Rivers of drugs between Calabria and Sicily, so the ‘Ndrangheta supplied the Messinese with cocaine: 16 arrests

The role of the ‘Ndrangheta
The dangerousness of the investigated criminal association and its high criminal caliber was demonstrated by the fact that it procured the drug – to be placed in the Messina square – from a leading exponent of the Nirta family, at the top of the Calabrian ‘Ndrangheta. Specifically, one of the arrested is a son of Giuseppe Nirta, 82 years old, prisoner for life in prison for the events relating to the San Luca feud, as well as the brother of Sebastiano Nirta, 51, and Francesco Nirta, 48, both imprisoned for life imprisonment for their involvement in the Duisburg massacre, which took place in Germany on August 15, 2007 in 6 people of Calabrian origin were killed, some of whom were believed to be members of the rival Pelle – Vottari clan. The supplier, in turn, made use of an articulated one network of couriers, all resident in the province of Vibo Valentia some of which are uncensored, which dealt with the delivery of the drug “at home” to the city of Messina.

I even read that some clans from Messina report to 'Ndrangheta.

'Ndrangheta, the fugitive boss Gallace arrested in Nettuno: he was hiding in a closet

A boss never strays too far from his home. The hunters of fugitives know this and the confirmation comes from the Carabinieri del Ros, who arrested Antonio Gallace in Nettuno . In the environment nicknamed Michael Jackson.

The 59-year-old went into hiding for nearly two years and was captured last night at his home in the Roman coast town, where he was found hiding in a closet. The arrested is one of the exponents of the homonymous mafia family originally from Guardavalle, in the province of Catanzaro, which has taken root between Anzio and Nettuno.

The Gallaces are at the center of the "Appia" investigation, the first on the affairs of the mafias on the coast south of Rome and mainly on drug trafficking, which in 2005 led to the dissolution of the Municipality of Nettuno as a mafia, at the time administered by a council of center right. Precisely for that process, which dragged itself along in the courtrooms, Antonio Gallace was definitively sentenced to serve almost 21 years in prison.

With precision 20 years, 11 months and 10 days of imprisonment for the crimes of mafia association, drug trafficking association and more. The prison order was issued by the Rome Attorney General's Office, he lost track of him and was declared a fugitive on November 25, 2020.

In the meantime, the affairs of the Gallace have continued over the years. According to the District Anti-Mafia Directorate of Rome, which in February carried out 65 arrests as part of the "Tritone" investigation, they would be among the families who, always between Anzio and Nettuno, would have even set up a local 'Ndrangheta, doing rich business with the drugs and infiltrating public administrations, from which they received contracts in exchange for votes for a long list of center-right candidates.

‘Ndrangheta in large-scale distribution: 12 arrests, Dia operation also in Abruzzo
LOCAL NEWSTuesday 26th July 2022 03:15 AM

REGGIO CALABRIA – Twelve people, including alleged affiliates of the ‘Ndrangheta and colluding entrepreneurs, were arrested in Reggio Calabria during an operation conducted by Dia and the Guardia di Finanza on directives of the district anti-mafia Directorate, directed by Giovanni Bombardieri.
The operation, called “Planning“, Made it possible to defeat a criminal association that allegedly saw entrepreneurs and families of the ‘Ndrangheta allies aimed at infiltrating some gangs in the construction sector and in large-scale food distribution. Arrests and searches, as part of the operation, also in Lombardy, Abruzzo and Lazio.
According to what emerged from the investigations, the infiltration of the gangs in the construction sector and in the large food distribution would have occurred through the covert participation of their exponents in the economic initiatives managed and organized through companies fictitiously registered to third parties, but also through the assignment of services and supplies to entrepreneurs who are members of the criminal association.
Those arrested are accused, for various reasons, of mafia association and external involvement in the same crime, as well as of criminal association, use of money of illicit origin, self-laundering and fraudulent transfer of values, all crimes aggravated by mafia methods.
At the center of the investigation is the De Stefano ‘ndrangheta clan and its economic relations and joint interests with some entrepreneurs from Reggio Calabria. Eight of the 12 people involved in the operation ended up in prison, while the remaining four were placed under house arrest.

‘ndrangheta and Cosa Nostra’ allies’
LOCAL NEWS about 10 hours ago REPORT
Cosa Nostra and ‘Ndrangheta allies for drug trafficking and extortion for debt collection with violence and threats, in Milan and in the Balearic Islands. And a Milanese lawyer who, boasting a credit of 40 thousand euros from an entrepreneur, turned to an exponent of the Fontana mafia family, who involved two other criminals: one of the Mancuso clan ‘Ndranghetista and one affiliated to the Sacra Corona Unita.

