I was watching a Bronx Tale yesterday and I thought the question that C asked Sonny would be a good topic for the forum. The question was would you rather be loved or feared?

I have to say that I would rather be loved because you would never be alone in the world. Sonny could never trust anyone and people never cared for him. It would be better to go through life with someone than to go it alone.

I would rather be loved of course. [who would rather be feared?]

First off, JGeoff, please move this to General Discussion in order for more people to see it.

Secondly, loved, for me. If you're not feared means you are an underdog. Being an underdog means you have nothing to lose. A perfect situation for me.

Loved, definately. Sonny says fear last longer than love, or something to that extent. I think love last the same as fear. That is if someone really loves you.

Here's a good way to look at it, would someone who fears you take a bullet for you?

"Loved" builds loyalty. "Fear" merely makes people do the minimum to accommodate you and then get out of your way as much as possible. And, one day, somebody'll come along who isn't afraid, and kill you.

Good point Don V. Somebody who fears you would probably never take a bullet for you.

No question about it, LOVE. If you really care for someone you will do what you can for them and look out for their best interests. If you fear someone, you won't want to be around them and it makes it difficult to care for them and their well being. IMHO

When you think about it, alot of the time you don't have the option to be loved or feared. Respect is all I ask for.
