Can you ever see one coming out and actually being good? It seems that Goodfellas, maybe Casino to an extent, was the last of the good Mafia films. Okay, Road to Perdition? one may argue, but it was the Irish Mafia--if such a term exists--not the true Sicilians that we have come to adore and be fascinated by.
Can you honsetly see another movie coming along which would offer something to at least be as satisfied by as with Goodfellas? If so, what director could successfully handle the job? At the moment, I can't look past Martin Scorsese or David Chase.
If a new Mafia film came out based on a real life Mob figure, who would you like to see one on? Personally, a good, accurate one on Capone would be tremendous. Who could play him?

Hi Capo! I'd love to see another mafia film. However, like I've said before, we must be happy with a "good" film, because we know it won't come close to GF. I wouldn't mind seeing a true story of a real life gangster of more recent history, and since I don't know any of their "in depth" stories, I think it'd be interesting. Of course then it would depend on how it's put together; and the cast, director, and everything else that makes a great movie great. There's always hope!! TIS

That's why i'm still crossing my fingers for " Mario Puzo's Omerta" starring Michael Imperioli as Astorre Viola.

I think there are two main obstacles in the way.
First, so many mob films have been made, including a lot of shit ones. As we all know, ideas are running dry.
The Capone suggestion is an excellent- and exciting- idea, but I think the problem with films about 'real life' mobsters is typified with Gotti. The films i've seen about him are tacky and less than impressive.
Secondly, the Sopranos clearly rules the roost at the moment. All the best 'mafia' and Italian actors are in it. As a director, I would be apprehensive about making a new mob flick, either because it might not match up to the Sopranos, or because it would have to feature a good few Sopranos actors.
Does that make sense?

Yeah, I dont think they will make a Italian Mafia movie with the Sopranos still on and being so popular. However, I wish they would make another Gotti movie, with an all-star cast. Now it could include his death.
I buy you out. You don't buy me out.