The latter, despite being in prison, sent Whatsapp messages to the entrepreneur threatening him and showing photographs of war weapons. The district anti-mafia management of Milan has decided to stop this criminal design by prescribing imprisonment for three of them and the obligation to sign for the fourth, thus also protecting the entrepreneur’s safety.

This was reported by a note from the Milan prosecutor’s office. The operation, which was attended by carabinieri, police and mobile teams from various parts of Italy, was conducted as part of the ‘Medoro’ investigation, launched in the spring of 2018, which involves 27 suspects in Milan, Monza, Reggio Calabria and Vibo Valentia, to which on Thursday 28 July the carabinieri of the Ros and of the various provincial commands are notifying the notice of conclusion of the investigations.

Drugs and extortion
At the ‘center’ of the investigation a group of people living in the Milanese area, connected with the Mancuso clan of Limbadi (Vibo Valentia), accused of having trafficked drugs for almost 100 kilograms (72 of hashish, 18 of marijuana and the rest of cocaine ), also planning the import into Italy of almost 2 tons of hashish, for a total turnover of hundreds of thousands of euros. The suspects also placed themselves at the ‘service’ of debt collection with extortion methods ranging from threats to actual violence. A ‘service’ also exported to the Balearic Islands, where the suspects were entering the security sector for night clubs.

Holland: a narco-colony of the 'Ndrangheta north of Europe
Luca Grossi 04 August 2022
Giuseppe Lombardo: " The mafias take their money where they can see it yield satisfactorily "
Europe is literally submerged by cocaine and the pockets of the mafias ('Ndrangheta in primis) continue to swell with huge capital.
It is illusory to think that there are still 'happy islands' where the white powder has not yet arrived and with it the influences of the mafia organizations and South American drug traffickers. It is a known fact that drugs mostly travel by sea. Passing through the Atlantic and the North Sea, large merchant ships (with their hidden drug cargoes) dock in the ports of Antwerp (Belgium), Valencia (Spain) and Rotterdam (Holland). In particular, in the country of poppies, the 'Ndrangheta has found more than just a' safe haven '. In 2021, Dia (in the report of the first semester) had indicated that the 'Ndrangheta is the "most ramified criminal organization in the area and with the greatest presence of affiliates" and dedicated "
Significant 'help' to the mafias comes from the lack of specific anti- mafia rules , from a very favorable tax regime, a solid economy and the ability to easily move money flows to tax havens connected to the Netherlands. " The mafias take their money where they can see it yield satisfactorily, " the prosecutor Giuseppe Lombardo of the Reggio Calabria DDA explained to Irpi . " The investments they continue to make in Italy mostly serve to maintain the loyalty of the people of their 'fiefdom' ".
the other part is in the hands of indigenous organizations that reinvest the capital accumulated locally. In both cases, the structures of these groups are consolidating on the model of the Calabrian mafia: interpersonal relationships are hierarchical and have a permanent and secret character; the penalties for misconduct are violent and merciless; the activities are managed with great ruthlessness; with corruption, referents are sought among politicians, officials, administrators; profits are invested in legal companies or in the purchase of real estate with the help of compliant banks; expert consultants in financial, fiscal and legal matters are used. Furthermore, Dutch criminals take full advantage of the particular conditions offered by a well-developed and relatively rich welfare state, with a complex tax system and welfare system. This is a fertile ground for penetration, through fraud and corruption, into procurement systems, supply systems, in general in the provision of public services; or for the evasion of taxes, customs and excise duties. This situation was already cause for alarm in 1991, when the Central Police Commission for Investigations commissioned an inventory of organized crime groups in the Netherlands. At that time, adequate measures had not been taken and the situation today has worsened more than ever. provision of public services; or for the evasion of taxes, customs and excise duties.

The Dutch mafia
The Mocro-maffia is a new type of mafia-like crime emerging not only in the Netherlands but in all parts of Europe. Its roots lie in the Maghrebian community, hence the name, but its affiliates are mostly born and raised in Europe, from the Netherlands to Belgium, passing through Spain.
Unfortunately, as in many other cases, it has long been considered a sort of B-level criminal group mainly devoted to drug dealing but which over time has managed to establish itself as one of the most powerful European drug cartels, strong especially for its links with the ports to which ships loaded with cocaine arrive, such as those of Rotterdam and Antwerp. Not surprisingly, the number two of the organization, Said Razzouki, was arrested in Colombia, where he fled thanks to the support of the Sinaloa Cartel and the Gulf Clan. Mafia leader Ridouan Taghi , on the other hand, was stopped by the police while he was in Dubai. Their arrests have certainly not stopped the criminal activities of this emerging mafia which is continuing to collaborate with other criminal factions such as the 'Ndrangheta, the Albanian and Nigerian mafia.

