San Luca families are complex there are Nirta's who became enemies of other Nirta's and Strangio's who became enemies of other Strangio's. After the Duisburg massacre they do seem united again.

In Germany, the first conviction for belonging to the 'Ndrangheta was issued
The convict is a waiter from Ueberlingen born in Italy, found guilty of drug trafficking and support for a foreign criminal organization

February 10 2023

The court of Constance pronounced the first conviction for belonging to the 'Ndrangheta issued in Germany. This is what the radio and television station "Mdr" reports , adding that the convict is an Italian-born waiter from Ueberlingen who was found guilty of drug trafficking and support for a foreign criminal organization. At first instance, the sentence established a prison sentence of three years and six months, definitively reduced on appeal to two years and five months. The man was arrested in May 2021 as part of the operation "Platinum-Dia", conducted by the authorities of Germany and Italy. The target were the so-called Giorgis "Bovincians", a clan of the 'Ndrangheta of San Luca. The family is suspected of having imported cocaine from South America into Italy via the Netherlands, Belgium and the port of Hamburg.

The Ueberlingen waiter worked in the restaurant that the investigators assign to the "Bovinciani" with two others, respectively in Baden-Baden and Radolfzell. The Friedrichshafen police had managed to introduce an informant into the clan, who met the convict in the Ueberlingen club in 2019. During the interview, the waiter allegedly spoke of the Giorgi clan's activities in international drug trafficking. In particular, the waiter allegedly claimed that the crime family could obtain a kilo of high-quality cocaine for 3200 euros. Between April and May 2019, the man offered the informant several kilos of cocaine. In the end, the deal fell through, probably because at least 50 kilos of cocaine destined for the Giorgi clan were seized in the port of Gioia Tauro. As highlighted by "Mdr", with the conviction by the court of Constance it would be the first time in which the presence of the 'Ndrangheta was attested in a judicial way in Germany.

The "King of the Fish" released from prison. Boss Muto leaves the 41 bis and returns to Cetraro
He was serving a 20-year sentence in Sassari prison after the "Frontera" trial. Accept the lawyer's request
Posted on: 11/02/2023 – 7:45

COSENZA Franco Muto, boss of Cetraro and "king of fish", was released from prison on Friday evening from Sassari prison . Muto, 83 years old, had been imprisoned in Sardinia (and associated with the 41 bis regime) since September 2022, after the final Frontera sentence was issued. The decision of the surveillance magistrate of Sassari came following the request of the boss's lawyer, Michele Rizzo, of the Paola court. The lawyer has advanced a request linked to the precarious health conditions of the boss.
Yesterday the decision: Muto left the cell in which he was locked up ready to move to Calabria. The "king of fish" - who has to serve a 20-year prison sentence following developments in the Frontera trial - is considered, by "career" and criminal influence, one of the historic bosses of the region. A capobastone whose figure recurs in judicial documents both in reference to relations with members of the aristocracy of the 'Ndrangheta of Reggio, and because of the links with the Neapolitan Camorra. Starting from the interests on the fish market, the influence of the Muto clan extended to sectors such as the control of extortion and drug trafficking, up to touching - through the interposition of nominees and white collars - the entertainment market along the coast Tyrrhenian. For some collaborators of justice, Muto would also have played a role in the path that led to the entry of sectors of Cosentino's 'Ndrangheta into the ranks of deviated Freemasonry. The 'Ndrangheta of the Jonico Mandamento and "the archipelago" of gangs united by the same "criminal project"
In the motivations of the process, the reconstruction of the dynamics that lead to a single collective criminal design is summarized

The investigation into the 'Ndrangheta families of Locride
The trial was born from the investigation by the Dda of Reggio Calabria which in July 2017 had identified the hierarchies and organizational charts of 23 families of the 'Ndrangheta present in the Locride area leading to the arrest of 168 people accused, for various reasons, of mafia association, illegal possession of clandestine munitions and common firearms and war weapons, bid rigging, illicit competition with violence and threats, fictitious registration of goods, money laundering, fraud and aggravated fraud to obtain public funds and numerous other related crimes, with the aggravating circumstance of the mafia.

