I guess there will be some flashback scenes in this one.

I still can't wait to findout who the FBI is digging up. I don't remember anyone be buried where they appear to be looking. Minnie Mitrone ?? The old lady Paulie suffocated for some pocket money. Honor, huh ?

I have a Sopranos CD that my wife bought for me. I listen to it quite a bit. I just love some of the songs especially the Italian ones. But, as I was listening to several songs, I thought I heard something very, very faint in the background, like someone was talking, almost inaudible. So, I did what adjustments I could with my CD player's controls and eventually I was able to hear what was being said: "Ade lives." Nice one Olivant. If tonight's episode is "Remember When", then perhaps we'll se Aid in a flashback, but...... alive???? Don't get your hopes up. TIS

Interesting that the the dead body of Willie Overall(?) was back in 82 when Tony made his bones. I agree that Tony/Paulie on the boat was wonderful. You could just imagine what each character was thinking and feeling without any harsh words or argument toward each other, they played it well. A couple times I thought Tony was gonna do it. When Paulie was stood but facing the water; and was it a hammer that was hanging on a hook between the two that the camera focused on? And Paulie on edge wondering but not saying anything. I really thought when Tony suggested fishing, that it was "Fredo" time for Paulie. A couple humorous tidbits from this episode: Are ALL of Paulie's shoes alike? Did you see him packing them? And, the poor stressed out soul at the mental instution that cried at everything. All and all, a very good episode IMHO. TIS

And was it just me, or did anyone else feel slightly seasick while Tony and Paulie were on the boat??? That up and down motion had me queasy, too.

Interesting that the the dead body of Willie Overall(?) was back in 82 when Tony made his bones. The timeline tonight revealed that Paulie is about 20 years older than Tony (making Paulie about 67). I never realized there was that much of an age difference between them.

I LOVED Paulie's shoes!! That and the buffet definitely had me laughing.
The mental hospital scenes had a Cuckoo's Nest feel to them, without Nurse Ratched. Very well done.
Other biggest laugh of the night - Junior's letter to Cheney!! Hee!!
SC, I did hear one more cat meow before they showed Junior, and I thought that was rather unusual. I've heard of Therapy Dogs. They have to be dogs of a certain personality (friendly, placid) so that they are of comfort to the patients. Having a cat, I would think that they are too aloof and too unpredictable for use as therapy. I was rather surprised to see Junior and the Siamese, and wondered if it was supposed to be evocative of the opening scene of The Godfather, except that Junior's near his end.

Yea, Junior's letter to Cheney was a crack-up. Junior figured he could relate. LMAO And, although I'd never considering whacking anyone, I can sure see how Paulie gets on Tony's nerves. That guy won't shut-up. And you know, he's a great character, but I never did trust him. I think if it came down to it, he'd easily rat Tony out. TIS

Did you see the season premiere? Did you watch last week? thus far, very little Phil and NY. Have you been watching at all? Nothing about Vito yet and the way that went down. What more is there to say about that?

I am sure I will be in the minority here, but I thought this show stunk! 6 episodes left and it's going nowhere. What are they setting up for? Maybe a ending that will disappoint all.
2 hits in the first 3 shows of the last season made by guys never seen before on characters that aren't main characters. After watching the previews for this week last week I was all excited and dud. Very little Sil, Bobby, and Chris thus far, very little Phil and NY. Nothing about Vito yet and the way that went down.
People will say it was funny, but is this now a comedy? Yeah, thats what I thought right after it ended but after thinking about it for a while now, I'm changing my mind. I feel like it was wrapping some stories here, or beginning to. Particularly Paulie and Junior. Both are fairly big characters to the show and deserve thought out and well-explained endings. Junior won't make it much longer. I thought a couple times durring the episode he was going to kill himself. I wouldn't be surprised if that happens or he goes out just because of complications with old age. It seemed like he was turning around a little bit towards the end there...however it possibly is just the meds. Paulie...who knows. Again, I don't see him making it to the end considering all of his recent complications and his easily triggered emotional reactions. The boat scene was played out perfectly, and Doc's killing was quite brutal (I dug the eye thing lol, though maybe a little over the top. Reminded me of Saving Private Ryan). Overall, a pretty good episode. Didn't love it, but it wasn't bad. Lol and Junior's one liners, what a nut job.

I think by now we can assume that many of what we thought might be storylines they'd wrap-up, won't happen. Don Foozbond does have a point, as far as concentrating on the more "major" characters. Tonight's episode showed us that Paulie may very possibly be gone; from last week, we know that something is brewing with Christopher and Tony's relationship; And with Johnny Sac gone, we can see tension within the families. Like JL said too, we will be better able to make a fair evaluation after the series ends, leading up to what we hopefully will all agree to be a satisfying ending. TIS

What more is there to say about that? Yeah I have watched.. Is it normal to beat the crap out of the family boss and have it just forgotten? Chris has been seena total of 22 mins, Sil a total of 4 so far this year. Bobby not since episode one.

That's how the show has been for years, I'd rather have a good story than to see each character at least once a show. I agree.... IMO its more important to further the storyline than it is to showcase each character weekly.

After 2 very good episodes to kick off the new season, last night's was pretty much what I expected, a "filler" episode. I thought it was very funny, if nothing else, and I always love watching Florida get lampooned (Don't panic Floridians, I'm a condo owner in Delray Beach). Anyway, Doc going was pretty much expected. It proves that Phil is back on his game, much the same way that it took Tony awhile to be decisive after he was hospitalized. Tony and Paulie ? I enjoyed it and whatever happens, happens. That's just how it is. These guys are forever contemplating killing one another. So to me, it was nothing really new. Tony with a possible gambling problem ? Chase must be running out of material because I don't know what to think of this. Is he making a Gotti like comparison ? John was known to go a little haywhire at the track and with the local bookmakers. Finally, Larry Boy. Read my posts - I KNEW it. Hey, I'm never right about anything so let me have my moment. I mean how many dinners was this guy going to attend while under house arrest ? So far, he hasn't done anything to hurt Tony, but that can change in an instant. In many ways, the Feds are like wiseguys, once they get their claws in you, that's it. Only 6 more episodes. Time will tell.

