Not only was he described as an “important figure” in narcotics trafficking and union racketeering on the NY-NJ waterfront for the Genovese mob, but he was also known as a dangerous strong arm working under Genovese capo, then underboss, Anthony (Tony Bender) Strollo. Gernie didn’t have a happy ending, but sometimes in the underworld, what goes around comes around – even if you’re six feet under.

Exactly. Lol. I was actually surprised that the Joe Gernie article turned into such a deep and extensive full-blown biography of his life. Because you said you were just composing a quick "Racketeer Snapshot" of him.

He was definitely a close associate of Tony Bender and other top guys. Thats for shit sure. (until he got clipped that is). Lol
