This is off topic, but didn't want to start a thread just for it. My sister and her husband were in Germany during Christmas. They were originally scheduled to fly out of Germany, to London, back to Baltimore. But there was fog in London, so all flights were cancelled. They wound up flying from Germany, to Paris, to New York, then were driving home from New York. Anyhoo, my sister (who is a big GF and mafia fan) was in baggage claim or someplace at the airport in Paris with her daughter and son. My brother in law is by himself, and he sees walk by him Furio,Federico Castelluccio. He just said he loved the show. Furio seemed nice and thanked him, but did it low key. I'm sure he didn't want a big mob to recognize him and come flooding over. So he just walked away. My sister at the point shows up, and my brother in law pointed out who was leaving. Of course, he had no camera or anything on him.

I really wouldn't be interested in an early 90's prequel. I do, however, think an "early years" movie focusing on Johnny and Junior Soprano, would be pretty interesting. They could set it in the 60's like A BRONX TALE. The storyline possibilities are endless. Throw in a kickass soundtrack a la BRONX TALE and I think it could be great. I'd love a prequel. I'd like to see when Tony made the transition to mob guy. Byt he way, on a rerun the other night which I had never seen before, why were Paulie and others speculating that Pussy had been turned way back in '95. That doesn't match up with the episodes does it?

They could re-cast a younger thinner actor as Tony in the early 80's, which if you think about it was really the beginning of the end of the mob as we knew it. But I'd still like to see some real period stuff, 60's and 70's.

How about this idea that would take place in between season four and five. A movie about Tony'sman hunt for Furio as he hides in Italy? It would be called The Sopranos: Furio's Revenge. Though if Tony and a few major character survive the finale...we'll see a movie. Too much money for Chase to turn down.

Watching the model train fall off the rails is probably symbolizing the last episode. The Soprano "family" seems to be going down.
I was expecting deaths of major characters, but im' still shocked nonetheless. At least Paulie is showing loyalty until the end.

OMG!! OMG!!! OMG!!! First of all, Sil?? Bobby?? NO!! And how funny was it to see Patsy running down the stream??
Btw, who did Sil kill? I'm still not sure, although he explained that it was someone who was playing both sides with Phil's crowd, but I'm still not sure who he was.
And Melfi?? How could she?? It's the second to last episode!! Why throw him out now when it's almost all over?? OK, she doesn't know that, but that was so sad to see, although Tony cracked me up with the magazine page.
Does anyone know - when Tony is in the safe house - is that the gun that Bobby gave him for his birthday??

I wonder if she'll be shown in the next episode, and now is when Tony probably could have used Junior for advice. He's lost Sil, so who does he go to now?

This episode probably gave me the most suspense out of all the seasons. We all knew what was gonna happen to Bobby when he hear he left his phone in his car.
Bobby was also stupid. I find it amusing that Soprano family is looked like total tools this episode, Bobby left his cell phone and gun in his car after a major hit on a boss of a family.

Very good episode! Though, it was very sad seeing Bobby go the way he did. Buying a model train, his hobby, and BANG, shot dead. Silvio is basically brain dead, that was tough to watch. Patsy sure looked scared running away, when's the last time ran? The scene with the Ukrainians was very violent. Very good episode.

Great episode - but totally too disgusted right now (because the Yanks went from 4-0 to going behind 5-4 the inning after the Sopranos ended )

Actually he knew about it, the cousins came and was doing the hit before he went to the store, if he thought Phil was going to wacked and it would be over. I am wondering how Tony feels about losing Bobby after finding out he is on Juniors side?