CLAN MONEY
'Ndrangheta international, the broker who invested coke money in cancer clinics
Interview with Gratteri and Nicaso on Rai3. "Only 1% of European criminal assets confiscated". Hoard of weapons under graves in Bosnia
Posted on: 10/02/2023 – 17:38

ROME «It's not worthwhile to commit a crime because anyone who commits crimes thinking of settling down, thinking of finding a job, is ultimately a useful idiot, a fool, a servant, an 'Ndrangheta boy. Anyone who thinks of joining the 'Ndrangheta to get rich is just a fool who will let himself be used".
Thus began the prosecutor of Catanzaro, Nicola Gratteri during the interview in the Rai3 broadcast "How many stories" during which the new book written with professor Antonio Nicaso, "Fuori dai confine" was presented.
The magistrate explained that the life of a 'Ndrangheta never ends in beauty: «Rarely does a mafioso die a natural death. Either he dies killed or serves many many years in prison. The numbers already tell us that it is not worthwhile to commit a crime: prisons are full, they are overcrowded. Calabrian prisons are full of prisoners, in Italy there is enormous overcrowding. Someone arrests them, someone condemns them.

Only one percent of the wealth of the mafias is confiscated
According to Professor Antonio Nicaso, connected from Canada, «at the beginning the 'Ndrangheta was culpably underestimated, it was used by the ruling classes, by those who had an interest in maintaining the ancient privileges.

They probably knew he would leave Australia this was their only chance.

Antonio Strangio , recognized by officials of the Immigration Office in Bali, where he was on holiday, before returning to Adelaide . Caught thanks to a "Red Notice" from Interpol , the drug trafficker from San Luca is (also) an Australian citizen: he would never have been extradited. Political-bureaucratic choices that appear to be in open conflict with reality.

Limbadi, a grand master of Freemasonry was Diego Mancuso's chauffeur
by Sergio Pelaia —February 12, 2023
In the papers of the Olimpo investigation, the role between Angelo Boccardelli and the boss emerges

For "Addeco" the name is enough: Diego Mancuso , 70 years old also known as "Mazzola", is one of the historic bosses of the Limbadi family ("Mbrogghia" branch) who, released from prison, would maintain the role of "promoter and organizer of the articulation of the 'ndrina operating in the area of ??Tropea, Ricadi and neighboring areas». This is how the prosecutors of the Catanzaro DDA describe him, while for the investigating judge who, at their request, recently sent him back to prison for mafia association and attempted extortion, his would be "a life dedicated to crime". Instead the name of the man who, according to the "Olimpo" investigation, would be his "driver" and "trustee" is perhaps less known in Calabria. It is Angelo Boccardelli , 73 years old from Segni (Rome) "constantly present" alongside "Addeco".

The trip to South America for coke before the murder, shadows of 'Ndrangheta in Pescara
Two arrested for murder in August. The instigator would be Natale Ursino, a native of Locride and in relations with the Calabrian crime
Posted on: 02/14/2023 – 17:46

PESCARA A funded and not completed mission would be at the origin of the murder of the Pescara architect Walter Albi, which took place in Pescara on August 1, 2022, in the outdoor space of a bar along the so-called Strada Parco. An episode that reveals a disturbing infiltration in Abruzzo of the 'ndrina Ursino of Locri, in the province of Reggio Calabria. Six months after that murder, the investigators and investigators have come full circle.

The transoceanic journey from South America with cocaine
It would have been Natale Ursino, originally from Locri but residing in the Teramo area, arrested this morning at Rome Fiumicino airport, who ordered Albi's murder. According to what was reported this morning at a press conference by the chief prosecutor of Pescara Giuseppe Bellelli, Albi, in possession of a nautical license, would have had to deal with a transoceanic journey from South America with a load, presumably, of cocaine. An assignment for which he would be paid handsomely. However, the commitment would not have been kept and this would have led to the "sentence" of conviction carried out, according to the Public Prosecutor's Office, by Cosimo Nobile, known as Mimmo, a multiple offender from Pescara. It would be he who also pulled the trigger against Luca Cavallito, with whom relations had abruptly ended months earlier. The 49-year-old former footballer, who survived the ambush.

Andrea Mantella , a key repentant in the reconstruction of the activities of the 'Ndrangheta in the Vibonese area, speaks of the initiations in prison of several people.

