Post here the names of movies from the 3o to 60's gangster films. Your insights and recommendations of films such as "Little Caesar", "Scarface", James Cagney films, etc...

I'll like to see the films and look for them.

Turnbull,

Far be it from me to question our expert but, the Asphalt Jungle wasn't a mob movie was it? Isn't that the one with Glen Ford, as a teacher in an inner city high school???? Or am I thinking of something else???

You were thinking of "The Blackboard Jungle."

Technically, "Waterfront" is a gangster movie, since "Johnny Friendly" (Lee J. Cobb) runs a union racket and has a nasty bunch of plug-uglies working for him (including former heavyweight contenduh Two-Ton Tony Galento). "Streetcar" has no gangster connection.

I would like to echo Turnbulls metion of Asphalt Jungle. The best Film Nior ever. Rent it today, you wont be sorry. Also Honor Thy Father, came out in the 70's at around the same time as godfather is OK but gives some info about the Bonannos.

Very good film! Outstanding performances by Joe Bologna, Brenda Vaccaro and the immortal Raf Vallone. Plus, our friend Richard Castellano has a strong supporting role. I highly recommend it.
