There are many murders in the movie. Tell me which one is your favourite.

I voted Don Fanucci's, but it's quite hard a choice. I think I should mention Apollonia's and Fredo's as well. And Karthoum's as the most impressive (the first time I watched GF I was very young and it really scared me).

My vote went to Don Ciccio. Its the most satisfying murder for me because of the revenge factor. Vito often said that revenge was a dish best served cold. Here, some 25 years later, Vito gets his revenge (for the killing of his family).

It was a tie between ciccio and moe green for me. I like the way the broken glass in the spectacles get painted with blood.
Other than the above I think Mary's death was also satisfying in a strange way, sofia would not have the opportunity to remain till the very last scene. Actually I would have preferred this happen much earlier grin

You know, putting aside how many times I've seen these movies, I forgot just how many "good" murders there were.

I still remember my "first" impressions; the shock of the horse's head in Woltz bed eek The tension and buildup before Michael kills Sollozo/McCluskey; Sonny's murder on the causeway was so gruesome for it's time. Yet, I went with Fanucci's murder. I just liked the way Vito pulled it off, calmly and quietly, with the festival music in the background as he disposes of the gun. smile

Yet, I agree with SC on Don Cicci's murder too. So quick and so cold. As a part of the audience viewing, you can't help but feel no sympathy for Cicci, and as a matter of fact say, "good" to yourself. Such a vicious way to kill someone.

Favorite Murder - The way the band murdered Frankie's request for the Tarantella (Pop Goes the Weasel rolleyes ).

Seriously folks, "favorite" murder? Kind of a sadistic choice of words. The entire scene in Louis Restaurant is great (watched it last night again); the sounds, the set up, the tension. But for revenge - Don Cicci. Perfect.

Don Lucchesi and his glasses. That was very creative on Calo's part.

Baptism sequence. Undoubtedly. As a whole. As the revenge. As ultimate system of murders.

I voted for Vito's mother. I remember the first time I saw the film it horrified me the way she was blasted backwards. eek

Definitely Vito's revenge on Don Ciccio.

The way De Niro just stares at Ciccio as he's being introduced is fantastic. You can almost imagine what's going through his mind at the time. "There he is...Don Ciccio...at last I shall have my revenge..."

Though it wasn't included in the poll (or in the final film for that matter - it was only included in the "Godfather Saga" as an additional scene) I would love to have voted for the scene when Vito attacks Ciccio's retired soldier with a boat oar while shouting "Give up the boy Vito Andolini!"

While its not my favorite murder that is definitly a great scene.

Michael just like Vito always made sure all business was settled.

I also voted for Don Ciccio ("e quest'e pe' te' in good Sicilian dialect). It was the most primally motivated, as Vito was avenging the death of his parents and his brother.

I voted for the Don Ciccio scene. He waited for 20 some odd years to seek revenge for the murders of his family members, and when he finally gets to Don Ciccio, IMO, its De Niro at his very, very best.

I also go for the killing of Don Ciccio, just for the reasons which are already mentioned.

I like the whole Louie's restaurnat scene, so I'll vote for the McCluskey/Sollozzo murders. I think the train sounds in his head made you feel the emotions Michael was going through. He went from a nice college boy to a member of "the family".