Man, where to begin. I'm still taking it all in. I never thought of Bobby as being that bright anyway, so him leaving the gun/phone in the car didn't seem odd. He was basically a good and maybe too trusting. I felt bad seeing him go. I hated to see Sil get shot, as he's being such a loyal friend to Tony. And yes Paulie seems to be the loyal one in the end. I would have guessed he'd have been taken out. I think Tony needed to get tough with AJ due to the circumstances, and wonder if it'll toughen him (AJ) up knowing he has to protect Carm and Meadow, or make him withdraw further. I didn't catch the Raging Bull reference (although I knew they were mimicing something) until you guys mentioned it. The music did sound GFish, but I couldn't quite make it out. And I agree too with SC. Melfi dropping Tony like a hot potato was unethical IMHO. No matter what your patient has done, or how you feel about him personally, it seemed she still had an obligation to help him. This episode was so fast pace it seems (and about 7 minutes shorter than an hour ) It just started and it was over. I guess a sign of how good it was (although sad). I've been very disappointed only a few times to see one my favorite shows end, but especially this show, this week and this episode I really am feeling sad that this will be the end of the Soprano era. I will always remember it as one of the best shows in television (Cable) history. TIS

Way I see it, Bobby will always have an affection for Junior, after all the time he had to take care of him in earlier seasons. I think that Tony will realize this.

The more I think about this episode, the more I am angry with the way that the relationship between Tony and Melfi was handled. I feel that it was rather contrived, that it was very against her character, almost as if they had pulled the excuse out of thin air. I know that they've been building towards it over the last episode or two, mentioning the study, but it still seemed forced, and something that was completely out of character for Melfi. I don't agree. Melfi has been contemplating dropping Tony for a few seasons now. Yes it was cold of her to drop him like that. But in the past she's been somewhat afraid of him. It was almost as if she kept treating him out of fear. This episode she seemed to have finally worked up the courage to stand up to him and basically tell him "Fuck you, I'm not afraid of you anymore." The're showing us that NO ONE seems to be taking him serious anymore. That no one is afraid of him anymore. It was an excellent scene. A fitting ending to their relationship.

but it still seemed forced, and something that was completely out of character for Melfi. It WAS out of character for Melfi but I think we saw another side of her.... her ego. She can't accept it that she was "fooled" by Tony's "illness". Her stock went WAAAAAAY down in my book tonight (just as Tony's did when he killed Christopher).

I did see that, DC!! Btw, was that Livia's house?? I was thinking that it was uncle junior's house. I thought it was Livia's house, too, but either way (if it was Uncle Junior's) its ironic that Tony went to the home of someone he hated.

I was wondering what house Tony was sitting in too. I didn't notice the cutout of Silvio. As far as Melfi, I too think that she's been having doubts about treating him, partly due to Elliot, who kept trying to discourage her from treating him. I think the fact that everyone at the dinner table now knows she was seeing Tony was the icing on the cake. Also, that article/book she was reading about "criminals", if I understood correctly, made her think Tony was conning her which made her afraid???? TIS Oh, one more thing. When is Ade gonna show up?

I'm not sure whose house, because it was at night. But wouldn't they have sold Uncle Jun's house to pay the bills for the home he's in?? I believe that they had already sold Livia's house. Uncle Junior's house still may not have been sold. It was in this episode that Janice brought to light the fianacial situation that developed with Junior. I'm thinking it was Junior's house. Livia's stairs to go upstairs were right next to the entrance. Junior's were in the living room. I'm going to re-watch it again right now.

Why would they "go to the mattresses" in a relative's house? Not too smart. (Kinda pissed me off that Sil didn't use that phrase, btw)

As for Melfi, obviously they're "wrapping it up" and cutting some corners to fit everyone in. It may not be as neat and tidy as it could've been, but, at least they're fitting them in... BTW - I noticed that "nobody" character I met at the ALS Walk a couple weeks was in the credits - and I still don't know which character he is!

Why would they "go to the mattresses" in a relative's house? Not too smart. (Kinda pissed me off that Sil didn't use that phrase, btw) Yea, I noticed that too Geoff. It would have been exactly like his character to use that phrase. I wonder why not? Poor Sil!!!! TIS

I hope they include Uncle Junior in the final episode maybe giving tony advice about what to do with the Phil situation b/c noboby in tounys crew except Paulie has seen as mob war.

My fear for this episode was realized. It's terrible to see Sil go...this guy I've been watching for nearly 10 years and the embodiment of The Sopranos for me. I always thought it would have been Paulie first..
I am fairly sure that was Livia's house. Again, I'm not sure that's the wisest place to stay. I suppose we'll see. Hopefully Tony gets to use his AR-10 machine gun.
I want a cardboard cutout of Sil!

