I agree, my brother absolutely loves that movie, but I wouldn't score it higher than 7. I liked it and everything, but it's definately not a master piece in my opinion, considering the only reason I watched it was because Andy Garcia was in it.

I'm Glad that you guys finally saw The Untouchables. I agree it's not the greatest movie of all time. But it's high on my list of gangster flicks.

I actually think it's a really good mob movie. The style is in teh same classic mode as the Godfather. You are right, it could have used more De Niro.

It was a good story....But I really didn't like the movie (oh, I loved the coats....I caught it was all sponsored by Armani)

I thought that Costner really ruined what could've been a very nice movie....But don't get me wrong, one of my favourite movie-quotes of all time is Deniro's: "You can get much farther with a gun and nice words, than you can get with nice words alone..."

I also remember laughing my @$$ off when Deniro and Costner were almost strangling each other and Deniro shouts "....YOU GOT NOTTTTTTIIIIINNNNN...."

"..Your youngest and strongest will fall by the sword.."

"...now you gotta speak more than one language to pull a heist..." Pudge Nichols

"...Never shall innocent blood be shed; yet the blood of the wicked shall flow like a river. The THREE shall spread their blackened wings and be the vengeaful striking hammer of God..."

I really loved Joe Pesci in Casino! Nicky Santoro, was a crazy, crazy man! You thought he was crazy in Goodfellas? watch him in Casino!
This second one may be a little off the topic. For playing an Italian in a movie I loved Dustin Hoffman in "Midnight Cowboy". Hoffman plays an AMAZING, lowlife, Enrico "Ratso" Rizzo! (The role was first offered to Pacino)

Yeah I happen the like The Untouchables, but yeah it's not a masterpiece like the Godfather.

But it's still good, considering I watched it cause it was about Al Capone(I've always considered him as one of my idols)

I liked this movie, despite Kevin Costner.

Is it just me or does he act exactly the same in all of his movies with one tiny exception - sometimes he has that fake southern accent and sometimes he doesn't.

I swear, he is the same in every movie. I really can't stand him, and in my opinion, The Untouchables would have been 3 million times better if any one else played Elliot Ness.

I think you've got something there. Costner's acting range are somewhat limited; he's an 'everyman' type of guy. But he's got a combination of brooding quality & good looks that does make him watchable. I've never minded him...thought he was pretty funny in Bull Durham, and just perfect as John Dunbar in his own masterpiece, Dances With Wolves. He was also pretty good in Field of Dreams. Never have seen The Untouchables, but I hear Sean Connery stole the show in that film, anyway.

I think he is a sissy and he makes me cringe everytime he is on screen. He ruined No Way Out (not sexy enough), and although I really liked The Untouchables, I was not impressed with his performance, wishing it was someone else cast as Eliott Ness. By the way, I loved Dances With Wolves a whole, but arghhhh! the sissy voice......

Doesn't Capone remind you of Sonny? Hot tempered, and that always got in the way of things

Wow...now THERE's a description Mr. Costner wouldn't want to see (sure made me laugh, though)!! But if memory serves, I recall learning here that Dolce is an Alec Baldwin fan. So her taste in men doesn't count.

Incidentally, I too felt Kevin Costner was misccast and WAY out of his league with NO WAY OUT. He really does need to stick w/ those 'everyman' roles....

The Untouchables is a great movie...But it lacked many things...I think they should have but a St. Valentine's Day massacre scene.....The film could have been so much better..But DePalma messed it all up.

I likewise agree regarding the Valentines M. Kevin Costner is so dull. It would have been better if Al Pacino (or anybody other then him did it).

Is the Untouchables DVD worth it? Does it have special features?

no Special Features but still worth buying. Robert De Niro did well as Al Capone. . .

The movie is ABOUT Untouchable Elliot Ness, NOT Scarface Al Capone. So saying less Ness, more Capone, Less Costner, mre DeNiro is kind of an oxymoron. Costner ruined the film? He was the star.

I particularly liked "I want him dead, i want his house burned to the ground, i want to go there in the middle of the night and piss in its ashes."

As opposed to your first one being on topic? Casino, and Goodfellas, in an Untouchables post?
