Rosen was important enough to be included in the famous May 1929 gangster convention in Atlantic City. How'd you like to have been a fly on the wall of that get-together?

One of the most powerful organized crime figures of the 20th century. Harry Stromberg was a force. People don't even understand what this man meant to the underworld.

I enjoy learning about all these different people I've never heard of before (like Stromberg) or didn't know much about, (remember, I'm still a student...lol) just from all the articles and charts NYM has researched and written, my own individual research, and, of course, various discussions and contributions from members of this forum.

Having said that, and maybe this is too much of a "student" type question, but if you don't ask, you'll never learn....do you think, other than Lansky, that Jewish gangsters are overlooked?

Probably the most overlooked man from the Lansky group is Alvin Malnik. Lansky's millions went to that man. That man is still alive. On May 23, he'll turn 90. I am intimately familiar with that man's power. In Miami, he is everything.

No they don't. And I admit, that I too, was one of those people. Because although I was aware of Nig Rosen's name and some of the basics, if was only as I did a deep-dive into his background that I fully grasped his true power and influence. Not only in Philly, but back in NYC too, and in the larger scheme of things, across the country. He was an important figure in the early development and expansion of organized crime.

Thats actually one of the key reasons why I enjoy, not only researching OC, but also creating these hierarchy charts. Especially charts like this "69th Street Mob," and others like Lansky, Piccolo, Strollo, Corbi, Scalleat, etc. Because although I enjoy all the work I do, I thoroughly enjoy learning new things about fellas that are either not well known publicly, or are "technically" known, but the true extent and power of their crews was never clearly delineated before.

After researching all the members and affiliates of Stromberg's Philadelphia organization and putting together his chart, I realized just how large a presence he (and they) had really in Philly. The true breathe and scope of this crew even rivaled that of the Philadelphia "Family" of Cosa Nostra itself.

I'm sure thats one of the reasons why Philly's Jewish Mob was given such respect.

Now to me, THAT is really saying something!

What I'm also finding very interesting is that this chart has already received an unusually large, disproportionate number of views. And it hasn't even been one full day yet, a full 24 hour period, since we first posted it...For whatever reason that is.

Most of our content does garner a healthy amount of views, but Stromberg's "69th Street Mob" has really surprised us. So I guess that you guys, and the public at large, are really enjoying this particular chart too. I'm glad to see that everyone likes it.

My answer would often be a yes. A big yes!

Many people are just obsessed with the Italian Mafia, per se. And thats all they typically follow, thinking they were the only major entity who ruled over the American underworld.

When in actuality nothing could be further from the truth, as is clearly evidenced by the above posted chart and historical background for this iconic Jewish Mob.

I've never heard of Malnik but I looked him up briefly...very interesting the little bit that I read. Can you tell us more about him?

MS, if you check the "associates" list on our "Meyer Lansky Syndicate Chart" you will find Alvin Malnik's name there. Lol. He was a top Miami-based frontman for Lansky who handled untold millions for them, washing and reinvesting racket dollars into legitimate enterprises for many years.

I am currently working on two brand new hierarchy charts. Each of which, to the best of my knowledge, has never before been researched or designed into a chart. These charts depict the true membership, breadth and scope of two east coast Cosa Nostra networks.

I think everyone is really going to enjoy them. At least I hope so....We'll see. lol

They'll be coming out as soon as I can finish em up. So keep your peepers peeled!

BTW, I'm not gonna reveal who they are because I don't wanna ruin the surprise for everybody. But I assure you, it'll be well worth the wait.

Great read on Nig Rosen and thanks. The US Mafia was nothing without the non-Italian mobsters.

Rosen was one of the first non-Itals (after Jake Guzik) that caught my eye back in the days or more than 10 years ago when I started my research on the mob.

If u look closely enough , u can spot Louis "Gimpy" Blavat ..father of notorious Philly DJ Jerry "the geator w/ the heater" Blavat...most recently passed away last month...in his book , he said in fact his pop was an "associate" of the "jew mob"...young Jerry went on 2 carouse w/ the likes of later south philly dudes..a driver 4 Angie Bruno & co-partner of ScarfoSr., s Fla. intrests in his best days...

I never bothered reading the book by Sheeran, so I can't speak to that per se. And a lot of what Sheeran put in the book was BS anyway. (the part about him gunning down Crazy Joey Gallo was enough for me). Lol

Max “Willie” Weisberg and Samuel “Cappy” Hoffman were the owners,.

Cappy Hoffman was called “the vice king” of Atlantic City. He died in 1970 at the age of 65. Between 1923 and 1962, he was arrested 23 times.

Weisberg was the “chief lieutenant” for Nig Rosen.

Very interesting! My grandfather and his brother are on that list.
