I've always wondered, since I watched GoodFellas for the first time, did Jimmy Conway plan to have Karen Hill murdered when he told her to enter the building to get free dresses? If so, why did he plan on having Karen Hill murdered? It was Henry Hill that was causing trouble for Paulie Cicero's Regime.

Almost certainly he didn't plan to kill Karen. Why would he? If he did, Henry'd certainly turn rat, which was what Jimmy was worried about at that point (and as it turned out, Henry turned rat anyway). I think the purpose of that scene was to underscore that Karen had become paranoid as a result of Henry's arrest and all that coke.

So Jimmy Conway did want to give Karen Hill free dresses? That was generous of him.

I too assumed he was going to have karen killed, but for the reasons Turnbull mentioned, it wouldn't make sense, which is why this always confused me.
The look Jimmy gives the camera when Karen flees would also hint that she was to have been murdered, but she didn't fall into the trap.
If he was to have her killed, then why were those two burly guys in plain view? Wouldn't they be hiding somewhere, awaiting her arrival.

I always assumed that Jimmy did plan to murder Karen there, and then get Henry later. I know Jimmy had planned to send Henry down to Florida on the hit and kill him there, but I'm not sure how close togethor those two events were.

What I'm trying to say is if Jimmy did have Karen killed there, was he still planning to wait to get Henry down to Florida to kill him.

The two guys awaiting her arrival you can hear them quickly say shh.. here she comes or something like that. I felt Jimmy wanted her whacked or maybe kidnap her into luring Henry to turn himself in and then have them both killed. This makes me want to watch the commentary for that scene on the DVD.

Ever do that? Id be interested to know, I dont own the new DVD.
