The wedding night scene between Michael and Appolonia. (not just for the nudity). I know this scene is a bit controversial, but remains my favorite.

I really liked the whole Vito whacking/Luca garroted/Tom picked up by Sollozzo sequence, but my fav individual scene in Part 1, is the Restaurant Shooting.

In GF2, when it pans to Michael standing in the window, looking out on the lake, and you hear Al Neri shoot Fredo, then a few seconds later, you hear a bird screetch, as you see Neri stand up, and then it pans back to a drained Michael, as he hangs his head. Probably the most powerful scene in the whole Trilogy.

My first post.
Anyhow well as far as i'm concerned my favourite scene has to be in gf2 in the court room where they were asking micheal if he was related to the mafia and all that.i also liked in gf1 when he killed solozo and the cop,man that scene was intense man.

and that's all i've got to say about that.

I'd go for Ma Corleone's wake.
When Michael walks through the room, up to Fredo and hugs him, the camera showing Fredo desperatley clutching Michaels back, and then Michael gives Al Neri that cold classic Pacino stare, signaling Fredo's fate in a glance. Also the musical score is a perfect accompanyment to the scene. This for me, is a classic Godfather moment.

Godfather Part 1- Execution of Five Family heads. Classic cinema.

Godfather Part II- New Years Eve Michael gives Fredo kiss of Death and reveals that he knows Fredo betrayed the family.

Godfather Part III- Joey Zasa's murder.

One scene I find very humorous is when Luca pays his respects to the Don at Connie's wedding. Not only can't Luca spit out the words but the cutaway shot to the Don's face while Luca was talking was a pisser.

I also liked the scene where Michael ground up Carlo, getting him to crack about Sonny's murder. Classic Michael, Carlo never saw him coming. "Carlo, you grew up in Vegas, you are going to be my right hand man there." Keep your friends close, keep your enemies closer.
Clemenza..."Hello Carlo"

Any scene with a Mr. Tom Hagen in it. wink

I also loved the whole Enzo the Baker scene at the hospital where he says "For your father...For your father..." Then when Enzo is shaking and Michael is as cool as can be.

Hard to say what my favourite scene is but one bit I really liked was with Michael and Johnny (the singer) in the Las Vegas scene. its only a small bit.

Michaels asks Johnny to sign a contract to appear 5 times in the casinos he was going to buy, and Johnny unreservedly agrees, with a positive "I'll do anything for my Godfather, you know that". Of course Mo Green then came in and blew away the spirit of co operativeness lmao

He didnt even question whether Michael would be able to buy them or not, (in contrast to Fredo), Good old Johnny new the score.

In fact there was a fine nobility with the family in there quest for returning favours. The people were never asked to do something out of reach of them. the 2 incidents of favour returning being the funeral parlour owner (asked to make over Sonnys body) and Johnny. In some crime flicks, people are asked to carry dodgy parcels through customs, of other potentially legally damaging activies. But it seemed if people werent criminally involved, they were never asked to do unlawfull things. (Although the favours could be demanding, the funeral owner had to respond within an hour)

Just a bit I liked.

Can I pick 3?

1)The scene where Vito learns of Sonny's death. "...but you needed a drink first... and now you've had your drink."

2)"You have to answer for Santino, Carlo."

3)Vito's funeral scene. "...then, I'll meet with Don Barzini..." Just the implications of that line... wow!! The only thing I can compare it to is the scene in Taxi Driver where Travis is leaving the whorehouse after his talk with Iris.
Gangster : "Come back any time, cowboy."
Travis : "I will."

When he said "I will." you KNOW what he meant... Just like when Michael said he would meet with Don Barzini, you knew what he meant.. Awesome.

The first time young Vito is shown walking the streets. The powerful music comes in and you see him go through the crowds.

This will more than likely change after my next viewing, but at this moment :

GF1 - The "Reverence" scene at the end
GF2 - Michael shuts the door on Kay. You catch only a glimpse of her breakdown before it closes on her pretty little face. orange
GF3 - For some odd reason, the old croon choking on his poisoned dessert at the opera. orange orange

My God the impossible question!

Well i have just rewatched part one tonight (my fave film of all time!) and today ive changed my mind about my favourite scene in the film. It was previously Sonnys beating of carlo, but i now have a new number one

- We see Tessio on the phone arranging the meeting, we then see he and Tom go outside to get Michael, but then suddenly Willie Cicci appears and says that Michael will be taking another car to the meeting, Tessio seems a bit put out 'that screws up all my arrangements' he barks, but then Tom says 'I cant go either, Sal' And then in that split second - Tessio realizes he has been found out, in a supreme piece of facial acting by Abe Vigoda, he looks Tom straight in the eye and with that he knows he is doomed! He is then disarmed and makes a final plea 'Cant you get me off the hook Tom, for ol' times sake??' He says with an inconceivable grin 'Cant do it Sally' Is Tom's cold reply, with that the once Hulking Powerful Caporegime is reduced to nothing as he led into a car, powerless to prevent his onw death.

