Arrested in Lebanon Bartolo Bruzzaniti, a fugitive from the 'Ndrangheta, wanted by four prosecutors
He had escaped arrest ordered against him as part of the "Levante" operation coordinated by the DDA of Reggio Calabria which had involved a total of 36 people.

He had been on the run since October 2022, less than a year, therefore, but the importance of his arrest derives from the criminal depth of the character, considered among the most important drug traffickers at an international level.

Mario Romeo is his name his life is not in danger. There were two other people in th car with him. The Fiat Punto runs along the straight road, skirting the Porada park. Here, behind the small car, a cabin van appears , with tinted windows , which follows in the footsteps of the small car and probably rams it , because the signs of a strong impact remain on the back of the car.

The driver of the Fiat speeds up, but someone starts shooting from the window . The result is a chase that lasts five hundred meters, while bullets hail.

Romeo, of Calabrian origins, with a small history of theft and fraud behind him, loses control of the car and violently collides with another refrigerated van. The race ends in via Wagner, on the corner with or via Locatelli, ten meters from a traffic light. Meanwhile the attackers flee at full speed disappearing into thin air.

Romeo lives in Seregno, in the Crocione district , an area with a high density of offenders . Many investigations into organized crime that have had the town of Brianza as a background. For now, the security cameras in the area and the cell phones are under the scrutiny of the investigators .

Two alleged members of the Italian mafia 'Ndrangheta are arrested in Paraguay
Both detainees, who may be extradited or expelled, had a red code by Interpol and would be "trying to coordinate contacts and links to be able to direct their actions" from South America.
07/14/2023 - 9:05 a.m. CET
Two alleged members of the powerful Italian 'Ndrangheta mafia were arrested in Paraguay in an operation by the National Police, which was alerted by Interpol, the Paraguayan Minister of Justice and Interior, Federico González, reported last Thursday.

The apprehended, of Italian nationality, were captured on Wednesday in the town of Itacurubí del Rosario -190 kilometers northwest of the capital Asunción- as part of the ICAN project, a global rapid alert system and multilateral police cooperation in the fight against this Italian criminal group, González explained to ABC Cardinal radio.

"There is a close link with the Italian security authorities, specifically we work with the Finance Police and we are entering into a scheme to fight against precisely this mafia, criminal, large Italian group," he said.

The Paraguayan head of Justice and Interior indicated that the corresponding procedures are being carried out for the "extradition or eventual expulsion" of these two citizens. In fact, the local media confirmed that this Friday the Italians will be handed over to Spain.

Both detainees had a red code from Interpol, and they would be "trying to coordinate contacts and links to be able to direct their actions" from Paraguay, he asserted.

González said that the Government of Paraguay is "giving a frontal fight to transnational organized crime", an issue that - he assured - was part of the conversation agenda between the Paraguayan head of state, Mario Abdo Benítez, and his Italian counterpart, Sergio Mattarella. , during the official visit of the European president to the South American country last week.

"It was one of the points on the agenda debated, negotiated or discussed between the presidents," he asserted.

The detainees in Itacurubí del Rosario are alleged cousins ??and answer to the same name, Giuseppe Giorgi, 26 and 22 years old, respectively, the head of Interpol Paraguay, Carlos Duré, told ABC.

Two other people who were with the Italians aboard a vehicle were also arrested in the capture operation. They are Julio Das Chagas, Brazilian, 41 years old; and Osvaldo Cáceres, Paraguayan, 25.

'Ndrangheta Bank
For years, investigations have focused on finance as a real highway for clan money. A monstrous turnover, 130 billion a year, which alone would restore the state's accounts. And that is cleaned up with the complicity of consultants, hackers and compliant officials

The latest data, necessarily approximate and probably approximated by default, comes from Eurispes. The turnover of the mafias, the institute estimates, is 130 billion euros a year. A third, about 40, are moved only by the 'Ndrangheta. To be clear, it is four times the value of the last budget. Ten times the funds that the government would like to use for the construction of the bridge over the strait.

When the shadow of the 'Ndrangheta hangs over Lyon
JULY 20, 2023 AT 01:06 PM - UPDATED AT 14:25 BY JUDITH DARGERE
Presumed member of the 'Ndrangheta, Michelle Bellocco was arrested in Lyon. Italy requests his extradition.

Michelle Bellocco, 27, was arrested on July 11. Targeted by a European arrest warrant and alleged member of the 'Ndrangheta, a Calabrian mafia, Italy is requesting his extradition.

He was arrested during an identity check at the Perrache station by agents of the Border Police (PAF), said the zonal director of the PAF, Laurent Astruc, to AFP.

The agents would have noticed his false papers, and Michelle Bellocco was " confronted with his true identity ", according to Laurent Astruc. Italian police made contact with officers after the man called his mother in Italy.

