Is there actually any news of the Omerta being made into a movie, dont get me wrong I know im always a fan of the books more but I think it would be good. I thought it was a very clever novel with a clever ending....Who would play Astorre? Hmm i dont know why but John Cussack comes to mind but he's not Sicilian enough. Oh and any ideas who you all would like to play the other characters eg..
Nicole, Don Raymond Aprile, Detective Cilke, the Sturzo brothers.
Im not naming them all!

When the book came out "they" said it was to be a Miramax movie - but I haven't heard anything about that since

Although i thought that omerta was not as good as the other novels, i think that it would make a very good movie. The ending was vert good and it would be interesting to see who was picked for each role.

I think the movie would be good aslong as it wasnt changed too much like most novels made into films are.

But with a strong cast or at least one mainstream actor would hopefully make it good. I still stand by John Cussack for Astorre

I thought that the guy who played a "holy defender" in the Mummy (I guess his name was Odeyd Fehr) had a more "Medeterraenian Look" and provided that he could master a slight Italian accent, I think he'd be a better Astorre than Cusack (I doubt neither of them can sing...but if Keanu Reaves can, then anyone could)

I'm not sure about cusack, while there is no doubt about his talent, i dont think he woulds play a good italian.
Andy Garcia springs to mind but again i'm not sure.

I think garcia would be good enough to play Guiliano but i'm not so sure if he'd fit the description of him in the book.

I think he does actually fit the description of the book. I mean he's handsome, well built, very calm etc.

Astorre - Andy Garcia
Don Aprile - Robert De Niro or James Caan
Nicole - Marisa Tomei/Lori Laughlin
Valerius -
Marcantonio - Tom Cruise?
Cilke - George Clooney
Mr. Pryor - Robert Duvall
Some thoughts.

Tom Cruise would never play a support role.

I like the idea of Duvall, when i saw gone in sixty seconds i thought it was great to see him, he would really suit a role as mr pryor. Who would play the twins? it would have to be unknowns unless there's any famous twins that i am forgetting. I still like venus williams as the policewoman, but it'll never happen.

Turi, who do think could play in the sicilian, do you think Johnny Depp would make a good Pisciotta or do you think that he is too Spanish as opposed to italian?

I like the idea of John Cussak or Andy Garcia to play Turi. I dont think (well to me) theres much distinction between Spanish and Italian, obviously there is but to me there both mediteranian and wouldnt make much difference. Like Pacino playing a Cuban in Scarface. Jonny Depp can play any role he wants. To me he's the most versitile actor. So yeah he could play Pisciotta

It has been awhile since ive read Omerta, i would have to reread it again to get the characters in my mind. But one character that stands out Don Raymonde Aprile, could be done by Christopher Plummer, though this is only a personal prefference. I dont know if anyone would agree with that or not.

I cant see John Cussack as Astorre mostly for his work in light hearted movies, or comedies. So the thought of him playing a serious role doesnt strike me as a good thing.

It would suck like hell if they scrapped it. I loved the book. Oh well, maybe "the Family" will be made into a film.

hI. I THINK THAT THIS COULD BE A GOOD CAST IN OMERTA MOVIE.

ASTORRE: JUDE LAW (I KNOW HE DOESNT LOOKS LIKE A SICILIAN BUT HE FITS THE DESCRIPTION) OR ANDY GARCIA.
DON APRILE: JAMES CAAN.
NIC0LE: RACHEL LEIGH COOK.
MR PRYOR: ROBERT DUVALL.
KURT CILKE: MAYBE TOMMY LEE JONES.
PORTELLA: ROBERT DE NIRO.
ROSIE: KIRSTEN DUNST.
STURZO BROTHERS: MAYBE JOHNNY DEPP COULD BE STACE.
INZIO:ANTONIO BANDERAS.

WHAT YOU THINK?

I like the idea of Garcia as Astorre. That's always how I pictured him. How about Chatherine Seta-Jones as Rosie and Al Pacino as Mr. Pryor?

I can really see James Caan as Don Aprile. That's a great idea.

James Caan has the attitude and the mindset to play the character.