After careful investigations, the Special Operational Group of the Carabinieri managed to vanquish the business of the 'ndrina Nirta di San Luca in Valle d'Aosta where it had managed to sneak into the fabric of entrepreneurship in order to build a solid base for traffic of narcotic and psychotropic substances between Italy and Spain.

The boss of the 'Ndrangheta Bruno Nirta, known as “the Beast”, was arrested thanks to the help of the special unit “Cacciatori di Calabria” because of his stout size, his cruelty and his quick manner; the heir of the clan of San Luca "Nirta - Scalzone ”as well as the brother of Giuseppe Nirta. The "Nirta - Scalzone" family of San Luca (RC) had already been under the crosshairs of the ROS and the Carabinieri Group of Aosta for some time. country to relocate and better monetize their shady deals.

160 mn seized from 'Ndrangheta-linked businessman
Companies, real estate, motor vehicles taken from Mob builder

(ANSA) - ROME, AUG 11 - Italian police on Thursday seized 160 million euros in assets from an 'Ndrangheta-linked businessman in Reggio Calabria.
They said the man, Carmelo Ficara, had close ties to the Calabrian mafia.
From the mid 80s to 2017, they said, he relied on these links to build a construction empire in and around the Calabrian capital.
Among the assets seized were seven companies active in the building and real estate sector, 99 pieces of property and 16 motor vehicles.
Ficara was sentenced to 12 years in jail in December for external association with the Calabrian Mob.
'Ndrangheta has spread from its Calabrian heartlands to the rest of Italy, Europe and around the world, and is considered Italy's richest and most powerful mafia due to its control of the European cocaine trade from South America.
'Ndrangheta (from a Greek word meaning 'heroism' or 'virtue') once lived in the twin shadow of Cosa Nostra in Sicily and the Camorra in Naples.
While those two syndicates, notably the Sicilians, were feeding off the transatlantic heroin trade through operations like the infamous 'French connection', 'Ndrangheta was only just emerging from its traditional stock-in-trade of kidnappings in the Calabrian highlands.
It has since become a highly sophisticated global network with a chokehold on the European cocaine trade and control over swathes of its home turf where police fear to tread, Italian officials say.
As well as being the richest, 'Ndrangheta is also regarded as the most impenetrable of Italy's mafias, with its close-knit family-based organisation outdoing the Sicilian mafia in its ability to defeat police efforts to turn members into State witnesses.
The European law enforcement agency Europol has identified 'Ndrangheta as one of the "most threatening" organized crime groups on the global level, due to its "enormous financial might" and "immense corruptive power," with a presence in Germany, Spain, the Netherlands, France, Belgium, Switzerland, Canada, USA, Colombia and Australia, where 'Ndrangheta turf wars have gained headlines.
In Europe, 'Ndrangheta really only came into the public eye in 2007, when six clan members were gunned down on the midsummer Ferragosto holiday in the German city of Duisburg in a feud that began as a wedding spat in a Calabrian town, San Luca, in 1991. (ANSA).

'Ndrangheta in Reggio, the rise of the gypsies in the mafia hierarchy: army of 500 men
by Francesco Tiziano - August 14, 2022

The rise of the gypsies in the mafia hierarchy . No one in the Arghillà stronghold can now boast the rank or blazon of the chief (and not even of the lieutenant), but also from the accusations of the "Epicenter" trial , the increasingly consolidated data emerges that nomads are gaining more and more space in the relationships and dynamics of 'Ndrangheta. Among the topics addressed in the long testimony given in the Collegial Court in the "Epicentro" trial, the collaborator of justice Vincenzo "Enzo" Cristiano has reconstructed the weight of the community starting from his personal relationships: "I met in Cocò at a friend's house because of a misunderstanding that money had to be returned to people from Archi, he was in the company of a boy from Archi, whose surname escapes me now, but he was also someone who also frequented Paolo You sketch, and at that moment Cocò and I started talking, let's say, about 'Ndrangheta, and Cocò said to me: "My friend, for now there is disgust around there in Catona", because Gianni was not there Rugolino, they were all inside, it was, I think, the Meta operation ».

