To those who have read the new book, I am curious as to the relation of the book to the Godfather II dvd. Is the book just a novel of the screenplay, does the book work somewhat with the movie, or do they stand completely alone? Any feedback would be much appreciated. Also, are there any parts of Vito's old days, like in Godfather II, in GFR?

I'm going to try to answer your questions as best as possible, without letting my personal opinions get in the way (too much). He does talk about the time period of GF2, however he does add new plotlines most fans might consider absurd. As there are diffrences between the Puzo book and the movie, Winegardener felt like impressing all GF fans by trying to conbine those two (book and movie)so it sometimes meshes with the movies, somethimes with the original book, but most of the time with neither.Vito is mantioned about as many times as Hyman Roth.
