A funny moment in the Sopranos is when Tony is having dinner with Carmela, and Tony tells her he has something to confess. Carmela gets her whine ready to throw in Tony's face, but he tells her he is seeing a therapist. Carmela is happy with the news and Tony says something like, "You would have though I was Hannibal Lecture or something." lol

One of my favorite scenes from the series was in the early moments of the first episode. I loved when Tony runs over the gambler, then jumps out of his car and says "hey mister are you okay?" As he's asking, Tony starts beating the tar out of the guy. I thought that was a great summation of what the series was and the kind of character Tony Soprano would become.

My favorite line: "Cunnilingus and psychiatry brought us to this."

Favorite episode: "Guy Walks Into a Psychiatrists Office"

just watched "Proshai, Livushka" and I have to say it gets instant status as one of my favorite episodes ever.

of course that CGI-generated scene with Nancy Marchand scares the hell out of me. I guess they felt like they had to have a last scene with Livia Soprano, but really, it would have worked out for the better if it was a phone conversation or if she was just lying in bed played by a stunt. also of course that wasn't enough to make this episode any less enjoyable.

it's the only one to rival "Pine Barrens" in terms of funny moments -- AJ calling for "grandma?" after his conversation with Meadow about the symbolism of death lol Silvio's line "we all know how much you loved her" lol that extra in the back who returns to the party and sneaks back away after seeing what Janice is up to lol overall the way people reacted to Livia's death was hilarious and especially Janice's reaction was priceless. I'll be suspicious of every person who makes a big scene like that from now on.

Arguably, "Proshai, Livuska" also contains the show's single most unusual moment: Tony opening the mirror door and the viewer seeing Pussy's reflection.

I have to amend my favorite episode to "I Dream of Jeannie Cusamano." The scenes in which Tony sees Livia smiling after her "stroke" to the end, where Tony and his family end up at Artie's new restaurant, were awesome. Throw in Mikey Palmice and Jimmy Altieri getting whacked and Artie pointing the shotgun at Tony for the Vessuvio fire, that is one amazing episode.

wow that only goes to show how great this series was.

you and I seem to have total different tastes goombah tongue I didn't like "The Pilot" (especially not the car pursuit scene), I didn't like "I Dream of Jeannie Cusamano" very much (it's not a bad watch but I just didn't buy it) and I didn't like "Guy Walks Into a Psychiatrists Office" very much as well wink

No biggie, Tony. That's what is great about this forum to give our opinions. How boring would it be if we all agreed?

I do like "Pine Barrens" as one of my top 5 Sopranos episodes. As was mentioned, the little stuff between Chris & Paulie was awesome (eating the ketchup packets, Paulie's crazy hair, the makeshift shoe). And I agree it was great writing that the characters did talk about the 800 lb. "elephant in the room" after Livia died. Especially Carmella's "cut the shit" attitude toward Janice about Livia.

I've just watched "Whitecaps" again, the Season Four finale. Certainly one of my favourites if not my very favourite.

As a portrait of a marriage it's up there with Bergman; as one of family, it's unmatched.

Gotta love the ending with Dino blasting away on the stereo.

I love it. I think it's the first time I've actually caught the hilarity of playing Dino at top volume, as opposed to some grunge or punk or heavy techno or something.

I think my favourite has to be 'funhouse'.
That episode was huge and I think it has the most kick ass ending, with Tony blowing cigar smoke to Keith Richards and the Stones 'Thru and Thru'.
Absolutely awesome, sends shivers down my spine.

I like the episode; "The Telltale Moozadell". AJ and his pals get busted trashing the school pool because of the leftover pizza he special ordered from a local pizzeria. The pizza parlor guy identified the pie to the cops as a custom order by only one customer - AJ Soprano. Classic Sopranos twist. Ha!

The whole scene with the cops talking to the pizzeria owner was straight out of "Dragnet". Same dialogue type and delivery style.

Episode: College.
It gives a good view point on everything. Family, vendetta, loyalty, crime, murder, guilt, lies, cheating, manipulation, stupidity, drugs, and the ducks.

Scene: At Jackie Aprile's Funeral. Where Tony is standing there as the new boss. And AJ is watching him.

