You are correct, sir! An additional factoid about Columbo's real esate career:
The NYTimes did some in-depth articles about the Italian American Civil Rights League. They interviewed Joseph Cantalupo, Columbo's "employer." They asked how a lowly real estate salesman like Columbo could afford a lavish, upstate NY estate. Cantalupo replied, with a straight face:
"Mr. Columbo is our best real estate salesman. He has the most sincere group of clients. No one ever tries to cheat him out of a commission." :rolleyes:

Perhaps he should have answered " Mr Columbo is our best real estate salesman. No one would ever DARE to try and cheat him out of a commission!"
