Since the "Scarface Game" thread got turned to hell, I thought maybewe could have this thread strictly for discussing the Grand Theft Auto games (as well as other games such as Mafia)...

Well, I guess I can start with a question:

Which GTA is your favorite?

I would have to say Vice City is my favorite, but last night I played GTA 3 for the first time in a long time, and it was fun! :p

I had GTA III, and my friend scratched the CD to hell, so I picked up the Greatest Hits edition yesterday for $19.99. I still love GTA III, but Vice City had a character who could actually talk.

That is a big reason why I prefer Vice City. Although, GTA 3 did feature more of the mafia...

Agreed, which is why I think the next GTA should combine GTA and the game Mafia...

All I need is about 4 more unique jumps til I get 100% in Vice City

Great game, but not better than Madden

it's hard to decide which is better, gta3 had more of the mafia and vice city was all updated and crap so it's hard to decide. i did beat both gta3 and vice city 100%.

Yeah I only had to do like one more but I couldn't find it so I started over. Even though I had the guide, maybe it was a glitch?

The guides really ruin it...the only thing you really need the guides for are the jumps and the secret packages, and its usually just because you're missing an obscure one that you didn't know about or one that's blatantly obvious that you never even realized was there

Yeah the guide never really helped me with the missions and I only really used it for packages/jumps/rampages

I love these games. I got 100% on both, but you only get rewards for it on Vice City. I have not played it in a month, I am more into "MAFIA".

I haven't played Mafia yet but I was planning on buying it. How is it compared to the GTA games? Also for whoever has beaten Vice City %100, what is your favorite extra thing that you get?

I heard that the next one will be a 1970's Las Vegas thing. Hopefully you can run Casino's and stuff. I think it's called San Andreas or something. Maybe it will come out for the next game system or something

When is this rumor gonna die? :p It will not be another spin off, it will be a continuation of Fido and it will be San Andreas (san francisco).

DV's right, they are going with the big cities...

GTA III/Liberty=NYC/NJ

GTA Vice City=Miami 1980's

GTA IV/San Andreas=San Fran/SoCal I believe...

Did anyone use codes to beat it? I didn't, I think it takes the fun out of it. I might put them in to mess around but I won't save it. How about everyone else?

The games aren't really hard enough to warrent codes, but they are fun when you are just playing around.

The problem with some codes is they corrupt your game if you save and can permanently fuck up the game (I've heard from some people that it does something to the memory card and they have to re-format the card(s), but this seems a little far fetched.)

Yeah I've heard that if you use codes for Vice City sometimes you can't get all of the hidden packages

Something like that...also if you use the "Get Tank" code in GTA III it can cause problems because the tank you summon is 100% indestructable and can cause problems if you save it in a garage or its in the middle of a cars pathway during a mission...

Oh yeah well I guess no one should save with codes on. Anyway here's a question, in Vice City, what radio station do you listen to most often?
For me it's VRock

Yeah, I can't wait for some more mafia action on my PS2, GTA is great, but not enough mafia imho. I believe the "Hitman" games are somewhat mafia related as well...

I had to restart without cheats so I could get 100% and it actually wasn't that hard. Rockstar has to get more challenging missions.

Mafia is nicer, just because of the story. Then vice city because of the great graphics, then GTA because it's the first title.

If GTA III had kept having more missions like the mob missions for the Leones, then with out a doubt my favorite would be absolutely GTA III. But sure enough, those missions ended soon and it got boring. Therefore I like Vice City the most. Overall, the missions are much better, the landscape is much nicer, the characters are much cooler, and the vehicles are much original. The addition of motorcycles and flying vehicles clinch my oppinion of Vice City being the best.

