Let's unchain our imagination!

What if Apollonia did not die in Sicily and had gone to America with Michael? Would she had be an old-style traditional Sicilian wife (excellent cook, excellent in bed, excellent mother, no interference with hubby's businnes) or would she had become an all-American, disinhibited, self-determined modern woman? If Kay had tried to win Michael back anyway, what would had he done?

Apollonia's fans, it's up to you!!!! grin

You description of a Sicilian wife torments me.

I think she would have become "Americanized" to a degree, yet I tend to think she would always lean toward the "Sicilian" wife, not interferring in Michael's business and pretty much let him be the "boss" (so to speak). Also, I think her and mama Corleone would most likely have hit it off really well. wink

As far as Kay trying to win him back, I don't think she would try, but if she did, I suspect Appollonia would put up a pretty good fight. lol

If it makes you feel any better, consider that that description would fit a 50 years ago Sicilian wife! wink

She was so perfectly naive - I think she would be a perfect wife for Michael. She would adore him, never doubt his word, and everyone in the family will adore her. Mama will teach her cooking, Connie will drag her around shopping, Theresa Hagen will amuse herself educating her, everybody's children will adore playing noisy games with her, because she is almost a child herself. And Kay will make an ambush, on the nearest tree, and sit there with spyglass and sandwiches, trying to figure how to meet Mike alone. lol

keep your mouth shut, and your eyes open.

Ok, Lavinia, I'll unchain my imagination. Apollonia, upon arrival in NY would have quickly become the Amerigon wife, but with Sicilian roots. She would have shopped at Best and Co., but made a wicked lasagna. She would have driven a Coupe de Ville, but pulled Michael into the back seat for a little.....she would have dressed like a Vogue model, but undressed like a Playboy bunny, she would have be active in the local PTA, and read books to her kids every night. She would have demanded Michael's time with the family, but would have submitted to his desires. She would have been the wife I wanted to marry...APOLLONIA WHERE ARE YOU?!

Thanks, I feel better now.

Does anyone know where to find a current picture of the actress (Apalonia), or post it if you have it? I'm curious what she looks like now.
By the way, she would have been the perfect Italian wife, remember she knew Michael was a "friend of the friends" before she married him. Even though she was very young, she knew what she was getting into.

Hello Paisà,
i'm new in this MB and id like to add my comments about this tread.
It's just a curiosity and who knows that maybe u already know it.. smile anyway Violante Placido's father (Apollonia/Simonetta Stefanelli's husband)
is Michele Placido. The main actor of an italian mafia serial called LA PIOVRA aired here in the 80's and 90's.