Supposed member of the 'Ndrangheta mafia
According to Italian media, Michelle Bellocco is part of the Calabrian mafia 'Ndrangheta. This mafia is known for arms trafficking, drug trafficking, extortion, among others.

The man had escaped his house arrest in Calabria in November 2021 before he was sentenced to eight years and four months in prison for various offenses against property and persons, theft and resistance to a person holding public authority, between 2014 and 2017. He is therefore sentenced in absentia and is the subject of a European arrest warrant.

According to the Italian media, the Italian carabinieri would have sought his trace, particularly in the Lyon area, where a large Calabrian immigrant community is settled.

Bellocco, one of the most powerful Calabrian mafia families
Michel Bellocco would belong to an ' ndrine (small groups generally formed around a family, particularly powerful which exercises its activity in the fields of extortion, racketeering, arms and drug trafficking or even games of chance.

Last February, Edgardo Greco, wanted for 16 years for a double murder and also an alleged member of the 'Ndrangheta, the powerful Calabrian mafia.

Connection to the mafia? Police are searching the rooms of a restaurant in Leipzig
The Italian mafia was investigated in Leipzig on Thursday.

Listen to article • 2 minutes
The police investigated the Italian mafia in Zentrum-Nord on Thursday. The raid is part of a nationwide investigation into the 'Ndrangheta. The rooms of an Italian catering supplier were searched.

Leipzig. On Thursday, Leipzig was the scene of a nationwide investigation into the Italian mafia. At around 2 p.m., the business premises of an Italian catering supplier were searched on the corner of Apelstrasse and Dessauer Strasse in the center north. The public prosecutor's office in Paderborn had ordered the raid and, according to senior public prosecutor Ralf Meyer, is investigating "trading of narcotics in significant quantities". So it's about drug trafficking, in which, according to Meyer, the Italian mafia 'Ndrangheta is involved.

145 kilos of marijuana: The discovery of the first search
According to Meyer, it is currently not possible to say whether the mission was successful. First, the authority had to evaluate what was taken from Dessauer Strasse. Several police cars and customs were on site. A video also shows an officer loading a computer into a police car.

It is not the first search of this investigation, according to senior public prosecutor Meyer from Paderborn. It is a follow-up assignment. On June 29, documents were confiscated during raids in Duisburg, Kassel and Höxter. Their evaluation revealed clues that ultimately led to the search in Leipzig. In addition, 145 kilograms of marijuana were seized at the end of June. During the first operation, the officers also found connections to the 'Ndrangheta, according to Meyer.

Mafia operates internationally
The 'Ndrangheta is a southern Italian mafia from Calabria that operates internationally. The group makes most of its money from smuggling drugs, especially cocaine. Outside of Italy, she is particularly active in Germany.

Operation Malea, 'Ndrangheta between Mammola and Luxembourg: the top roles within the gang (NOMI)
At the top of the "dome" of Mammola, according to the investigators, there is Rodolfo Scali, already involved in other investigations in the past. A police superintendent was also among those arrested
July 25, 2023

The staff of the Reggio Calabria police, in Italy and abroad (Luxembourg), enforced a precautionary custody order issued by the investigating judge of the Court of Reggio Calabria at the request of the Public Prosecutor's Office-District Anti-Mafia Directorate, directed by the prosecutor Giovanni Bombardieri, against 12 people (8 in prison and 4 under house arrest) suspected, for various reasons, and in the state of the proceedings in the preliminary investigation phase and subject to various evaluations in the subsequent phases, of the crimes of mafia association, extortion, attempted murder, illegal possession of weapons, possession and sale of drugs and private violence. In addition to the recipients of the restrictive measures, a further 7 individuals are under investigation in the criminal proceedings, in a state of freedom.

The role of Rodolfo Scali
At the top of the same, and therefore with the role of local chief, according to what was reconstructed in the course of the investigations, there is Rodolfo Scali , already involved in the past in the investigations "Prima Luce", "Crimine" and "Minotauro". Always according to the investigators, Scali's brother-in-law Damiano Abbate , with the role of capo società, and Isidoro Cosimo Callà, the capo crimine, supported Scali in running the association and in implementing the criminal program. Nicodemo Deciso, Nicodemo Fiorenzi, Raffaele Romeo, Domenico Spanò and Ferdinando Cimino are believed to participate in the same association .