I don't know why they would use junior's house and they certainly didn't sell it. Who would sell it; he's still alive.
I noticed the cutout of Sil, but Tony's not about to commit suicide.
Melfi is calling a spade a spade. Tony wants relief; he doesn't want to get better. Melfi has finally recognized that and does not want to facilitate his destructive bevahior. Remember the line by Billy Crystal in Analyze This: "What's my goal here? To make you a happy, well-adjusted gangster."
Don't give up on Ade. Sorry Olivant, it's pretty clear she won't mke an appearence.

Anyone else wondering why Paulie wasn't on the "hitlist"? I remember in season five when Tony had a sit down with Johnny Sac, Paulie was not present, only Chris and Sil were with him. Paulie doesn't really effect their buisness, as Butch said, "only management". Paulie was Underboss in name only, Bobby was in fact Tony's left hand man (as Sil was his right). Phil may reach out to Paulie as he is like Phil, both old school mafiosos. I think Paulie survives this series, which even furthers my belief that Chase will attempt a movie. Best line in the episode is when Silvio confronts Burt Gervasi... "There are some things you can't do over the phone."

The real shame is that Sopranos never will reach its 100th episode. That means the show can never be in "syndication," and channels like A&E will not be broadcasting the show in the future What was I going to say? Oh yeah - Phil's biggest mistake was not specifically ordering the destruction of Tony Soprano "as 1st Priority!" Above Sil and Bobby - kill the head, just like they did with JFK. Kill the brains, and the tail will swivel up (except in the case with the Kennedys, where I think younger brother Bobby was the real brains - they killed JFK because they thought it would simultaneously kill Bobby and his ambitions. They were wrong, and I digress). They left Tony alive, which was stupid. You'd have killed Tony first, everyone else would be scrambling. Just like you kill Vito Corleone first. Just like you kill Tony Montana first. The first hit should have been Tony, then the rest would have been easy pickin's. Heck, even if they weren't easy pickin's, at least they could have fallen into line eventually. You can't hide forever. Sil on life support? What's the point? And Tony's hide-out - might it belong to Silvio Dante? After all, that cardboard cut-out of Silvio is something else, and I don't think anyone would have had the time to decorate the hide-out with Silvio cut-outs - unless the cut-out was already there? Must be Sil's house.

i loved how during a very serious and life threatening situation, during their discussions the sopranos find time to still joke and laugh. ie: the raging bull mimic, and paulie pointing out AJ's lady friends tits being perky haha. shit cracks me up how even in the worst of times they do the stupidest of things.

Good episode, not quite as powerful as some of the other next to last of the season episodes, but still wildly entertaining.
Poor Bobby? Well, he did become a murderer just a few short months ago, so.... Those poor kids of his! Now they're stuck with Janice, that's if she sticks it out with them.
AJ? MAN UP for God's sake. Tony going off on him was absolutely the right thing to do. I feel bad for anyone with mental illness but could you grow a pair?
Sil, ah, Sil, so old school and seemingly loyal, but that's the life... Well, you did kill a defenseless woman in the woods, so whaddaya gonna do? What comes around goes around.
Paulie may very well be the last man standing, which is something I never would have guessed. Maybe when they're all gone he can be the boss of himself.
Cardi is DEAD ON in his assessment - what a Mickey Mouse crew! Even if they were to win this battle, you'd go to sleep after next week's finale just knowing that the characters would not be long for this world. I hate Phil's crew, too, but at least they resemble real wiseguys.
Melfi abandoning Tony really came out of nowhere, and realistically speaking, would be a severe breach of ethics. I don't give 2 shits for Tony Soprano, it's just that the show started out with their therapy sessions as one of the show's foundations, so if this is the last we see of her, I don't think it's really fair to the character. She's really been all but forgotten over the last few seasons.

I found it telling how Silvio is seen murdering "some guy" (I still haven't figured out who that person was), It was Burt Gervasi, Carlo's cousin. He was "made" with Gerry Torciano last season and made collections with Patsy.

