Since seeing Casino, ive often wondered if the 'back home' Nicky Santoro and Ace refer to is New York or Chicago? Or is it somewhere completely different?

i always thought they referred to kansas as a far away place in the midwest, so im guessing new york or chicago

The Chicago mob oversaw the general, overall interest in the hotel depicted in "Casino." But the Kansas City mob actually did the skimming and payoffs. Spilotro was Chicago's guy on the scene, looking after their interests.