There's a Patriot truck in the Wichita Gardens park in GTA III, and climbing inside begins a mission to collect 15 or 20 checkpoints in the alloted time (I think it's called "Patriot Playground"). My question is: Has anyone here ever successfully completed that mission? And, if so, how ?? I had little trouble passing the one in Portland (the Patriot parked at the Supa-Save), but the one in Wichita Gardens is impossible with all the steep hills, etc. Anyone have better luck than me?

the secret veilichle is an apache army helicopter.
here are the secrets: for getting to level 12 of the fire truck missions and beating it you become fire proof. for beating level 12 of the ambulence stuff you can run with out ever getting tired. then when you get 100% you get 200 health, 200 armor, infinate ammo, cars damage twice as hard, a shirt that says "i beat grand theft auto: vice city and all i got was this stupid t-shirt", and three body guards that you can hire for 5 grand a peice will be over by the bar in your mansion.

you download mods off of websites and you can get some cool stuff. i'll post a website with some of the stuff on it later. i'd get the pc version if i could hook a ps2 controller up to my computer.

your welcome. they have some pretty cool stuff on that site.

For you GTA3 fans i know of a mod in the works that you might like. it allows you to go to the air port in vice city, and fly to liberty city (the city from GTA3). it'll have everything vice city has, motorcycles, helicopters, the new weapons, and all the other stuff from vice city. thats adding the two best mob related games of all time onto one disk!

I've only played the first 2 Gta's. I like the first one better than the 2nd. Am I missing much in regards to GTA 3 and Vice City? Which is better Vice or 3?

Equal. I like GTA3 for the urban type of area and it is easier to create gang riots. But I like GTAVC because of the tropical area with Choppers and bikes, etc.

It's going to be most likley, October 2004. San Andreas is going to be based on San Francisco too. Another urban area, which is what I like. I'm hoping it's more about the mob like 3 was. and the main character is going to be Fido (thats the GTA3 guy. thats what every one calls him on the IGN GTA board since thats what maria would call him and r* never gave him a name.)

"Somebody told me when the bomb hits, everybody in a two mile radius will be instantly sublimated, but if you lay face down on the ground for some time, avoiding the residual ripples of heat, you might survive, permanently fucked up and twisted like you're always underwater refracted. But if you do go gas, there's nothing you can do if the air that was once you is mingled and mashed with the kicked up molecules of the enemy's former body. Big-kid-tested, motherf--ker approved."

man i wish i had it for the pc, i hope when the next gta comes out it has multiplayer for ps2, by the way i heard a rumor it was supposed to take place in the 70s, not sure if that's true though, oh and a quick question how many people can play at once for the pc multiplayer?

It's not in the 70's. The original RUMOR was it was gonna be like "Casino" but it is not true.

take it easy. don't take it out on pat. its an easy mistake because the san andreas fault line is in the desert.

From what I've heard, GTA:San Andreas will be a mix of the movies:Get Shorty, Desperado, Jackie Brown, Boyz In Da Hood, Swordfish, and Go. Hopefully there will be a hint of the mafia in this game. You just can't have the game without them.

I wish it would be about Tommy Vercetti or someone else because I didn't like Fido. He never said one word throughout.

Yeah I like Tommy V better to he's funny and cooler than fido any day. Plus I might have said this already but Tommy V's voice is played by Ray Liotta the guy who played Herny Hill in Goodfellas and that just makes Tommy V all the more cooler on my list.

I gave it some thought, and I was just curious. How many references in Vice City are there to GTA 3. I picked up on Donny Love, Fernando, Lazlo, and The Forreli's in Liberty City.

Fido? I like Lyle Douglas a whole lot better. It's shame that they could hire actors like Frank Vincent and Micheal Madsen to play roles but they couldn't get a voice for the silent guy. That's messed up.

actually there are refrences from vice city in GTA3 because although it was made before vice it also takes place 15 years later.

marco's bistrill (the place where sonny talks to his family) which was suppose to be in liberety from vice city was in GTA3 also. in gta3 lazlow says "hi this is chatterbox and i'm lazlow, because i got kicked off the rock station" and also toni who hosted flash fm in vice was hosting flashback in gta3. theres tons more. almost every thing in gta3 was in vice, which is good when making a prequel.
