I know that's why there's debate about him ruling the Sicilian mafia. He was Capoprovincia of trapani after Vincenzo virga was arrested in 2002. Some reports say he had influence in Palermo and Agrigento but the boss of bosses thing is more of a myth of the media

The capo di tutti capi is a designation for the chairman of a mafia commission. Usually this is also the head of the most powerful mafia family that falls under the committee.

i wonder the role of Giovanni Motisi, in the wiretaps the acting boss Calvaruso said he had the last word
Wait, Motisi is alive? I am like 90% sure he is dead , there is literally no info on him , with MMD there were a lot of information , while Motisi literally leaves no trace anywhere.

He def is a ghost. I think a pentito recently linked him to Giuseppe Auteri, also a fugitive for a year or so. One of his most trusted men was Giuseppe Calvaruso , Pagliarelli's current regent and internationally connected for example Brazil and Singapore. The came very close in 2007, the carabinieri raided a villa in Casteldaccia and discovered that Motisi had celebrated his daughter's birthday there. They also found photographs. It was one of the fugitive's hideouts, together with an apartment in via Enrico Toti, not far from the University of Palermo. Motisi stayed there without attracting attention. The shutters have never been raised even a millimeter. Here too the military arrived too late. The investigations for the arrest always remain open and if he indeed died we would heard about it.

Matteo Messina Denaro was allegedly also working on an action plan. Sicilian and Calabrian pentiti have begun to reveal the secrets of the pancriminal system desired by the leaders of the two mafias, on which the Prosecutors of Caltanissetta, Palermo and Reggio Calabria have been investigating for years. It even had/has a name "Cosa Unica".

Settimio Mineo tried to form a new Commission but was arrested before can do it.
They’ve tried to constitute the Cupola four times, and each time the carabinieri finds out. The last known one was in 2018, but authorities intercepted the provincial bosses’ telecommunications, and suspected a gathering when their phones simultaneously went offline for several hours. Breaking up the Cupola, the carabinieri arrested 46 attendees, including the newly elected would-be overboss, the 80-year-old Settimo Mineo.

I think all of that talk about the police preventing another Cupola is just for headlines. It sounds good for crime-fighting purposes, but in reality there's really not much they can do to prevent them from having some sort of Commission to oversee important matters.

The Inzerillo's have become a force again in recent years. Could they return to their glory days idk.
the son of Stefano Bontade (Francesco Paolo) was filmed by the police in various meetings with mafia figures, he was sentenced to 11 years for international drug trafficking and released in 2015

Interesting the aristocratic mafia class in Palermo could make a comeback.
Relatives of Rosario Riccobono have also popped up recently.
Riccobono and eight of his men vanished without trace at the end of November 1982. The men were separated off from each other at a dinner at Michele Greco’s estate and strangled one by one by their table companions.[5] Riccobono was just taking his after-dinner nap. Three of his associates were gunned down a few days later and his brother, Vito Riccobono, was found decapitated in his car. Within a few days Riccobono’s entourage was eliminated.[4] One of the few who survived was Riccobono’s erstwhile driver Salvatore Lo Piccolo, who rose to power twenty years later.[6]

Very interesting news in court today, but it does make sense.
“Immediately after the death of Totò Riina – said Giuseppe Lombardo – the command of Cosa nostra was taken by Leoluca Bagarella, who continued in the same direction imposed at the time by his brother-in-law.”

So Cosa Nostra is still led by Corleone.

i think Lombardo meant "immediately after the arrest of Totò Riina" Bagarella took over the command in the 1993-1995 period