The gypsies were fierce and above all numerous: «He told me:“ I have five hundred baptized men of 'Ndrangheta, I make them active when Giovanni Rugolino comes out, first nothing, I retired in good order ”»
The Public Prosecutor's clarification is inevitable: "And first of all, let's go in order: Who is Cocò?". Cristiano: « Cocò is called Cosimo Morelli. I met him a few months before, like that, but only a fleeting introduction, then we were at a friend's house and he was ... well, now I remember the surname, with Scarpelli di Archi, who had come to take 'st' embassy of this man who owed him money, and this friend of mine, the landlord, had been arrested with Morelli's brother, I think his name is Luigi, and there ... on purpose, let's say, we were ... he understood that we were all friends and he let himself go to this talk, which had five hundred men, all, let's say, baptized with the 'Ndrangheta, with Rugolino's permission ».

We need a damn proper English-to-Italian translator, hard to understand that slop. Jerry Capeci should move to Italy, lots of mob action over there.

An aggression made, weapons in hand, of slaps, insults, threats and shots. This is the modus operandi of the 'Ndrangheta "club" which operated in Rome and was dismantled last May by the prosecutors of the DDA with 43 precautionary measures in the Propaggine operation. In an exclusive video broadcast by Tgr Lazio , the phases of the attack that took place in a workshop in Montecompatri, a center in the province of Rome.

Brazilian federal police arrested last week in Goiana an Italian identified as Joseph Bruzzese, considered an important member of the 'Ndrangheta . According to G1, the news portal of the newspaper O Globo, Bruzzese lived in a luxurious residence and on behalf of the 'Ndrangheta coordinated the dispatch of drugs, in particular cocaine, to Europe through the ports of the State of Espirito Santo.
Currently, the federal police indicated, the Italian citizen is in prison waiting to be made available to Brazilian justice.

Italian police arrest 200 members of 'ndrangheta mafia group
author avatar
By MAARTEN VAN AALDEREN

abroad _

ROME - With a massive wave of arrests of more than 200 people, the Italian police dealt a major blow to the 'ndrangheta, the infamous mafia from the southern Italian region of Calabria.

Among the detainees are lawyer Marcello Manna, mayor of the municipality of Rende in the province of Cosenza, along with two aldermen. Manna was also president of the National Association of Italian Municipalities ANCI in Calabria. He is currently under house arrest.

Corruption
The exact allegations against him have not yet been made public, but it is certain that according to justice he must be associated with the 'ndrangheta. He had already been investigated for corruption. Marcello Manna was elected mayor in 2019, receiving over 57% of the vote. At the time, he was supported by six election lists. Among the other detainees are, in addition to exponents of the 'ndrangheta, local administrators and entrepreneurs.

The police have seized goods and real estate worth 72 million euros, including an ultralight aircraft, a sailing yacht, a water scooter, 70 cars, 7 motorcycles, dozens of illegal businesses, several land and buildings. Several Italian police forces (Polizia, Carabinieri and Guardia di Finanza) were involved in the arrests. The arrests have taken place across the country. Also in cities like Milan, Turin and Parma. Justice has for many years stated that infiltration of the 'ndrangheta also takes place in northern Italian cities.

Extortion

33 nabbed in money laundering probe based in northern city

(ANSA) - ROME, SEP 5 - An Italian tax clerk was among 33 people arrested in a Bergamo-based sweep against the Calabria-based 'Ndrangheta mafia on Monday.
The functionary of the Internal Revenue Agency is accused of being complicit in a massive money laundering operation, police said.
Persons believed to be close to 'Ndrangheta are accused of issuing fake invoices, usury and other financial crimes.
The crimes were allegedly committed in order to launder profits from drugs and other activities by a Calabrian mafia clan, the Arenas, at Isola di Capo Rizzuto in Calabria.
The false invoices alone amounted to over 20 million euros, police said.
The 33 have been placed under arrest in jail or at home.
Police carried out searches and raids in 12 Italian provinces in Lombardy, Veneto, Piedmont, Umbria, Sardinia, Basilicata and Calabria. (ANSA).

Blitz of the Fiamme Gialle in Milan against the 'Ndrangheta: 13 arrests.
Thirteen people were arrested during a blitz by the Fiamme Gialle in Milan against the 'Ndrangheta, including former boxer Franco Terlizzi.
In the morning of Tuesday 6 September by the Guardia di Finanza the operation that routed the clan of the 'Ndrangheta headed by Davide Flachi , son of the historic boss of Comasina in Milan Giuseppe “Pepè” Flachi .
During the investigation, the police were able to precisely define the drug routes - in particular cocaine, hashish and marijuana - while the arrests were carried out not only in Lombardy but also in the territory of the Swiss Confederation . Extortion attacks perpetrated against defaulting customers and arms trafficking , including war weapons, were also reconstructed, such as Kalashnikov machine guns that were supplied by Calabrian and Balkan cells in business with the 'Ndrangheta gang discovered in Milan.