What I liked the most about it was the fact that Junior had significant screen time, he truley is a great character. I knew Doc was gonna get killed after Gerry was whacked, though I didn't expect Doc to get the ole "Moe Green Special".

Anyone else think that could possibly be the last we see of Junior? I feel like that was a fitting end to his character. No need to have him die. That last image of him rotting away deperessed in a mental institution was enough.

Hopefully that is not the last time we see Junior he is my favorite character. This was my favorite episode of the new season with all the screen time Junior and Paulie were getting. I was real nervous about what Tony might do. This new stroyline with the gambling reminds me when johnny boy told tony in season 3 episode 3 to never gamble so maybe it is all going to tie together.

Junior holding a pussy cat in his lap was very intentional.
I think this is the last we see of him -- although I think A.J. takes another shot at taking him out.
A couple "Godfather" homages: the shot to the eye which kills Doc (Moe Greene) and the Family Boss going to a sunny vacation location to visit a trusted, wheelchair-bound old family friend (Don Tomassino) and asking his counsel and advice.
The Miami setting, and the perky wife coming out to serve sandwiches to the Old Boss and the Young Boss while they talked business, was a little reminiscent of the Hyman Roth scenes.

I agree Enzo. I rewatched it this afternoon and got the same feeling. What though, I still can't figure out. I thought so too (and posted this earlier). My first thought about this was that it was a crude reference to the fact that Junior ate pussy in a show from a few seasons ago ( ). Think about it.... this episode was a lot about reminiscing of old times and Junior was now thinking about his "dating" women and now he's living in a nursing home subject to peeing in his pants. Its a fitting end to his character (as someone else pointed out here).

Another great episode. Finally an episode where Paulie dominates. I can't believe he's afraid of being approached by the feds. Isn't it in Tony Sirico's contract that his character doesn't become a rat? Great performance from Junior too. That character is still going strong, and Chianese plays him perfectly.

As I've said in the past, he's just a petty thief at heart. Two episodes that always come to mind with Paulie :
......
Don't forget the episode in which he beats up the gardener and steals his lawnmower.

Im glad Paulie survived this week, he adds so much comedy to the show. I thought the funniest thing he did (as sick as it is) was suffocating his Ma's (Aunt rather) friend after he was caught sneeking around her room for cash . Anyone think Larry Boy will soon be taking a dirt nap? I know he lied to the FBI, but still...he is talking to them.

Then there's the shoelace rant he went on.
And in Italy, talking to a whore, and saying how they could be related.
Paulie is the funniest character in the show without a doubt! Paulie, out to dinner in Italy, for me, is quite possibly the funniest scene in the show's history. I love when he's asking for "macaroni and gravy" and the waitstaff is talking about him in Italian right in front of his face. "And I thought the French had no class" or something to that effect. Hysterical.

Okay, this a possible major spoiler about Paulie so don't look if you don't want to. On another site, which I'd like to add has been right on all three episodes so far, it says that due to a beef with Phil and the New York crew, Paulie becomes a target. They decide to hit someone close to him so they target Little Paulie. When they gun for him Paulie's mom/aunt is accidentally gunned down because she's out shopping or something with Little Paulie. This is what supposedly sets off the major war in the last few episodes. New York decides to purge the Jersey family and absorb it's survivors. Paulie is one of several casualties that doesn't survive the series. Whether it's true or not, you're guess is as good as mine. But the site has been dead on for 3 episodes in a row. We'll see.

I can believe it. I think one finale that we've discussed is the gang war to end all gang wars. It's just so challenging to figure out how Tony will end up. But the more I think about it, Tony is heads above anybody else in his family and thatmay make him someone the NY families want to keep.

And was it just me, or did anyone else feel slightly seasick while Tony and Paulie were on the boat??? Brilliant, brilliant scene, and I think the rocking of the boat on choppy water was completely intended as a means of cranking up the tension. It worked, too. Paulie really is treading on water when Tony starts grilling him. Luckily for Paulie, he doesn't crack. When I think back to it, it's one of the best individual scenes of the season; look at Tony's inner frustration when Paulie doesn't crack. It's a frustrated gesture (when he considers the knife on the deck but goes instead for the beer) that to me shows how badly Tony takes being "wrong", and how competitive he is within himself - he was treating that conversation as if it were some sort of test for him too, not only Paulie. When he throws the beer at Paulie it was like a child who's been caught in the wrong at school, and knows that the only reaction he can do without losing face is to throw a crayon or something at the wall. It's always present, of course this needing to restrain passion and keep logic level: look at his tantrum in the Bing in the next episode when he loses a bet and starts throwing chairs at the pool table.

Johnny Sack and Tony seem to be friends, and they have many buisness dealing with each other. I don't the Lupertazzi's became a "rival" till Phil became Boss.

I think it rang late at night, Silvio checked it, and I always wondered why he had Tony in his phone as something that formal. I think. Silvio may not have stored Tony's number on the phone, and if thats the case and he had caller ID the readout would probably say "Tony Soprano".

It is surprising that a guy like Tony would have his name on caller id, because they do give you the option. Well, some carriers do, anyway.

I suspect you're right about the prank calls. "Uh, Don Carlo, do you have Prince Albert in a can?" "No, but I have Johnny Roselli in an oil drum" Bud-um-bum
