Well after a busy summer, I have decided to relax so I rented Donnie Brasco. After seeing this it gave me a whole different perception of the FBI. The most touching scene in the movie for me was when Pacino said to his wife, If donnie calls tell him i was glad it was him. That was quite possibly one of the best tear jerkers. Well, I am looking for some more mafia movies to watch so if you have any suggestions let me know.

Let me suggest-

"Analyse This"
"Goodfellas"
"A Bronx Tale"
"Godfather Trilogy" (of course)
"Casino"
"Micky Blue Eyes"

That's just a few off the top of my head, that list should keep you busy the rest of the summer.

Let me suggest another movie "Heat" it's not a mafia movie but it stars Robert De'Niro and Al Pacino. De'Niro takes down scores and Al Pacino is a detective on his trail. Both as usual put on a powerful performance. A must see movie!!

Hey Luca!

How did you like Micky Blue Eyes? I must admit, I was pleasantly surprised, as I am not into the light comedy thing! The gangster/mafia theme and James Caan is what draw me to see it, and it turned out to be pretty good!

Hiya Michael Barzini Donnie Brasco is a brill film and that part where he says that to his wife is a tear jerker I agree, plus some other stuff but anyway...I have to go along with the list my friend Luca gave you all good films, including the non mafia 'Heat'which I think is one of Deniros best roles. Also another excellent non mafia film is Al Pacinos Carlitos Way, you'll love it

If you can get a hold of it take a look at
the full version of Once Upon A Time in America.

Starring De Niro, James Woods, Elizabeth McGovern
and Joe Pesci it is about Jewish gangsters in
New York - set in the twenties, thirties and
late sixties.

Be warned that only the full version - which is around 4hrs long, is the one to see. There are various TV versions, which are pretty appalling.
They try and tell the story chronologically,
rather than using flashback and cut scenes that
were not to the censor's taste.

Enjoy - if you can get hold of.

I loved that movie TIS! Let me ask you this TIS how many Soprano stars where in "Micky Blue Eyes"

Luca,

That sounds like an excellent question, however I saw Mikey Blue Eyes way before I even saw the Sopranos since I don't have HBO. I rented the first two seasons just this past year, so I really couldn't tell you. But I am curious who they were and what part they played. (possibly James Gandolfini??)

One part I found particularly funny in Mikey Blue Eyes is when(sorry but I don't even remember the characters names anymore) they were burying a body and heard some noises and there just happend to be a couple buddies doing the same thing in the same exact area.!!! Do you remember which scene I am speaking of? I also thought that Hugh Grant was great with his dry humor and I loved that they played many Italian songs as well. Gee, I'm gonna have to rent that and see it again!!

Well TIS it's been a while since I've watched it, but I know exactly what scene your talking about.

James Caan and Hugh Grant go to that secluded spot to bury a body as well. On the other side of the dirt hill is 2 mobsters burying a body too. Those 2 mobsters are Big Pussy Bompensario (sp?) and the guy who played the F.B.I. agent after Tony on Sopranos.

I also remember a scene with them in a restaurant and the waitress comes to take their order and it's the woman who plays Janice, Tony's sister. But I recall I counted a total of 7 actors from Sopranos.

Thanks for responding TIS you struck my curiosity I'm going to watch it tomorrow night.
