I have a theory that Al Pacino's character in "Insomnia" is a continuation of his character in "Heat" (even though they don't have the same name). Consider the following: Both are famous L.A. detectives; and both chew gum excessively.

Opinions?

Insomnia is some kind of extention of Memento (according to the director) Not the same characters but similar storys.

Vercetti,

I'm talking about the characters, not the plot-outline. And I'm not saying that they are the exact same chracters, just that they are similiar and maybe his character in "Insomnia" is loosely based on his character in "Heat".

Our beloved, Al Pacino has been typecast. He plays another cop-type, but in the new movie w/ Colin Farrell he's a CIA man or something. I heard that Simone was terrible so let's just throw that out of the window. If Pacino gets another cop role.......

I want to see Al in a role where he can flex his acting skills like how Nicholson does it in About Schmidt.

-A Streetcar Named Desire-

Stanley: You want a shot? (offers liquor)
Blanche: No, I rarely touch it.
Stanley: There's some people that rarely touch it, but it touches them often.

What kind of film could save his career?

I like that idea. They were great together in "Heat". But Pacino played a cop in that, so...

I ment a film that would save his career, not typecast him even more (though it would be neat to see him as a Mobster again).

Maybe more sinister roles like the Dvil's Advocate? Plus, he's not in career meltdown, just not as much flare. Insomnia was very good though.

Yes "Insomnia" was good, but "The Devil's Advocate" wasn't it.

Devil's Advocate was very good. Pacino did very good as a dark character like the devil. Especially just before he diped his finger in the holy water and made it boil, that look on his face as he looked at the angel paintings. Chilling.

DV, it kinda seems like you don't even read the post, you just answer it after reading the first line...

wtf do you mean by a tidbit? Why put a post down when you don't even answer the damn question the thread started with? That's my thought on it, i bet it's shared by others.

Just to share what I think of Al Pacino's role in Devil's advocate: It made me want to go to law school.

Vercetti,

"The Devil's Advocate" WAS a good movie, but it would have been a lot better if Reeves wasn't in it. I'm sorry, I just don't think that guy is a good actor (he's getting a little better). That was one of the worst southern accents I've ever heard. Pacino was great in it. So was the female lead (I forget her name).