Ok, GREAT episode! My thoughts: 1. If Tony didn't kill Chris, he would have been dead by now, even if Bobby usurped him. 2. I am pretty sure that was Junior's house. It just seemed familiar. 3. It seems as if Bobby's fate was sealed in the first episode. If he said, "No Tone, I am not killing this guy," Tony would not have thought as highly of Bobby and groomed him as his number 2- thus Phil wouldn't have put a hit on him. Just goes to say, live by the sword, die by the sword. 4. When I think of Paulie lasting so long- he lasted through the Columbo wars too- I am reminded of Scarface: "The people who make it in this business are the ones that lie low, fly straight." He will definately survive the finale. 5. If the show bases itself on history, if I am not mistaken, a New York family did overtake the NJ family. 6. Phil is a total prick. I think that truely, if Tony B didnt kill his brother Billy, Phil wouldnt have ordered the takeover of Jersey. I think the second biggest factor in his decision was his personality. He cant come to grips with the fact that, in his business, some people get caught and others dont. He resents the fact that he spent 20 years in jail, while Tony didnt. Phil, thats life, learn to deal.
Finale predictions in the finale thread.

I agree, I think Paulie lives. I think I would have like to see Sil get killed instead of getting shot and is now in a coma. Wonder who will be acting Consigliere in Sil's absence? Carlo or maybe Patsy would be my guess. I guess in the series finale ( ) Tony will strike back and have Phil, Butch, and Albie killed. And I'm sure Phil will have a couple other Soprano Family men killed. Should be quite a finale!

I digress....my apologies if this was mentioned above, but I don't have time to go through 111 posts.
I was a little surprised to see Patsy get away so clean. He didn't appear to be hit. Do you think that the hit was concentrated on Silvio alone? They did shoot at Patsy, but missed. Phil did name the big 3, but I would guess that they wouldn't let Patsy get away if he happened to be with Silvio. Exactly MS. Patsy is, after all, a shooter himself. So, if he happened to be in the way, I'm sure the New York guys figured they'd take him out as a bonus.

Phil did name the big 3, but I would guess that they wouldn't let Patsy get away if he happened to be with Silvio. The prime target was Silvio, so they needed to make sure that he was critically hit before worrying about anyone else that was with him. Patsy was the secondary target only because he was with Sil. At that point, anyone from the crew, on the hit list or not, would have to be taken out along with Sil. They definitely tried to kill Patsy because the shooter even emptied his gun trying to shoot him.

I'd be shocked if Patsy was a traitor, as rumored on some other sites. They were shooting at him to kill, not just to scare him off. Besides, in last week's episode he seemed very warm to the idea of being in laws to Tony. I'm really wondering if ever did get over his twins murder. Grief makes you do strange things.

[quote=Longneck] Besides, in last week's episode he seemed very warm to the idea of being in laws to Tony. How old is Patsy's son? He seems to be old enough to be involved with Meadow, but in the episode where he pisses in Tony's pool Tony mentions he should bring his son by to visit with A.J., maybe go in the pool. Wouldn't he be a little old to pal around with A.J.?

Well, think of it as the last hour of a movie. In a movie, they can sum up a person's whole life in just an hour! They told the story of Vito Corleone and his sons in less than three hours. I've made that point to day with some of the guys around the office to which they said, "Well then Paulie should die and so should Phil". I think there is a lot more to this (final) episode than someone getting killed.

I know with only 1 episode left, probably nothing will become of this, but didn't Silvio take all the family's records out of the safe at the Bing? I would assume that all those records are in the hands of local and federal authorities now. Just an observation. Hmmmm...another way for Agent Harris to get Tony to flip now that he has what he wants. Who I think will die in Made in AmericaButch DeConcini Albie Cianflone Carlo Gervasi Phil Leotardo

Question.
Last night while channel surfing, I came upon the part when they go to the safehouse. Did I misunderstand or does one of Tony's guys ask, when they are all in the living room, if he can order "A Beaz" (Pizza)?
I heard that too Don Cardi

Absolutely correct about the pizza.
I checked my tape and you can plainly hear someone saying they want meatballs, someone says "No vegetarian pizza" and you also hear another man say that they should send over some paper plates because "we ain't got no dishes here."
Can't wait until Sunday, but it's almost like losing relatives.
Ah well...this talk of food has, naturally, made me hungry.
Back to the kitchen...