Its such a short scene, but for me, its so, so powerful and well acted.

As for my other fave scenes well here we go

- EVERY Sonny scene, my favourite character of any film, EVER
- 'You have to answer for Santino, Carlo!. For me that is Pacino's best scene.
- As Carlo gets in the car he smirks cos he thinks he's gonna live but 'Hello Carlo' WHAT a scene
- The Baptism Massacre - With 5 Highly original stlyes of death, especially the revolving door
- Woltz 'And a man in my position cant afford to made to look ridulous;
- Scene in the garden 'I said i could handle it, i handle it!
- In the hospital 'Im with you now
- The 'Ill kill em both' scene

Lets face it EVERY damn scene is great, its the most flawless film ever.

Ill do a post for part 2 after a renewed watch tomorrow

Sonny - Well then, business will have to suffer, all right? And listen, do me a favor, Tom. No more advice on how to patch things up, just help me win, please

My favorite is the opening with Bonasera. To me, that scene is what the Godfather Trilogy is all about.

Very well said, Hollywood Finnochio. I concur, all of Sonny's scenes are maganetic!

More of my favorite scenes:
* When Vito makes his little facial grimace at
Bonasera's apology
* Moe Green's tirade at Michael in the hotel room
* Michael's face when Fredo spills the beans in
the nightclub
* The end of G1, when Kay witnesses the hand
kissing, anf the door closing.

Not including any G3 scenes, as I have never considered it worthy to be called a Godfather film.

What have I done that you would
treat me so disrepectfully?

Hey sonof70's - read my post of a few posts ago, i honour the Tessio scene - It really is excellent, and i would be so bold as to see it the finest scene i have EVER seen.

Fave Moment from Part 2

- Fredo's rejection -

'Im you're older brother Mike and i was stepped over!'
'Thats the way Pop wanted it'
'Well it aint the way i wanted it!'

John Cazale really outdoes himself here, it was this scene that i feel should have grabbed him a best supporting actor nomination, he was better than strasberg IMO.

Other Great Part II scenes

- Tom and Franks wonderful 'Roman Empire' scene - where Tom tells him in no uncertain terms that he has to kill himself in order for his family to be looked after. A great scene by 2 outstanding actors
- Michael and Fredo's cafe scene, you can really tell that Fredo loved his brother here, and majorly regretted his association with Roth, i feel for Fredo here
- Michael and Fredo - 'I know it was you, you broke my heart' Its great that Pacino and Cazale were great friends as it helped to produce these supreme scenes between the 2 brothers
- The Flashback scene - Sonny's in it, what more need be said
- The Killing of Fanucci - Wonderfully done, I love,Fanucci what a great character, De Niro does excellently here
- The killing of Ciccio - De Niro does VERY well here, you can just see him concealing his rage in the background, whilr Tommasino is talking to him, and then when he walks over its pretty much the only time we see Vito Corleone truly angry and he slices open his stomach - awesome

Deleted scene that i love is De niro getting rid of Ciccio's Two bodyguards, especially the sleeping one beautifully filmed.

Sonny - Well then, business will have to suffer, all right? And listen, do me a favor, Tom. No more advice on how to patch things up, just help me win, please

this is a tough one. so im gonna have to pick my favorite few scenes
5. sonny beating up carlo in the street(just awesome)
4. kay telling micheal she had an abortion(i know not a very happy scene but just so powerful. keaton and pacino=awesome)
3.when micheal tells appolonia's father of his intentions
2. the scene where micheal gives appolonia the necklace and the way he said prego was soo hot (sorry no deep meaning to this one just the pure pacino hottness)
1. the wedding night.(me being a girl obviously didnt like the seeing appolonias boobs, but i saw past that and i just though it was beautifully done. how micheal closes the doors, then gardually comes toward appolonia with those "bedroom eyes" like" you dont even know what i want to do to you." and then they kiss and its soo passionate. they love each other and have been waiting to be together and here it is. not that waited super long. but oh my gosh.

Michael Corleone: My father made him an offer he couldn't refuse.
Kay Adams: What was that?
Michael Corleone: Luca Brasi, held a gun to his head, and my father assured him, that either his brain or his signature would be on the contract.
