Hey Irish Nirvana played in '89 before they really got famous in Vera, Groningen my hometown.

No I was too young, Vera still exists it's a very small venue but many bands have taken the stage, some of which would rise to great heights. Including U2, Nick Cave (& the Bad Seeds), Sonic Youth, Nirvana, The White Stripes, Franz Ferdinand and Editors. But artists such as Junior Walker, Sun Ra or Curtis Mayfield also once performed there. In the three decades since its existence as a concert stage, Vera has built up an international reputation. Many bands even make a detour to play in Vera again during their tour.