Investigators, again, found evidence of the involvement of the former boxer and PR of the well-known Hollywood nightclub, Franco Terlizzi, in the circle linked to the underworld. Terlizzi has become a character known to the public when he participated in L'Isola dei Famosi in recent years. As far as we know, it seems that the former castaway is one of the figureheads of Davide Flachi.

'Ndrangheta and online betting, assets confiscated from an entrepreneur
The criminal organization was active in "covering" the distribution points on the territory and ready to guarantee, with intimidation, the recovery of gaming credits

Assets for a total estimated value of approximately 1.8 million euros were confiscated by the military of the Provincial Command of the Guardia di Finanza of Reggio Calabria and by personnel of the Scico, with the coordination of the Dda Reggio, from a Roman entrepreneur operating in the sector. of online games and betting .

The criminal figure of the recipient of the measure had emerged as part of the "Galaxy" operation and had revealed a sophisticated and highly profitable criminal system, aimed at the illegal collection of online bets through important foreign bookmakers based in Austria and Malta which they would have operated in relationship with the 'Ndrangheta.

The criminal organization would have practically offered a sort of "environmental protection" to the gaming company, allowing the expansion on the territory of distribution points and guaranteeing, with intimidation, the recovery of gaming credits; on the other, the 'Ndrangheta would have obtained a monetary counterpart , infiltrating companies, enjoying a privileged channel for cleaning up dirty money, making money on profits and inserting its representatives in the territorial commercial network.

The entrepreneur, for whom a request for indictment was made also for the crime of conspiracy aggravated by the mafia method, would be among the creators of the illicit system.

The investigations of the financiers made it possible to reconstruct the asset acquisitions made from the year 2000 to 2020 and to detect the assets directly and indirectly in the availability of the entrepreneur , whose value would have been disproportionate to his earning capacity.

Ambush in the Vibonese area. A 30-year-old man, Alessandro Morfei, (already known to the police), was shot several times while on board his tractor in the municipality of Dinami. He then died in the hospital of Vibo Valentia, where he had been transported and where the doctors immediately noted the seriousness of the clinical picture. The murder happened along the road that leads to the village of Serre Vibonesi.

There is a new repentant in the 'Ndrangheta clans of Scilla, in the Reggio area. This is Carmelo Cimarosa, 36, the first declarations of which have already been filed by the Dda of Reggio Calabria in the Lampetra trial against a group of alleged affiliates of the same clans. The same criminal groups were at the center of the New Line investigation conducted by the Dda Reggio itself and which last Thursday led to the arrest of 22 people linked, in various ways, according to the accusation, to the Nasone-Gaietti clan. Among them the municipal councilor Girolamo Paladino, placed under house arrest.

Cimarosa's collaboration with justice also produced its effects in the Nuova linea investigation itself. The new repentant referred, in particular, to the alleged boss Giuseppe Fulco, arrested in the same operation on 8 September last and indicated by the repentant as "the head of the clan" during the deposition made before the deputy prosecutor of the Reggio Dda Walter Ignazitto .

Killed a few hours before his birthday: Alessandro Morfei would have turned thirty. Five rifle shots, behind and in the chest, while he was driving home on his tractor along a small street in Dinàmi. A mafia-style ambush. Probably done by a professional. The killer was hiding in the bush on the side of the road, he shot and fled without leaving a trace: not even a shotgun cartridge, the carabinieri say.
At the moment, the investigators are not ruling out any leads. But on the murder there is the shadow of organized crime.Alessandro Morfei had small precedents, but his father Pietro in Dinàmi was considered a boss. In July 1998 he was riddled with bullets by a rival commando while he was drinking a coffee in a bar in Monsoreto. The murder of Alessandro would be just the latest settling of scores between criminal families of the Preserre. A long trail of blood that began many years ago.

WOW..

The alleged boss of the 'Ndrangheta Vittorio Raso, 43, considered one of the leaders of the gangs in Piedmont, is considering the possibility of collaborating with the justice system. This is what an article in "La Stampa" reveals. According to reports from the service, Raso's intentions would be examined by the magistrates of the Turin district anti-mafia Directorate: after all, his possible revelations could have considerable repercussions in the reconstruction of international drug trafficking and of the organization chart and business of the 'Ndrangheta gangs also beyond national borders. Raso was arrested last June in Barcelona after a long period of inaction and was extradited to Italy on 11 August.
