I have never read the book and I was wondering if people who have could you tell me is the book worth it?

How different is it from the movie version?

Read the book and then see for yourself the similarities and differences from the movie! Actually if you are a serious Godfather fan, I promise that you will enjoy the book.

Five - ten years from now, they're gonna wish there was American Cosa Nostra. Five - ten years from now, they're gonna miss John Gotti.

If you're enough of a fan to be on this BB, Iceman, it's a near-certainty that you'll appreciate the book. Can't miss. But, as you'll see if you follow other threads here, it's not always easy to buy it. My advice: try one of the used booksellers on the Web. Amazon has a connection to them. Also, abebooks.com.

Almost everything in the movie is in the book, although sometimes the movie version is a little different than it is in the novel. The novel, however, contains many more storylines than the movie.

There is a lot of time in the book spent on Lucy Mancini after her move to Las Vegas and her relationship with a doctor name Jules Segal. There is also a lot more about Johnny Fontaine and his friend Nino.

There are parts of the book I would have like to see in the movie, like more about Luca Brasi and how he handles the Capone hit men. Also, I would like to see the scene where Vito sends Sonny to handle the furnace scam artists as a test of his handling situations.

It is a great book, and if you are a fan of the movies you will almost certainly enjoy the book. If you can't find it in a store, check it out of the library.

Christopher Moltisanti: You ever think what a coincidence it is that Lou Gehrig died of Lou Gehrig's disease?

Tony Soprano: Yeah well, when you're married, you'll understand the importance of fresh produce.

I felt the same way as you did a few months ago. I had seen the movies several times but never read the book. One of my friends who isn't a huge GF fan loved the book, so I figured that if he loved it, then I'd just cream myself over it.

In a nutshell, it was very good. Read it!

The book is better than the film. Probably a controversial opinion, but I believe it is. And The Godfather is far and away my favourite film of all time. Read it and see. Luca Brasi, Johnny Fontane are much bigger parts and the novel is good for it.

Cicci, a porta.

Could you get me off the hook Tom? For old times sake?
