Although Vito was my favorite, I voted for Max Cady in question #1 to "pay my respects" for DeNiro's superb acting in a role that was quite a departure from his other roles. Foolish consistencies are the hobgoblins of little minds.

DeNiro is excellent, but Duvall gives the peformance of his career in this worthwhile film. The rest of the cast is outstanding, too. Turnbull: TRUE CONFESSIONS has come up before, of course. I couldn't agree with you more. A TRULY GREAT FILM. Definitely in my all time top 20. What a supporting cast, too: Burgess Meridith, Cyril Cusak, Charles Durning, Kenneth McMillan. And you're right; great more for Duvall than De Niro. "Difficult....not impossible"

He lifted that movie from a mediocre farce to a hilarious trip. the number of DeNiro movies I've seen: 27 (that's pretty much) now how about, his WORST roles I think he wasn't that great in: Men of Honor Analyze That This Boy's Life
