Anyone else absolutely love the ending to part III. The Music is edited excerpts from Mascagni's Cavalleria Rusticana, which happens to be the Opera Anthony is starring in as Turridu. The beautiful ending (when Michael dies)is taken from the symphonic intermezzo near the end of the opera. Ya'll should check it out.

Did you know that they used "Cavalleria Rusticana" in Raging Bull too (and another movie, which I can't remember)

"..Your youngest and strongest will fall by the sword.."

"...now you gotta speak more than one language to pull a heist..." Pudge Nichols

"...Never shall innocent blood be shed; yet the blood of the wicked shall flow like a river. The THREE shall spread their blackened wings and be the vengeaful striking hammer of God..."

The Intermezzo from "Cavalleria Rusticana" also was used in the most recent "A Midsummer Night's Dream," along with many other operatic pieces. "Cavalleria" is the ultimate

Oops--I clicked the "post" button too fast. I meant to say, "Cavalleria" is the ultimate verismo opera--beautiful music in ugly story. If you liked what you saw in GF III, you should buy the tape of the '82 Franco Zeffirelli production featuring Placido Domingo and Elena Obraztsova. It was shot on location in Sicily (not in an opera house) and is just magnificent. This tape should appeal to GF fans especially because Zeffirelli is as much a fanatic for details as is Coppola. The scenes of the Easter mass ("Ineggiamo il Signor non e Morto"), seen in part in GF III, is done outdoors with a cast of hundreds in authentic period costume--a scene of transcendent power.

that is a very beautiful piece. i also seen raging bull and i love it how the openeing scene with de niro warming up in the ring, one question tho, it sounds kind of different in the scene of when mary gets shot and michael lets out his screams. i was wondering where i can get the exact version and what its called. also...i was wondering where i can find some of the songs in the gf III end credits they show but isnt on the soundtrack. check them out.
--Songs listed in film's credits:
To Each His Own; Vitti 'Na Caozza
En Compari; Beyond the Blue Horizon
Lover
Senza Perdono
Miracle Man (E. Costello)
Dimmi, Dimmi, Dimmi
Gregorian Chant
Brucia La Terra
Santa Rosalia (from La Baronessa di Carini)
Promise Me You'll Remember
excerpts from Cavalleria Rusticana...

please post who the authors of these songs are or email me italyzfinest@hotmail.com thanks alot. this would make the gf collection closer to complete smile
