As it turned out, the D-H position to sacrifice yesterday was second base. The following lineup, with any second baseman who's cap value was 4.5 or less, would have gotten at least 102 points.
Code:
 C Javy 5.5 9
1B Palmiero 4.9 9
2B Anybody 4.5
3B Mora 5.7 15
SS Tejeda 6.6 13
LF Bigbie 4.1 12
CF Winn 5.5 8
RF Ichiro 5.8 10
DH Edgar 3.8 10
PS Baltimore 3.6 16
-
Total 50.0 102 (plus second baseman)
The best lineup with only players in the D-H was, I think, the one above with Surhoff (2.8, 2 points) in right instead of Ichiro, and either Boone (5.2, 4 points) or Roberts (5.0, 4 points) at second.

That gets you 98 points.

Newhan at third (4.1, 6 points) instead of Mora, and Boone or Roberts gets you 97.

Another thing that I found interesting about yesterday is that I think, as a whole, we are a pretty competetive group.

I took a look at the Leaderboard, and, on the average, our top scores were better than the top ten players in the game.

On what I considered a mediocre day for myself, at least compared to the rest of the scores in our league, I moved up almost 1000 places in the overall standings, and our top five are all in the top 10%.

Although this is a daily game, I think that most players use the old JG "set it and forget it" strategy.

The 2 girls had the highest scores yesterday, thank you very much!! *pats self on back.*

Yes, Buffy. There was movement yesterday. I suppose the person in the middle on the rise you spoke of yesterday was moi!!

I'm nipping on Geoff's heels too. But we both share a Johnson today. Not a lot of movement to be done today I predict.

10 Things I Think I Think (ala Peter King)

1 - For the last couple of days, I've been spending my time being uncle as my nephew and two nieces are in town for their first real vacation by themselves without their mom (my sister). Man... I have a brand new respect for you parents out there. Although they can get a little rowdy, it's been fun. I'm their favorite uncle, of course!
2 - Difference of 8 points between the highest DH point total and lowest DH point total among the top 5... There's movement for you!
4 - NOMAHHHHHHHHH!!!! Cubbies tied for lead in Wild Card race! Whoo hoo!
5 - This run that plaw's been on has been pretty incredible. Save Yahoo football and a few of the minor games, I would be hard pressed to find a game that plaw hasn't finished in the top 3.
6 - MC called me a "rookie" in the fantasy golf thread. Rookie This! :p (I know, I know - I'm in last place!)
7 - Football is starting. Urlacher out for a few weeks already. It's great waking up everyday knowing that your team CANNOT and WILL NOT win this year!
8 - I bet it will be hard to find a group as competitive as ours - at least not one as entertaining.
9 - I haven't heard a thing since I wrote all those emails about the "Best Damn" show. It's just the man keeping me down.
10 - Buffy and I are so close right now, ________ [insert punchline here].

Pullleeeeze. Niners will be LUCKY if they go 4-12.

Let's see...we can use a healthy QB, an RB, a couple of WR's, a decent kicker and oh, I could just go on, couldn't I?

I have tickets to the December 12 game in Phoenix. Even after last year's fiasco in OT, I can still hope that the Cardinals - NOT the Niners - are the worst team in the league!

Ya know down here at the bottom with SC we don't have the stress of figurin' and calculatin' and weather-watchin' and double-headerin'. We just sit back and wait for that magical moment when by pure coincidence or divine intervention we score 100 pts in one game and everyone else goes down the tidy bowl.

BTW, SC how's your golf picks comin' along? Too bad the Big Pee couldn't stick it out.

I wish I had discovered it sooner - cuz this should show everyone's player points in real time w/ daily totals. Will save a TON of time updating daily stats!

(Too bad it doesn't display everyone's picks for the next day! )

I was just looking at some of the other stuff that this page links to....

This guy is a sick f**k.

BTW, it says something like "cached every 60 minutes". Doesn't that mean thatit refreshes every 60 mins, so scores won't be so up-to-date as the games progress?

How embarrassing to have a rain delay in Baltimore and I have two Orioles on my roster.

Our weathermen don't know how to tell time. They said for the last few days the rain wasn't gonna start until twilight and into tomorrow.

The regular ESPN site has more up to date scores.

I'm not sure what the time lag is, though.

I guess it is once per hour - I last checked it at 7:16:22 PM and that's the time it still says. I guess in a couple minutes it will grab a new version, but I'd wait a while longer any way.

(Once an hour sucks, but it still is worth it)

Yeah, REALLY lucky w/ those 2 pts. Unlike Douche Bag and Master Baitor who have Hafner tonight, with his 2 HRS (19+ pts ) already!

With a rain out that 2 would have been 0, so put a whine alert in front of that.

I just saw Hafner's 19. Good grief!!!!

Ease up Master Baitor. I'm not ready to give up 5th spot just yet.
