Wonderful pix, SV!

Its amazing to see these people at different stages of their lives; how they've changed, etc.

VERY nice pic of your parents ... your dad had a little "Johnny Sac" look about him.

A little? Practically separated-at-birth!
Great pictures, SV! Your mom really was tiny. Was Sabine German?

I love that movie!!

Hey... he was wrong once before.

He once said the 1932 WO6 version of the 770 Mercedes Benz engine produced 145 horsepower. Everyone knows it was 150!!

The engine's output was 145hp SAE, 150 DIN. We were both right.

Hmmm...why does this remind me of Marisa Tomei on the witness stand in My Cousin Vinny? ;\)

Johnny Sac? Y'know, I never noticed the resemblance until now. But yeah, I guess a bit - particularly in that photo.

I don't think so, but I can't be sure. I never knew her maiden name, and I barely remember her. Just about everyone was Russian or Lithuanian Jewish. Interestingly, though her name was spelled "Sabine", it was always pronounced "Sabina".

Uncle Phil was quite well known among magicians. He's still a member of the Society of American Magicians, though he can't really travel much anymore. Do a Google search for Farvel the Marvel, and you'll find him. Back in the 1970s, I built some wonderfully (and deliberately) cheesy props for his act and even made a false head of him. (He absolutely hated having a plaster mold made of his face, but he loved the end result.)

I just want to thank everyone here for being so patient and indulgent with the all photos I've posted. I realize everything hasn't been purely on-topic, but I thought it would be good not to leave everyone hanging as far as the rest of the story of these really unique women.

Ok, I apologize for such bad quality, but all these pictures are ancient. This is my mother and yours truly, I'm guessing around August/September 1948. Sorry they are so big too. I've sent them to photobucket and am trying to resize them. I am so bad at this.

Let me try again later!!!!!

Ok,this one is a little clearer, probably because it was taken at a portrait studio. My father, Salvatore' at approximately 20 yrs old which would make the year 1941. \:o

I'm gonna try later after I practice a bit. I donn't know if it's the pics or me. \:\/ ;\)

That is so beautiful Tissie. Don't you just love looking at pictures of old weddings. Just knowing the "newness" of the relationship, and all the memories they had that followed.

TIS - I'm having some trouble seeing them clearly (the one of your dad is fairly clear; your parents wedding pic looks out of focus and the one of you and your mom is too small to make out).

Work your magic for her SC. Maybe she can email them to you or SV and he can re-do them like he did his. It would be great to see them up close and personal.

Sorry you guys. I just got a digital camera and am shooting a picture of a picture. Granted, some are not of the best quality, however the originals in my album are better then when I took the pics. I am not quite certain which settings to use. Sorry.

It looks like TIS took pictures of those pictures. Unfortunately those pix (that she took) are out of focus.

TIS - You hafta change the focus setting on the camera... it should be set for about a foot; some cameras may have that designated as .5 meters or a closeup. Try different settings...

OK... try the 1M (thats for up to about 3 feet) and try the VGA... remember, if you don't like the way the pcture came out you can always erase it right away.

BTW - the 5M setting (that its on now) is for taking a picture of something thats about 5 meters away (about 15 feet).

SC,

I tried 1 M and am still working with it. :/I can't seem to get it much better. Btw, what would I normally have it set on? It came set on 5. Is that average?

SV, thank you. I've been playing around with this camera all day and yesterday. It takes me a while to get it I'm afraid. More recent pictures I have are clearer to begin with, but wouldn't fit into the GF category. You guys are so much better at this than I am. I'm still trying though. I do enjoy looking at all the great pictures.

Not guilty - it was pure coincidence! ;\)

And BTW, see your doctor if your lens extension lasts longer than four hours... \:p

Yeah, I know - we're not supposed to carry things over from other threads...guess I'll have to suspend myself...

Wait - there is a Godfather connection: I think she worked for Fredo in Las Vegas. ;\)

OK... try the 1M (thats for up to about 3 feet) ... the 5M setting (that its on now) is for taking a picture of something thats about 5 meters away (about 15 feet).

Huh? If you're talking about 03M, 2M, 3M, 6M, 12M, RAW settings... those, on my camera at least, are Picture Quality settings, the first meaning 640x480 and the last 4048x3040 (on my 6.3MP camera).

TIS - What you want for closeups is the Macro setting (on mine, it looks like a flower icon, and works from about 3" to 2.5 feet away). It should be mentioned somewhere in the manual. Enable that, then zoom in/out until you get a good composition and focus... and keep steady. Good luck! \:\)

I studied Italian for 2 semesters. Not once was a "C" pronounced as a "G", and never was a trailing "I" ignored! And I'm from Jersey! tongue lol