"Now let's find a place in the mountain." The help of the Mammola boss to the fugitive
In 2017 Rodolfo Scali would have responded to a request to cover the escape of a member of another clan. "It's not possible in the village, it's full of cameras."
For the investigators, Scali demonstrates "once again absolute control of the territory". He first highlights "the impossibility of hiding the fugitive in the town of Mammola as the town was full of television cameras". Then «the possibility of finding accommodation for the fugitive in the mountains and countryside surrounding the municipality of Mammola». Scali, moreover, "would have also taken care - the investigators summarize - of providing company to the fugitive (thus demonstrating that he had the availability of places, means and men)".
With regard to the identity of the man to be hidden, the anti-mafia magistrates point out that Renzo Loccisano, 56, was on the run from March 2017 to March 2018, when he was arrested in his home in Gioiosa Jonica, a town bordering Mammola. And he was sentenced to 12 years and 4 months, exactly like the person Scali talks about in the interception in which he discusses the help to be offered to the fugitive ("now perhaps they will give him twelve years definitively").

Fight against the 'Ndrangheta, Australian police and Reggio magistrates compared
The meeting served to discuss the collaboration between the DDA of Reggio Calabria and the AFP on the fight against gangs in Australia

A delegation of the Australian federal police (AFP), led by commander Raegan Stewart and by the national manager examination of ACIC (Australian criminal intelligence commission) Jason Halls, was received by the Reggio Calabria district anti-mafia directorate and in particular by the prosecutor Giovanni Bombardieri and by the 'added Giuseppe Lombardo.

The meeting, organized at the Cedir as part of the I-Can (Interpol cooperation against 'Ndrangheta) project, was used to discuss the collaboration between the DDA of Reggio Calabria and the AFP on the fight against the 'Ndrangheta in Australia.

Prosecutor Bombardieri expressed great appreciation for the visit of the AFP delegation who recalled how yesterday afternoon's meeting at the Cedir "followed last year's meeting at the international conference against Italian organized crime which was held in Melbourne and which testifies to the ever-increasing commitment of the Australian federal police in contrasting the 'Ndrangheta projections in that country”.

The I-can project, launched in 2020 in Reggio Calabria, now includes 18 countries and aims to spread awareness of the fluid threat represented by the 'Ndrangheta all over the world and to share experiences and information.

ITALIAN MOB BOSS EXTRADITED TO ROME FROM LEBANON
PR-F with AFP
03/08/2023 at 18:59

He had been wanted for two years by Interpol. The Lebanese authorities have found this member of the Italian mafia, wanted for drug trafficking. He is extradited to Rome to stand trial.
A major drug trafficker subject to an Interpol red notice was handed over by Lebanon to Italian authorities on Thursday and extradited to Rome for trial, a Lebanese judicial source told AFP.

Bartolo Bruzzaniti, alleged member of the Calabrian 'Ndrangheta mafia and involved in "international cocaine smuggling operations" between Europe and Africa, was handed over by the Lebanese General Security to an Italian security delegation, which taken by private plane to Rome, the source added. He had been arrested on July 1 in a restaurant in Jounieh, north of Beirut, when his visa in Lebanon had expired.

The 48-year-old man had been wanted since October 2022 by the Italian authorities in connection with a large anti-drug operation involving the seizure of more than four tonnes of cocaine worth around 800 million euros, according to the Italian media.

The fugitive was "wanted by the Italian authorities on the basis of a red notice (from Interpol, editor's note) issued on October 30, 2022" according to the judicial source. "The extradition process is the result of more than two weeks of negotiations between the two countries," she said.

On Tuesday, a Lebanese judge had issued an extradition warrant against him after approval by the Lebanese Minister of Justice.

The "rogue priest": 40 years on the border for Don Giuseppe Strangio, "peacemaker among the 'Ndrangheta clans"
From the 100,000 lire banknote, the proceeds of a kidnapping found in the priest's possession in 1984 at the Polsi party for the pax mafiosa. Also football and politics in the biography of the priest…
Posted on: 07/08/2023 – 6:54
by Pablo Petrasso

REGGIO CALABRIA According to the collaborators of justice "the "rogue priest" did not disdain to have relations with Giovanni Copelli, brother-in-law of the boss Giuseppe Piromalli" and "he had the role of acting as a peacemaker between the criminal consortia, working to settle the conflicts". Religious, political, close to deviant Masonic circles, that of Don Giuseppe Strangio is a complex story.

The Gotha trial dissolved - in the first instance judgment - the doubt about the bad reputation of the priest of San Luca: a stigma linked to the Sanlucote origins or a path pushed beyond the border between the exercise of the Faith and neighborly relations with the mafia houses? For the Court of Reggio Calabria, the criminal hypothesis ascribed to the defendant is "widely integrated". Which would be "fully inserted in the intertwining existing between the criminal families of the San Luca area" and "in the dynamics of the opposition of the two groups Nirta-Strangio and Pelle-Vottari". The parish priest of that sanctuary for years dirtied by links with the 'Ndrangheta would have had a "strategic role (...) of peacemaker in the conflicts between the criminal consortia". A frontier priest in the bad sense of the term, where the border often borders on relationships with mafia families. History that has its roots in a distant era, one in which the gangs of Locride made the leap: from coppola and lupara to millionaire investments..

