According to sources within the investigative system, fear of an attack with a rocket launcher or with automatic firearms on the RTL Boulevard studio on Leidseplein in Amsterdam was the reason that Saturday and Sunday evening's live broadcasts were cancelled.

Recently, the police are said to have intercepted messages from criminals discussing the option of an attack. There would be discontent within the underworld about media attention in which last Tuesday's attack on crime reporter Peter R. de Vries is associated with his assistance to Nabil B., the key witness in the Marengo trial, who has stated incriminating about the crime. of drug trafficking and liquidations suspect Ridouan Taghi.

When asked, the Amsterdam police and the municipality of Amsterdam say they will not comment on the background of the "serious threat" with regard to RTL Boulevard that they reported to RTL on Saturday.

Well i think the media pressure is so high and whole case is getting huge attention , they are going to find them guilty for sure.

Well what u said , corruption must be high in order to have powerful organized crime groups.

Right now his group is THE number one target for law enforcement. Can't imagine something like that not hurting business. If you're a target and you're on the radar 24/7, everyone you do business with automatically becomes a target as well.

The underworld in the Netherlands has always been an unstable place. In for instance the UK and Ireland many of the underworld bosses are able to go "legit" or at least continue to operate from behind bars. In the Netherlands a disproportionate amount of the underworld bosses either get killed or get locked behind bars and lose basically everything.
The organizations in Brabant and Limburg, which mostly concern tight knit families from the traveller areas, seem to have the most longevity. The big city organizations in Amsterdam and Rotterdam on the other hand? Whether it's Moroccans, Surinamese/Antilleans or "old school" Dutch criminals from the city...they usually have a few years on top before they start killing each other or selling each other out.
People tend to focus on the "Mocro Maffia" these days, but when it were just Amsterdam- and Rotterdam-born Dutch guys that ran the show entirely there were also a TON of underworld killings going on. You just heard about it less. There's a reason they called Johnny and Sammy "Spik and Span"; hose two whacked, mutilated and dismembered more people than the entire "Mocro Maffia" combined.

Justice suspect both men were also involved in the double murder in Suriname of Dennis Groenfelt (49) from Utrecht and the 19-year-old Cadischa Prika. Groenfelt was a rival of Ridouan Taghi, he was a kind of bodyguard for Robin van O.

OM demands a life sentence for both.

Authorities should have protected him to some degree there have been talks between them but it was way too dangerous to let him walk around freely without any surveillance. Justice Minister Grapperhaus has now opened an investigation too little too late.

Suspect denies involvement in crime reporter's murder; Court refuses to release him

One of two men suspected in the murder of Peter R. de Vries extensively testified in court on Monday, emphatically stating that he knew nothing about the murder plot. According to Kamil E., he only had to drive someone he did not know from Rotterdam to Amsterdam and back, but he was not aware of the reason for that trip. E. is suspected of driving the getaway car.

The 35-year-old man from Poland is also suspected of conducting preliminary surveillance more than a week before the crime reporter was shot in Amsterdam on July 6. He denies that. According to E., he was home on that day. His lawyer asked the court to release E. from pre-trial detention.

The court rejected that request later on Monday afternoon, and ordered him to remain in custody. The court said it still sees sufficient reason to keep E. In detention at least until the next hearing on December 6.

The suspected shooter, Delano G. from Rotterdam, declined to say anything on Monday. He also invoked his right to remain silent in the past, including during police interrogations. His lawyer did not ask the court to suspend his pre-trial detention.

The police arrested G. and E. shortly after De Vries was gunned down. The two were arrested on the A4 highway, near the Leidschendam exit. E. said that he had no idea why they were arrested. When he was taken into custody, he told the police that the car did not belong to him, the prosecutor said on Monday. Weapons were found in the vehicle. E. said he did not know about them.

The motive for De Vries's murder is not yet known. The authorities consider that it had to do with the crime reporter's role in the extensive Marengo assassinations trial, with main suspect Ridouan Taghi. De Vries acted as advisor and confidant to Nabil B., the key witness in that trial.

Since it was announced in early 2018 that B. had turned witness, his innocent brother Reduan and his lawyer Derk Wiersum were murdered.

Royce de Vries warned of serious threat
3 hours 53 minutes ago
Edited: 3 hours 21 minutes ago

The police have received information that the life of Royce de Vries may be in serious danger. That message was sent to the son of Peter R. de Vries from the police. The reason could be that he represented the sisters of crown witness Nabil B. as a civil lawyer, even though he immediately stopped doing so after the attack on his father.

The detectives are investigating a tip that came in, which stated that unknown people would like to kill Royce de Vries. The son of the deceased crime reporter confirms this to RTL Boulevard after reporting by Het Parool.

"The only reason I can think of is that as a lawyer I represented the innocent sisters of Nabil B. in a civil matter against the State. I stopped doing that when my father was shot," Royce told Het Parool and this website.

"I did it anonymously for security reasons, so anonymously that even other officemates knew nothing about it, but the investigative services were so careless as to let it leak out, after which it was also reported in the media."

"A strong case" is how the Public Prosecution Service (OM) describes the file surrounding the murder of Peter R. de Vries that will be submitted in its final form to the court in Amsterdam Today and on June 15. The two suspects are the perpetrators of the shocking murder, according to justice. An extensive investigation into the clients is still ongoing.

Prosecutor demands life sentences against men suspected of killing journalist Peter R. de Vries

Prosecutors recommended that the two men suspected of murdering Peter R. de Vries be sentenced to life behind bars during their trial on Tuesday. Both suspects "have forfeited their right to freedom", according to the Public Prosecution Service (OM).

