EA games has just released a trailer for a Godfather game based off of the film made in 1972. The graphics look really good, but I just don't see how they can make a game out of it. Here's the site for the trailer:
http://www.gamespot.com/ps2/action/thegodfather/index.html?q=The+Godfather

Tell me what you think!!!

That is freaky how much it looks/sounds like Brando!!

I'm wondering about game-play as well; perhaps we'd be soldiers sent on various missions or something, like beating people up.

I just hope Appolonia is in it

I read somewhere that Brando recorded his voice for this game before he died. Might have been a bunch of crap though.

This things a long ways off, Fall of 05, I'm surprised they're not just going to wait for the PS3 to come out.

For some misterious reason, I cannot see the video, I can just hear Vito's voice....

DonMichaelCorleone, how can you not like those graphics man???? You can see each individual strand of hair on his head.

Lavinia, I've had that problem too when trying to look at it through windows media player. Try going to http://www.gametrailers.com and looking at it. It should be on that main page. Then click on the Windows Media Player icon next the "The Godfather" and let it play.

Nope, it's true. Brando did indeed record his voice on there before his death.

I can't wait for this game to come out.

I tried following all steps you kindly suggested, but again no video. Just Vito's voice.... Thank you, anyway!

I'm totally hyped about this game. The graphics look awsome, I'm sure the gameplay will be great but if there are more mission intros like that I'll want to advance just to see the videos. One question:Is the game based on GF1 or the trilogy?

The GameSpot description says that it is based on the 1972 film(Godfather I). Also, EA is producing it, and they usually create some really good games. So, I can't wait to see what they come up with.

Is it just me, or did they make Vito look like Tessio.

DV that is the only thing that scares me. So many times in games the "cut screen movies" are perfect but the gameplay isn't.

I really hope this is like Mafia where the cutscreens are just like the gameplay

I thought it was bueno.

But, did anyone else notice that the lines he was saying were lines in the movie when he was not sitting down? That bothered me.

If it's done well, it's not so bad. GTA comes to mind. However, it also will conserve space on the disc, allowing more room for voice files (of which I'm sure there are numerous) and images/data, including FMV's and whatnot. So from a space standpoint, not having FMV cutscenes will be better for the rest of the components, if done well.

Okay I watched the trailer for the second time, now the voice sounds a little off to me. Sure, it may be hard to notice, but watch it again and Vito sounds lispy like when he says the word service, hmm. Anyway, is Michael going to be a part of this? Remember he gives out the major hits so doesnt someone have to do his voice which is like impossible to do.

but realize its not exactly the movie and he doesnt use the word for word plus your not the undertaker he was saying it to. it is a game and it is scripted different than the movie.

If they can make a game with the same type of gameplay as GTA, with the look and feel of Mafia (PC version), and a believable story that ties in with the film, then it should be good. C'mon, look how the LOTR games turned out. They were short, but awesome. The only bad movie based game I can think of that EA put out was Catwoman.

I've read somewhere that EA was busy to contract Pacino and De Niro for this game. They want too use the appearances and the voices of both actors.

This would mean that the storyline of the second movie will be involved to I guess? I would like to play young Vito and build up the empire of the Corleone family.
