I meant by the look. I know noone can look exactly like Pacino but I think Farrell is at least better looking than Imperioli making him a better option because lets face it, Mike cannot be ugly if GFIV is made with flasbacks.
I also know noone can act the part as well as Pacino but if there is going to be a GFIV with flashbacks and a younger Michael, we might as well throw some names out. Just bout anyone thrown out here is probably unworthy, but o well, maybe thats why it would be a bad idea to make a 4th movie.

We havent had too many suggestions for Luca, who is a hard one to cast. I'm just throwing this out, but what about the guy who played Big Pussy on the Sopranos? I was watching a show about Sopranos last night and that popped into my head. The only thing is, we dont want GF4 to be a Sopranos cast reunion.

Well, I suggested Ah-nold...

How about Howie Long? You need a big, hulking, ominous-looking guy. Of course they'd have to mess his face up with makeup first. Of course he isn't the greatest actor of all time, but this isn't the Saga of Luca Brasi ... he wouldn't likely have too many lines, and most of them would be pretty mono-syllabic.

Please DO NOT ever mention that again. That man is some retarded jack off, God knows how he became an actor. He delivers his(few)lines as stiffly as possible. The man is a worse actor than Sophia Coppla, and it takes a special kind of human to achieve those honours.

i agree with dsc both about diesel  and about turning gf4 into a sopranos reunion. the actors would have no chance to be viewed as the godfather characters because they'd basically be reprising their exact sopranos role with godfather character names. fans would never be able to distinguish between the dual roles.

p.s. speaking of terrible acting in the godfather and playing the exact same character in every movie every made, what about talia shire. i'm no movie buff, but has she ever not played an annoying, whiny little brat. i guess she's been in three best picture oscar winners so maybe i'm an idiot.

I dunno, I thought she was Academy Award nominated (perhaps won?) for her role as Adrian in Rocky?!? They don't just do that for mediocrity or bad acting...unless I'm mistaken. I am not a big Rocky buff.

What about this?

Instead of having a new movie, let’s have a new HBO show. Wait! finish reading this.

I, for one, and sick of the direction the Sopranos have taken. It’s still good, but it is now far from being a pure family/mob show. There’s just so much other crap that I find it hard to watch…and it’s my favorite show all time.

Ok so we call it “The Godfather Chronicles.” In it we can follow several time lines. For example

Vito between GF2 flashbacks and GF1 wedding.
Sonny growing up and during the 5 family war.
Michael…all over the place.
And Vincent in and after the 80’s.

There are tons of Italian American and Italian looking actors (Cuban, Spanish, Black Irish) out there who would love the work and have tons of undiscovered talent. One of my other requirements would be. NO DAVID CHASE. Don’t get me wrong…I love the guy. But I just want some old-fashioned story telling without his quirkiness and weirdness. The other one would be NO SOPRANOS PEOPLE. Again, I love these guys but we need new blood.

Unfortunately this would never be done. Oh and my choice for LB is Gandolfini. I know I said no sopranos guys but this one’s a no-brainer.

It might work. But I somewhat agree w/ you, if there are any Sopranos guys, we want probably 1 tops.

I'm not sure about James Gandolfini playing Luca Brasi. He hardly looks like him. I would recommend Steve Schirripa (Bobby Bacala). I think he looks a lot like Luca Brasi. Maybe someone here can put a pic of him next to Luca's and maybe we can see some resemblance. If it were up to me, I would definitely choose him for this role.

Gandolfini better lay off the cannolis, or the only GF role he would be able to play would be Clemenza.

I think an HBO Godfather series could be cool...

How about "The Corleone Chronicles" ? You could set up parallel story lines in the 1930s, the 1960-70s, and the 1990s-2000s - the three prime time periods not already covered by the films. (You could even have episodes set in Sicily 1895 - the back story of how Antonio Andolini and Don Ciccio became enemies)

Edit: Frankie BlueEyes, i see this is just about exactly what you propose.

Obviously they'd want to wait a couple years after The Sopranos ends, but it could actually be pretty good.. FFC could serve as ExProd and supervise scripts, direction, etc...

I agree - no David Chase (except perhaps as an occasional guest director.)

I'd severely limit any Sopranos actors from the cast, with the possible exception of Michael Imperioli as a 20-ish Michael Corleone (see posts way above). I don't think anybody else really fits any of the roles anyway.

Ehhh, I dunno about Wahlberg as an actor. I think he was pretty good in a couple of his movies. And since the two guys mentioned most often as alternate choices for young Sonny are Leonardo DiCaprio  and Scott Caan .. it's not like we're talking about Sir Laurence Olivier as competition....
DiCaprio isn't a bad actor. I can't see him as Sonny, but I wouldn't mind him being in GF IV.

U need no name actors to play the parts so u do not compare there performances during the movie...u will miss the whole movie because of it.

I woke up this morning with nothing to do and went to bed with only half of it done.

Don Cardi cool

This is an excellent resemblance. As Don Sonny Corleone said, Luca Brasi may not have been so heavily built when he was younger.
