DeNiro helped Pesci beat Batts because DeNiro saw how Batts disrespected Pesci. Pesci was minding his own business, hanging out with Henry and Jimmy, when Batts started to break his balls, for no apperent reason. Pesci and Batts had some words, and then decided to forget about it and have a drink. Batts then insults Pesci again. DeNiro saw this and knew that he had to help out his friend. Pesci was a psychotic guy throughout most of the movie, but I think he reacted, in the right way to Batts disrespect. The way DeNiro kicks Batts is hilarious, I cry, I laugh so hard, every time I see it.

First rule of Fight Club, you do not talk about Fight Club. Second rule of Fight Club, you DO NOT talk about Fight Club. Third rule of Fight Club, when someone say "stop" or goes limp, the fight is over. Fourth rule of Fight Club, only two guys to a fight. Fifth rule of Fight Club, one fight at a time. Sixth rule of Fight Club, no shirt, no shoes. Seventh rule of Fight Club, fights go on as long as they have to. Eighth and final rule of Fight Club if this is your first night at Fight Club you have to fight.

Yes, I do know why Jimmy helped Tommy. It's just that I thought Jimmy was much smarter than Tommy and wouldn't touch a "made man."

Exactly, I laugh so hard when I see De Niro kicking Batts. Classic!

Yes, I agree that it looks like the cool natural De Niro style, but I find it funny not because it looks fake, but it's so real that it's hillarious...it really looks like De Niro wanted to kick the shit out of Batts. I just love it, as you do to.

The "natural style" is a hallmark of Martin Scorsese's technique in "Goodfellas" and also in "Mean Streets." That entire Billy Batts scene (and the one following, with Scorsese's mother) is so natural-seeming that it's hard to believe that they were working from a script.

They made it up as they went. the mother came up with the idea.

After seeing Pesci in Home alone as a kid, and then him turning into the "Fuck this, Fuck that, Fuck you, you motherfucker you" Pesci in raging Bull, Casino, Goodfellas, lethal Weapons is amazing.

I mean when !i! was a kid not Pesci.

You're damn right that short Pesci will scare the shit out of you, he'll kill you with pen, he'll pop your eyes, out, he'll shoot you forstanding up for your manhood, he'll shoot you for bringighis drinks too slow.

"Go fuck yourself" BAng BAng! "You rat Motherfucker you"

just finished reading the "Wiseguy" by Nicholas Pileggi. few celebrities are mentioned in the book like. . .

Estee Lauder; the gang robbed her jewelries worth $1,000,000 which Henry Hill fenced. . .

Sammy Davis Jr.; sent a bottle of champagne to Henry and Karen while watching a show. . .

Tino Barzie; Frank Sinatra's manager. one of the regular buyer of airline tickets bought by the Gang using stolen credit cards. he buys this at 50% off and uses this to transport Sinatra and the group. . .

Yes, the book had lots of details that weren't in the movie (not that there's anything wrong with the movie, far from it). In addition to those you quoted, I liked the tale of Paulie busting up a restaurant 'cause he didn't like the way he was treated (how many times have you wanted to do the same?); and how Henry had to get circumsized in order to marry Karen, and walked around with a diaper for months. Remember that scene in the movie when Karen asks Henry for money to go shopping? Henry takes gives her a pile of greenbacks, and Karen, apparently grateful, bends down...you hear a zipper being unzipped...maybe she was checking his diaper?

You need to have an ending to a movie, and I thought that the way Mr. Scorcese ended it was great. Henry Hill is the narrator, and he was talking while the character was quietly answering the questions from the defense, so instead of just cutting to the final scene of the WP location, the walk through the court room seemed very smart and fitting. I thought it flowed great, and every time they show Jimmy's face when Henry points him out, I always look at the expression on Jimmy's wife's face. I don't know, I tend to follow mafia movies closely, paying attention to all the details. It doesn't hurt to watch them over and over, either!
