Just wondering how many others here are experiencing the Deep Freeze that we are here in the Northeast. OMG!! It's so cold!! And windy!! We're experiencing wind chill factors of -10 to -20. The water dispenser in my fridge actually froze solid because the pipe runs through my garage. And there doesn't seem to be any end in sight. Just cold, cold and more cold.

If there are any members from warmer climates, please send us some of your sunshine. It would be most appreciated!!

It's outrageous. Yesterday when I left for work it was 12 degrees, with winds blowing around 20 mph it felt about -3. This morning it's about 9 degrees, and wind chill around 0. I have gloves on and my fingers are still frozen. Waiting out in the cold for 2 buses, then walking from the bus to work is a challenge. Thank goodness for space heaters. I also didn't like it when I got my gas and electric bill yesterday.

It's about 10º here right now...with a wind chill factor of around -5º. I'm not going out except for when it's absolutely necessary. I suggest everyone else do the same. It's dangerously cold outside.

It's been -20 with the wind chills in Ohio, but not as bad as what the news reported in Chicago. Minus 20 degrees with wind chillds -44 degrees below zero.

Ok, not to boast or anything but yesterday we were unseasonably warm here in CA with close to 90 temp. and I'm guessing the Coastal area was at least in the high 70's. Today it's going to be a tad cooler reaching only about 80. :)Normal temps this time of year are probably around 60/65 high temp.

I really can relate to all you little "snow bunnies" out there. I hated freezing. I have packaged some sunshine and sending it your way to each of you. I had to send it COD though.

It's 6 degrees here this morning, but as I drove through the elevations, it dropped to -1. I don't know the wind chill, but it's colder than a witch's brass monkey.

Believe it or not though, I still haven't had to shovel snow yet this winter. Although I've driven through a couple of blizzards north of my home, I've only gotten a dusting on Friday at my home.

Tell me about Goombah, they closed the school for the past 2 days. Right here in Salem it is -2. We are going to have a heatwave tomorrow our high is supposed to go up to '20.

I hope that groundhog is right and we will have a early Spring.

My buddy lives in Mesa, AZ and they had snow a few weeks ago. I don't mean a dusting - at least 8 inches. I'm not a weather historian, but I have never heard of snow in Arizona.

When I was in college, I had this wacky professor who talked about the changing climate. By his prediction, Ohio will regularly have the warm weather the south is used by approximately 2030.

We watched The Day After Tomorrow last night.

Its pretty warm here in Morgantown compared to other places I guess.. 8 degrees, with a windchill of -4. High schools have been cancelled for a few days, and I know a lot of college kids just aren't going to class. I'm just glad I got a couple days off from work, so I don't have to leave my house for any reason. I have to walk to work tomorrow though

I don't know if its a law or something, but if its too cold, they have to cancel school (at least in WV). I'm pretty sure its for the kids who have to stand around at the busstop. No snow necessary.

All the schools are closed in Northeast Ohio, too. Very little snow, but the raw cold. I think it's too dangerous for kids to be outside walking to school, waiting for the bus, or playing at recess.

All we need is for a few kids to get frostbitten and some overzealous parent will sue the school district for keeping school open while little Johnny or Susie refused to wear a hat or gloves.

Interesting. I never new that. Here in New York, it takes something short of a disaster for them to close the schools. There have been times that we've had 3 or 4 inches of snow and they kept the schools open.

It's -12 degrees here with the wind chill factor, and they didn't close the schools.

My kids will want to move to Ohio or WV if I tell them about this!

Baltimore closes some schools early yesterday. Here it's because alot of the old, delapidated schools either don't have heat or the boilers are broken or some dumb shi*. Why did they have heat when I went to school?

I too have never heard of schools closing because of the cold, except of course if the heat didn't work or the pipes froze.

By the way, does anyone remember back in grade school, kids licking the metal playground poles on days like these, and getting frozen to the pole?

I hate to see what my natural gas bill will be next month. My heater is running just about non stop. Right now it is 5 above
-8 with the wind chill.

My gas and electric bill for last month was $628 and that was BEFORE the cold snap. I can't even imagine WTF it's going to be next month.

Now I have to go get the blowdryer and defrost the pipe going to the refrigerator water thingy.

The saddest thing is that the electric was only about $150 of that bill. Granted, I have all gas appliances as well as heat, but Geez Louise!! I can't believe how much this weather sucks.

EDIT: It's so cold that they had to suspend local ferry service to the train station. The Hudson is too frozen.

Damn... and I'm gonna have to go out and check my parent's house. Guess I'll leave the water dripping so the pipes don't freeze. If they're not already frozen... (lucky them, they're in Florida for the winter)

...And pick up some socks and undies cuz it's too cold to go to the laundromat, and SB hasn't volunteered to do my laundry yet...
