What surprises me is that, apparently, Al Bruno never kicked up any money to the Genovese administration.
According to Anthony Arilotta, he would "only" send down a van full of liquor and italian products for christmas. That was his only kick up.
Also, when Arilotta was made by the Genovese Family, he was told not to tell anything to Bruno. Bruno eventually figured it out but he was never officially told that his protégé has been made. Arillotta is a piece of shit. So I wouldn't put too much stock in anything he says. Its all gonna be "self-serving." His podcast never lasted very long!

I never watched it, but I suspect its because he really didn't have any solid content to speak of. And viewers saw through his facade.

Killing Bruno started the downfall of the Genovese in Springfield.
They had a nice thing going on. They were completely running the place and for some reason, they messed it up over a personal issue.
I really don't get why Artie Nigro was so much against Bruno and pushed the Genovese to have him killed. I completely agree with your assessment of the situation. Springfield was always a cash cow for the Luciano/Genovese Family, dating all the way back to the 1920s-1930s. And despite the occasional corpse that showed up, that crew generally flew under the radar successfully and with little fanfare for many decades. As far as Nigro goes, he was basically a nobody. A Johnny-come-lately, who, amazingly, reached (or was installed) in a position of power and decision making that he obviously wasn't cut out for. Because clearly, he was no brain surgeon and didn't have the smarts for the job. He fucked things up pretty good over there...buying himself a life sentence in the process.