The pentito reports «the episode in which, during a period of detention in Vibo Valentia, the dowry of the “sgarro” was conferred on a certain “Muggeri” (understood Salvatore Muggeri) from Tropea (or, more correctly, a native of Tropea); in fact, in the juncture, Antonio La Rosa (alias "Ciondolino"), present at the ceremony, proposed to include Diego Mancuso in the copy as a sign of respect». According to what was reported in the interrogation, the initiative would have been "reported also to "Addecu" himself, given that - in recalling the event during the joint detention in Viterbo - Mantella had to verify that the interlocutor was already aware of the affair ». Same prison, Viterbo, another initiation rite. "It would have been Diego himself who - in that period - gave a prisoner of Sinopoli a dowry of 'Ndrangheta ". These are Mantella's words on the episode: «I remember that during the common detention in Viterbo we conferred the dowry of the "saint" on a subject from Sinopoli, in prison for murder, whose name I don't remember (perhaps Carmine). This gentleman insistently asked Diego Mancuso to recognize this increase in his dowry, since he had to do a lot of prison. Diego Mancuso took a liking to him and decided to give him the "saint" . In addition to the person concerned, I, Diego Mancuso and a certain Vincenzo Loielo (who also seems to me to have collaborated with the justice) were present at the ceremony, who being "favellato" recited the ritual formulas himself. I also know that before my arrival there in prison, Diego Mancuso had also conferred the dowry of the cheat on a certain Francesco Pesce of Rosarno , as the interested parties themselves (Mancuso and Pesce) told me».

according to police the Farao and Marincola clans would have obtained, with explicit and implicit threats, control of the ports of Cirò Marina and Cariati and controlled, under a monopoly regime, the entire fishing chain. Furthermore, the owners of the Cirò and Cirò Marina fishmongers were forced to buy fish only and exclusively from them and with resale prices decided by the affiliates themselves.
At the request of the victims of thefts or other crimes, according to the allegations, they were interested in providing "justice" by getting the stolen goods back

How come everyone is so quiet about the Ndrangheta’s presence in the United States? I've read on two separate occasions where millions in Ndrangheta assets were seized in Italy and the US, and they've interacted with at least the Colombo, Gambino, and Genovese Families, yet not a single peep from Jerry Capeci. He's still so fixated on boring news about has-beens like Gene Borrello that nobody gives a fuck about. Could it be that law enforcement has ongoing secret investigations and they're just waiting for the right time?

Well if you haven't noticed the Five Families are his focus. He doesn't cover any of the other Families except for DeCavalcante and Philadelphia but it's rare. He has mentioned the Ndrangheta in articles before when they've been linked to a Five Family bust.

A reason why more news articles don't cover the Ndrangheta busts is the same reason other criminal groups don't get news attention it's because no one cares. LCN was massive in American pop culture from Valachi's testimony being live on TV, the Godfather, or John Gotti reveling in the media attention everyone knew what it was. The popularity has died down but there's still a big interest among the American public. But the Ndrangheta isn't LCN and isn't well known so the only time they get media attention is when they're connected to an American Family.

The feds barely have anyone investigating the Five Families so you can assume the Ndrangheta isn't on the top of their list. When we see Ndrangheta members or associates arrested in the US its almost always from a bust linked to one of the Five Families or originated from an investigation in Italy like the recent one in New York.

'Ndrangheta: the boss Giuseppe Nirta, head of the San Luca gang of the same name, died
February 23, 2023
Giuseppe Nirta , aged 83, alias "Versu" , the boss of the 'Ndrangheta died in the prison of Parma, and was considered the head of the gang of the same name from San Luca, federated with the Strangios, called "janchi".
The elderly boss was the father of Giovanni Luca Nirta , the real target of the killers who on Christmas day 2006 carried out the ambush in which Maria Strangio , Nirta's wife and mother of three minor children, died by mistake. A five-year-old nephew of Maria Strangio was also injured in the ambush .
Her death was the trigger for the massacre in Duisburg, Germany, on August 15, 2007, one of the bloodiest episodes in the history of the 'Ndrangheta. Indeed, in the massacreTommaso Venturi , aged 18; Francesco Giorgi , (16), Francesco Pergola and Marco Pergola , (22 and 20); Marco Marmo (25), and Sebastiano Strangio (39). When the two killers who carried out the massacre went into action, the victims had just left the "da Bruno" restaurant, owned by Sebastiano Strangio , where they had dined to celebrate Tommaso Venturi 's 18th birthday .