Favorite Line: "I wish the Lord would take me now"

best scene - the golf course scene, Rusty Irish being thrown away - another great episode, S1 #6, "Pax Soprana" - Junior at the top of his game;

best line - "his house looked like shit", or Junior after hearing that Rusty Irish is selling dope to the neighborhood kids: "oh really? what's that smuggling-fuck name?"

november, 5th update:

best episode - "University"; for a long time, all I knew about "The Sopranos" was some of the plots from season 3, and I guess it still affects me as an affective memory.

it took me months to watch the final episodes of S2 (which is great too) but I'm just watching S3 episodes one after another and with the exception of its opener this season is just perfect for me. I really like all the subplots and side characters.

it's especially amazing how they create "stand alone" episodes that are just as great and as important as those that really contribute to the flow of the series. "College" and "Pine Barrens" are the ones that come to mind but season 3 seems to be full of these moments. "Another toothpick", starring Bobby Baccala, Sr. and "Second Opinion" with the doctor who dodges Junior are among my favorite episodes too;

best scene - yeah, the golf course scene with Dr. Kennedy;

best line - "If it's a boy, we'll name him Ralph after me; if it's a girl, we'll name her Tracee after you. that way she can grow on to be a cocksucking slob just like her mother. ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR FREAKIN' MIND?"

I guess Ralphie is my favorite character. the most layered and surprising and by far the craziest guy on the show. that scene when he just stares and laughs his ass off while Silvio is beating up Tracee is more telling that the one when he actually kills her.

Haha my girlfriend HATES Ralphie! (understandbly) but I loved him!
I love characters who are pricks!

I also loved Richie Aprile (different as he was).

Another quality episode for me is Commendatori, when they go to Napoli.
That is awesome. I love the parts where Paulie is just trying to fit in with the public and that guy accuses Paulie of being from Nato and cutting his ski lift cable! (which was an impromptu/real scene).

Watching Analisa is a pretty good part of the episode too!
Also, the bit where the kid sets of the firecrackers, gets whooped and lectured by Furio and the Police drive off. Tony and Paulie are standing there shocked but their two Cammoristi associates say 'Don't worry, this is Naples university'. Awesome.

yeah Richie April made Season 2, but I believe it's David Proval's acting that made that character so great; Ralphie really is one hell of a development.

"Commendatori" is one of my least favorite episodes, but we agree on Paulie - he is the one great thing about that episode. nodoby is really enjoying the trip except for Paulie who just passes through things on a happy daze. also right after that scene with the firecrackers Tony turns for Paulie searching for a word of wisdom but Paulie replies with another one of my favorite quotes:

"I'll head back to the hotel. I gotta take a wicked shit." lol

Yeah I agree, he had a real psychopathic/slippery/dangerous streak that Proval did so well, I thought he was so good in it.
H kind of reminded me of Scarface.

Yeah Commendatori probably doesn't have much content but it was the scenery for me, especially in contrast to Jersey.
Haha yeah Paulie was on fire on that trip!

I like it when they are at dinner and he says to Tony about Don Vittorio:
"T, if we give this guy a golf club he'll probably try to f**k it" haha.

I wonder why (I can't remember) why Puss or Sil didn't go?
I guess they had to man the ship back home.

Pussy had just came back from his "back treatment in Puerto Rico" and was a strange presence around them. it works as punishment as well since he was still under suspition and was the only one left at NJ with Silvio even being passed over for the much younger Chris.

I guess someone had to be in charge at home and if it wasn't Tony it had to be Silvio.

Now you see, at least Ralphie provided some comedy. Like calling Paulie's mom and the "sucking a cubscout's dick" thing. However, Richie was just an all around ass hole that deserved what he got. I about jumped out of my seat when it happened. Like it was a football game or something.

After seeing season 4 episode "whoever did this", the murder of Ralphie (but especially the aftermath when a doped up Christopher comes and helps Tony getting rid of the body) is definitely one of my favorite scenes. grin

yeah, the intervention scene is just priceless. it only works to humiliate Christopher and the way the mob guys twist the whole thing around was so funny. it highlights very well how self centered they all were - especially Tony of course; on the heels off Pie-O-My's death, he storms out when Ade mentions the dog, as this is the final straw lol lol

(interrupting Ade) - "Wow wow wow wow... you killed a dog???" lol

My favorite episode was He Is Risen.

My favorite line: "He was gay, Gary Cooper?"

My favorite scene. I have two favorite scenes actually: Ralphie beating that miserable whore to death and Ralphie giving Pauly's mom a call.
