The director of the original, Brian De Palma and producer Art Linson are about to start work on a prequel to The Untouchables, The Untouchables: Capone Rising. It's starts production next year.

What does everyone think of this? Will it have the same actors? I don't think it's gonna turn out out good.

At this point De Palma is so desperate to shoot anything that won't flop that he's willing to do anything above animal porn - even unwanted prequels. I'm sure he'll soon sell the rights to an Untouchables remake with a black rapper as Capone and a "strong female character" as Ness, and then probably he will personally direct an "Untouchables versus Scarface" crossover.

The Untouchables was shitty and corny, so this doesn't sound good.

hey, i for one liked the untouchables, it was definatly entertaining. i dont know about a sequel, i mean if you want to tell a story about capone why not just direct a movie just based on his life...why link it to the untouchable movie.

I'm watching it right now on AMC and it's the enhanced version that has all the little tid bits and get this
Someone at Paramount actually suggested that John Candy play Al Capone, I know this isn't that great of a mob movie but think of John Candy walking around that table weilding a bat and talking about Team work ahahahahahah That would have been a sight to see

I rank "The Untouchables" as one of the crowning moments in 1980's cinema. Cliched as it may seem, it's production value along with Mamet's simplistic, gritty script and the tour de force that all the actors provide transend the simplicy of the concept and make it an peratic statement about good v.s evil.

Can this film be made succesfully? If not made as a mere prequel and allowed to be it's own film, I feel this project could be extremley succesful.

I can't believe some of you guys didn't like The Untouchables. Kevin Coster, Sean Connery, Robert de Niro and Andy Garca. Beautiful true story and good plot..

Best movie concerning Al Capone imo.

I love it, but yeah, it's inaccurate as hell. I'm sure the prequel will be like the new Carlito's Way: Rise To Power. None of the same actors, and corny.

It's a film, not a historical account of the opperations of Ness. Of course it's going to have many faults, but can you really allow it to hurt your opinion of it?

I enjoyed The Untouchables, it was a classic. However, it was a single classic. It should not be sequeled, or prequeled. The same applies to Carlito's Way.

I liked The Untouchables alot. I'm a fan of Al"Scarface"Capone, so if they're going to make a movie about him, then I'll definitely give it a chance. I'm sure it won't be too bad, even though the movies aren't like what they used to be. We haven't had a Mafia/Gangster movie in a while, so I'm looking forward to seeing it.

Of course Carlito's Way had something to build upon and to live up to. Too bad it was excecuted badly with a piss poor cast, save for maybe P Diddy of all the people.

Here, it's going to be an original script with the same producer/director team...

Here we have a beter chance for a film of quality.

Wow, quite a wide variety of opinion on the Untouchables. It was on this past weekend on AMC. I watched some of it. Connery was great. Costner is so stiff. Being opposite Connery was a good contrast.

Prequel??? nah. Just make a different movie. Don't try to ride the coattails.

MaryCas, that what I want.

This prequel has enough to stand on and can be it's own film, not the build up to "The Untouchables".

I heard that Elliot Ness won't be casted, and will feature Al Capone still suffering trouble from a Untouchables crew.

Suffering? I thought this movie was supposed to be about the *rise* of Capone.

I agree - why can't they make it as a movie in it's own right?

yeah, not suffering. He'll though have to sturggle to gain control of the city from law enforcement.

Umm, yeah DUH Ness won't be casted. This is about Capone's rise, not fall. That was The Untouchables.

it would be a prequel about capone not on the untouchables yes the untouchables had capone in it but it was about the men who pinched him for tax evasion because they could not get any othe rcharges on him but why call it a untouchables prequel and capone rising sounds like a chessy scfi flick or something but i think it will be good just not the title and being a "untouchables prequel"