Killer for the 'Ndrangheta, new accusation against the pastry chef from Brescia
Web editorial
BRESCIA AND HINTERLANDToday, 10:20

A new charge of attempted murder for Francesco Candiloro, the 44-year-old from Calabria, but resident in the Brescia area for over twenty years, who in October 2021 was arrested on charges of being a 'Ndrangheta killer and was convicted in the first degree to life imprisonment. According to the investigators, the man, who led a double life as a minority partner in a pastry shop in the city , had killed Marcello Bruzzese, brother of a collaborator of justice, on Christmas Day 2018 in Pesaro.

Although he had no precedent, he was considered "unsuspected but has a high-level criminal profile". He is also charged with the crimes of receiving and possession of common and war weapons which, according to the investigations of the prosecutor of Brescia Teodoro Catananti, the group to which Candiloro belonged would have wanted to use to kill a former member of the Cosca Crea. a further sentence of six years and eight months had been handed down .

The commando
In the early hours of today Candiloro was reached in prison by a new precautionary custody order , issued by the investigating judge of the Court of Catanzaro, at the request of the local Public Prosecutor's Office - District Anti-Mafia Directorate - directed by the Prosecutor Nicola Gratteri. The measures were issued against four subjects - two in prison and two under house arrest - seriously suspected, in the various roles attributed to them, of the attempted murder of the Reggio Calabria entrepreneur Pasquale Inzitari, on the evening of 25 July 2017. , in addition to Candiloro, by Michelangelo Tripodi, Gianenrico Formosa and Antonio Domenico Scarcella.

The Killer Expedition
According to the reconstruction of the investigators that evening the killer commando went into action in the square of the "I Portali" shopping center in Corigliano Rossano , after having carried out several inspections and studied in detail a plan to kill the entrepreneur. The members of the commando had waited for him in the parking lot, where the firing action of the criminals had begun, which had not been successful only due to the prompt reaction of the victim, who had taken refuge in a shop. The investigations made it possible to demonstrate that the "expedition" had been carried out with the aim of facilitating the mafia activity of the 'Ndrangheta and made it possible to identify as alleged perpetrators Francesco Candiloro and Michelangelo Tripodi, responsible with Candiloro for the murder of Bruzzese.

Two Albanians, part of the 'Ndrangheta, are arrested in Italy

From Vitjon Nina

August 12, 2023 / 20:44

Two young Albanians have been arrested in Italy, after being identified as members of the 'Ndrangheta mafia group.

Damiano Maiolo and Tritan Leika, aged 24 and 29, were arrested after checks carried out in their homes, where 10,500 euros and 130 grams of cocaine packed in doses ready for sale were found.

The tools used for the preparation of cocaine as well as stolen objects were also found in the apartment.

Investigations against this criminal organization began in early December 2022, where dozens of gang members were arrested.

Damiano Maiolo is definitely Italian, from the first name to the last name. So it was one Italian and one Albanian. I wonder how an Albanian becomes a member of the Ndrangheta, geez nothing is sacred anymore. Everyone just does whatever they want.

In southern Italy like Calabria there are Albanian villages and some do have Italian surnames.

I can't speak for this particular case but there could have been mixed marriages. Off the top of my head I can't remember the family name but there was a case where a Ndrangheta family had a son marry the daughter of a powerful drug lord in Colombia that made a perfect fit.

I think I remember hearing about it. Italian surnames, yes, but his whole entire name is Italian. I think at that point you should just be considered Italian anyway, they really don't look all that different.

Just because your Italian is not enough to join the Ndrangheta. It is mostly done by one recognized Calabrian Ndrangheta family marrying another. There could be exceptions like a son of a prominent Ndrangheta family marrying a non Calabrian. The off spring son will be eligible to join. Then there is the example of the Colombian marriage, which I mentioned in the previous post, which is purposely done to strengthen family business. I could see the daughter of an Albanian mafia boss marrying the son of a prominent Ndrangheta family and their male off springs can join as well. Some of the examples I gave you are exceptions. These examples I gave you would surely need approval from the higher ranks.

Yes Maiolo are a well known family. Anyone born to at least one parent who is an Albanian citizen shall automatically acquire Albanian citizenship and shall be registered as an Albanian citizen. The entitlement to register as an Albanian citizen shall not expire after the person has reached 18 (eighteen) years of age.

I'm willing to bet anything that the Ndrangheta is doing this to gain a foothold in Albania, if I'm not mistaken they're known for stuff like that. It's a very calculating and methodical organization.

From what I read so far the Ndrangheta seem to have a good relationship with the Albanian mafia.

I think his mother is Albanian so he is a Albanian citizen, his father is Calabrese.
