potential to impact the playoff race. It would be nice to see Jr. back in the American League.

I saw that, Mr. Sacamano.

According to Fox Sports, the deal is done, and just waiting for the commissioner's approval.

I just read they were turned off by the whole Bratt Favre joke that Manny pulled. I don't like him, but he's the most dangerous hitter in the game, so I'm hoping, for my Mets' sake, that the Marlins don't get him.

No facts, just a bunch of supposition to this point. Manny is certainly doing everything he can to annoy the Red Sox organization.

I'm not sure if its official yet but Sports Illustrated is reporting that Manny Ramirez is going to the Dodgers and the Red Sox are getting Jason Bay as part of a three way deal with the Pirates.

HOLY CRAP, you're right DJ! I thought he was staying put. That's what ESPN was just reporting until a little while ago.

As a Red Sox fan, I'm not at all happy about losing Ramirez. The Sox just lost the best 1-2 punch in the game and the trade is gonna hurt the team more than it helps them.

In any event, good riddance, Manny. frown

I thought of you when I heard about it! My mom left me a message while I was at work to let me know what happened, so first I thought, well great, now he's in the NL - we'll have to face him some. Then I remembered he'd be in your boys' division.

I'm not aware of all that went on "inside" the club, but I guess the problems finally became too much for Boston to keep dealing with him...still, I can't imagine giving up a player like Manny.

I would imagine if the Red Sox were yet to win a championship they would have held on to him. But with their recent success it's obvious they want to try something for the future and ridding themselves of Manny's antics makes sense.

Jason Bay is no Manny Ramirez but they are getting someone good in return for what looked like an ended relationship already.

He is still a great hitter though and hopefully he won't be in a Dodger's uniform for very long.

Manny's contract had a club option for 2009. Was that waived in order for him to agree to be traded.

I think he'll stay in LA. Likewise, I think Teixeira will sign on again and stay w/ the Halos.

Does the club option transfer over to the Dodgers?

I don't believe so because all I've been hearing is how Manny will now have to play hard the final two months because he'll need a new contract in the offseason (he's thinking in the neighborhood of 4 years for $20 million a year)

So the Twins let Torii Hunter walk this past offseason, trade Johan Santana to the Mets, have been without Francisco Liriano since April and are STILL in first place. Just wow

It really is something considering the only real threats in their lineup are Justin Morneau and Joe Mauer, and their pitching staff while decent isn't dominant. With the White Sox nipping at their heels it will be very interesting to see how the AL Central plays out.

Don't count Detroit out of it yet. As much as I hate them, they're only 7 games out and they've struggled all season long (remember, this is a team A LOT of people had either making or winning the World Series).

The Tigers remind me of Mets teams from past years where that have what looks like an unstoppable lineup but can't seem to click on all levels at once.

True, the Mets were picked by many to make the Series. After being swept by Houston, they've dropped to third in the NL East behind Philadelphia and Florida

I was referring more to teams in the past 5-7 years or so. But I guess this year qualifies as well.

Sure, the Mets have been underperforming for years (as have the Yankees). With all the talent on both of those teams and a New York team hasn't been to the Series since 2003 (since 2000 for the Mets).
