...would you have testified against your faithful partner? Or even testified against your boss?

Answer both questions and why too, please.

well, foist of all, I'm not an undercover FBI agent (or am I? )...and are ya talking about the movie or the book? totally different things, relaly. In the book, he doesn't have any second thoughts about testifying or coming out. In the movie...eh.

but if I went in knowing that I'd end up testifying, as long as I could stay alive, I'd come out and testify. stam.

What about your crime partner? He's been your man and a friend for six years.

Actually I'm talking about real life (book).

"There are some things I cannot do."

If he was my friend for six years, as close as the book makes it, then no, I would not testify against him. To me, that would by hurting what makes myself who I am.

No way would I EVER have testified. Donnie and Lefty got really close, and close friends don't rat on each other, no way no how. I don't see how Donnie did it, I suppose Donnie didn't really do it, it was Joseph, but I still think it's not right.

I wouldn't have been able to deal with the fact that Lefty would have died for sponsoring me. And I'd have to know they'd put a contract out on me. No way. I think I would have switched sides.
And think of the money aspect. How much money he could have made versus the $500 check he got from the FBI and the medal.

along with the look he had at the end of the movie as they all walked out, sorta like "in the mafia, they have a drink with you, give you a party, something. here they desert you."

I think you guys are confused, the movie had nothing to do with the book, not to make anyone mad but the only parts that are close to the real
life adventures of joe pistone are the killing scenes in which sonny blacks crew, some low life bonano thugs, slowly become the bonanos most powerful earners, lefty was not close to pistone but hated him very much, pistone however got close
to capo sonny black, thus sonny was whacked out before he could go to trial, pistone also brought down top bosses in miwaukie, florida and of course
new-york,benny died in prison, angry and bitter at
pistone,if anyone thinks that pistone did not partake in any of this crews crimes then think again, there is and was a code for a person who wanted into this(type of life)-you had to make your bones!

Right, off topic but how is the work fake spelt in Italian as Donnie says it for the rock. Its said fulgazie or something like that but I don't know how it is properlly spelt. I've tried translation websites but it gives me 'falso'.

Any idea's?

I'd do my job (or at least I'd like to think I would). If I was in the FBI, I'd have an obligation and job to do. I'd hope to be trained well enough not to be affected by my surroundings or the people. If it got to the point that I'd have to testify, then I'd know I did my job well.

HOWEVER -

If I was in La Costra Nostra, there's no way in Hell I'd put up with a rat bastard, and if I were Lefty and found out beforehand, I'd've taken care of the sonofabitch FBI agent.

It all depends on your persepective. The problem is getting personal when you mean business.

I studied Italian for 2 semesters. Not once was a "C" pronounced as a "G", and never was a trailing "I" ignored! And I'm from Jersey! tongue lol

I just saw the movie for the first time yesterday. I would testify because its my responsibility, and its what I get paid for. Those kind of people are trained not to get emotionally attached. Whether they do or not its there problem. I'm sure the FBI wouldn't take it if Donnie wouldn't have testified.

Cheers Ed for the spelling of my question.

I'll take a stab at the question. I would have to testify. It would be my job to, the whole purpose I was their. Otherwise I might be facing an obstruction to justice charge. I wouldn't want to go to prison for these guys. Why should I? I work for the FBI.

Donnie got too involved and that is what would make it hard to testify. But you have to put things into perspective aswell.

Someone said they would have switched sides. (I forget who) and that would be the easiest thing to do apart from the whole FBI knows everything about you. No chance, it wouldn't work.

Don't get me wrong. I mean i'm against rat fu**ers. But Donnie, I mean Joe Pistone, wasn't truly mafioso. Pistone hasn't done anything other than his job. However, someone like "The Bull", this is a guy who is a real rat. He should never have done what he did. But after hearing some FBI Tapes he believed Gotti was going to place alot of blame and crimes on him so they played against each other. Sammy came off on top.

Theres no real codes or laws any more with La Cosa Nostra. It's all "look out for number 1".