The OM believes that 22-year-old Delano G. was the gunman, and co-defendant Kamil E. drove G. to and from Amsterdam. Kamil E. Is also believed to have carried out several preliminary surveillance operations before the shooting. "Both G. and E. were fully aware of the assignment that had to be carried out," the prosecutor said in an Amsterdam courtroom on Tuesday.

De Vries was shot on July 6 of last year in the heart of Amsterdam. The crime reporter was walking from the RTL Boulevard studio on Leidseplein, where he had just finished an on-camera appearance, to his car in a parking garage in Lange Leidsedwarsstraat when he was shot at close range. He was hit in the head, and succumbed to his injuries nine days later.

Less than an hour after the attack, the police stopped the two suspects at an exit on the A4. Evidence found in the car included the weapon used in the attack, and an encrypted telephone which the suspects are accused of using to communicate with the person who ordered the murder.

A motive for the murder is unknown, but it is suspected that it has to do with the role De Vries held as a confidential adviser to Nabil B., the prosecution’s key witness in the extensive Marengo process. "It looks that way," the prosecutor said. He spoke of "a particularly shocking attack" on "a third person associated with the crown witness". In 2018, Nabil B.’s brother was shot dead. A year later, gunmen killed his lawyer, Derk Wiersum.

"Society is facing a new reality with feelings of fear and terror," the officer said of the three murders. By demanding a life sentence, he wants to send "a clear and crystal-clear signal.”

The Marengo process is the assigned name for the trial involving gang leader Ridouan Taghi, his top lieutenant, and several others. They stand accused of carrying out multiple assassinations, and either attempting or plotting several others.

The OM said the murder of De Vries demands a stricter punishment as it was an aggravated homicide consisting of the contract killing of "a completely innocent citizen.” The suspects left many questions unanswered by invoking their right to remain silent, or speaking to a limited extent. When they spoke, the prosecution accused them of lying.

Finally, the Public Prosecution Service considered the enormous shock to society due to the actions they accuse the defendants of undertaking. "A famous and much-loved crime reporter with a very long track record and with an unprecedented determination is no more. His death shocked the whole of the Netherlands, and [the country] wallowed in deep mourning."

The case will continue on June 15, including arguments from the defendants' lawyers. The court expects to issue a verdict on July 14. If either suspect is found guilty, the court will likely announce a sentence at the same time.

Reporting by ANP.

Two more held in Peter R. de Vries murder; Arrests in Spain, Curacao
Authorities arrested two more suspects for involvement in the murder of crime reporter Peter R. de Vries in Amsterdam in July last year, the Public Prosecution Service (OM said on Tuesday. The suspects were arrested in Spain and Curacao on Monday.

Both suspects are Dutch and male, the OM said. The one arrested in Curacao is 27 years old and will be extradited to the Netherlands soon. The one arrested in Spain is 26 years old. The OM requested his extradition. The process will likely take a few weeks.

According to Het Parool, the two new suspects recorded De Vries' shooting and posted it on social media immediately after it happened.

Sources told De Telegraaf that the police and OM believe they are exposing the entire "murder chain" in De Vries's assassinations - from those who committed the murder to those who ordered it.

Judge has reopened the case because of New evidence and a new witness. They also could upgrade it to terrorism with much stiffer sentences.

Explosive statement by new witness: 'Peter R. de Vries was the chief's enemy'

Witness 5089, as he was called during the interrogations, turned himself in to the police in October last year and explained in detail the motive for the crime reporter’s murder. “The reason for this was that he was working with a key witness,” Witness 5089 said. “Because he, the journalist, helped the key witness in the case against this Moroccan.”

“shot a journalist”
The anonymous witness says it is based on information from a good friend of his, Krystian M. The 27-year-old Pole was arrested last Monday on suspicion of guiding the two men who allegedly carried out the De Vries assassination.

“Krystian M. has been looking for a man for his uncle since April. He calls him his uncle. It’s a Moroccan that Krystian works for. He was looking for someone to shoot a journalist.”

The witness says about the “uncle” that he understood “that it is someone who killed the brother and the lawyer of the key witness”. And further: “I never saw the man. I only heard that his brother took over all his businesses and that he himself is now in prison.”

called Taghi
The interrogators try to find out who exactly is behind it. They ask:

– And you don’t know his name. Did you discover his name on the internet now?

“I’ll put it differently. I’ve never heard of Krystian’s first or last name.”

– Okay, but now do you know which man it is, what name.

“Yeah, Raswan Taghi or something.”

He could be referring to Ridouan Taghi, the main suspect in the Marengo liquidation process. Prosecutors have suspected for a long time that Taghi’s organization ordered the attack on Peter R. de Vries, but has not yet been able to prove this. Ridouan Taghi’s lawyer, Inez Weski, declined to comment.

Witness 5089 says he went to the police because he felt threatened by Krystian M’s group. This group wanted to implicate him in the kidnapping of two children. “Yes, you shouldn’t see that as an invitation, but as an order,” said the witness during the interrogation. By talking to the police, he hopes for protection.

Krystian M.’s attorney, Ronald van der Horst, could not be reached for comment.

With a recent arrest by Polish police there are now 7 suspects in custody. Listening devices placed by police caught a conversation with one of the men suspected of involvement. The bugs, possibly placed in a car, captured a suspect stating that alleged organized crime leader Ridouan Taghi ordered the murder of the investigative journalist.

The court in Amsterdam is adding the cases of three new suspects in the murder of Peter R. de Vries to the much longer current trial against the two suspected executors. The court announced this on Tuesday.

The three new suspects were arrested in July. This concerns two men who would have filmed the attack on De Vries and the man who would have directed the two suspected executors.

The court has come to the conclusion that it is better to place the cases of all suspects in the murder of De Vries with the same three judges.