Nicaso talks about the "cyberbanging" of the 'Ndrangheta. «Seek consensus on social media»
The university professor, a guest of Unical, outlined the historical change of the Calabrian clans. "Essential intelligence to counter them"

"The fourth revolution of mafia organizations" is the title of the lecture that Antonio Nicaso, essayist and university professor among the leading international mafia scholars, held at the Masters in Intelligence of the University of Calabria, directed by Mario Caligiuri, Nicaso has outlined the path of historical change of the mafias, deepening the current ability to relate with professional categories to enter the financial markets, but also exploiting the opportunities offered by social media. He then focused on the narration of the mafias from their origins: highlighting that today we are witnessing an involvement of the mafias in what has been defined as the fourth revolution. Today, the mafias have become a money laundering holding on the financial market, thanks above all to the proceeds of drug trafficking.

Antonio Nicaso
The mafias currently have great interests in every continent, using the dynamics of globalization. For this reason, their contrast requires more and more the use of advanced technologies and outstanding skills of operators in the sector, just as interceptions are irreplaceable. "The fourth revolution - underlined Nicaso - led to the modification of criminal strategies, with the use of cryptophony, dark web markets, online gambling". Even the most traditional of the mafias, the 'Ndrangheta has long been seeking consensus on social networks to attract new blood, but also to enhance the behavior and living standards of those who have enriched themselves with the proceeds of criminal activities. A strategy, common to many other criminal organizations, which in North America has been renamed "cyberbanging".
However, it is wrong to think that the mafias have operated in the shadows in the past. In fact, they also distinguished themselves in their clothing, as the distinguishing marks had always been well known. The mafias create links, based on the commission of the same crimes. This is the case of other subversive organizations including terrorist ones. From the aesthetics of violence to the use of symbolic systems and slang, the communication strategy of the mafias has always been very effective. This shows how necessary the contrast is, for which intelligence plays a very important role. With the extension of the digital space, the mafias are increasingly hybrid, widespread, ramified, dangerous. It is therefore necessary to anticipate its moves, defining the territorial borders canceled by globalization and introducing more incisive laws,
The university professor then highlighted that in the international context, investigations into mafia-type criminal organizations often consist exclusively in the exchange of information and data. It is appropriate to create task forces, such as the one set up by Interpol at the instigation of the Italian state police to hit the mafias even far from their territories of origin, where they often invest the proceeds of drug trafficking. In this regard, he recalled that Italy was a leader in the fight against the mafias in Europe and in the world. And he called for a greater involvement of other countries in the fight against the mafia, but above all against mafia capital. ( Italpress )

There is the 'Ndrangheta in Verona, sentences of 150 years in the trial of the Giardino clan
A mafia-type organization linked to the ' Ndrangheta also operated in the province of Verona . The sentence issued in recent days by the Court of Verona is one of the many "historical" pieces of a mosaic that now permeates the whole of the North. There were twenty defendants accused of having operated illegally, in various capacities, in favor of the so-called Giardino clan, a piece of Calabrian organized crime transplanted in Veneto. The prosecutors of the Venice DDA have contested, in addition to the mafia-type criminal association, also the crimes of extortion, fraud, money laundering, corruption, bid rigging, false invoices, drug trafficking. The prosecution system was largely confirmed: a total of almost 300 years in prison had been requested. The picture held up: 150 years of imprisonment inflicted, six acquittals,

The heaviest penalty, 30 years' imprisonment, was imposed on 54-year-old Antonio Giardino , known as "il Grande", considered the undisputed leader of the "locale" Scala. Thirty years in prison also for his brother Alfredo Giardino ; 23 years for Michele Pugliese (considered by the investigators a sort of deputy to the boss). Instead, the wife of Antonio Giardino, Antonella Bova, was acquitted, owner of Giardino Costruzioni, for which 26 years' imprisonment had been invoked as, according to the public prosecution, it would have been used by the spouse to make his own illegal operations legal.

How come we can't map out Cosa Nostra, Ndrangheta, and Camorra out the way we do with the American Mafia? Like name off all the different clans and point out the major players, like who's the boss, underboss, soldiers in each clan. I'd love to see that.
