The subject of favorite Godfather characters has been well discussed, but who (and why) is your favorite NON-Godfather (cinema or tv) North American or overseas mobster / mafia character (preferably fictional) and can you offer any serious or humorous comment/s on what is it about them that you dig.

Don't respond if mentioning a Godfather character.

Although I disapprove of your "Patronizing" tone of the question, I will not disappoint.

I wouldn't say he's my favourite but I do admire his character to an extent similar to that I do for Vito Corleone. That character I'm mentioning would be THE DEVIL, otherwise known as Kaiser Soze. It was the main "bad guy" in "The Usual Suspects". I'm not sure if he qualifies as "Mafia" since he's not Sicilian, but still he amazes me.

Another one could be the character of Max played by James Woods in Once Upon a Time in America.

That's it for now, I'll come back if I remember anything different.

Check my name out. Also his cousin.

Plus what Brady said about Astorre Viola too. I agree with Sonny on Max in Once upon a time....And theres plenty of great characters in Casino, Goodfellas etc.

I just saw on the Godfather board someone mention Fat Tony from the simpsons and I realised how cool he is. Fat Tony is another because when you hear him speak, its just Joey Zaza. Pmills, your not off to shoot me for this link to the Godfather are you?

I really like Andy Garcia's Jimmy the Saint in Things to do in Denver when you're dead.

I have to agree with Sonny, and say "Kaiser Soze".

If you haven't already seen "The Usual Suspects", do so! Its a great movie, with a few twists that will have you in awe.

Kaiser Soze, although not born in Sicily, is definitely a Sicilian (according to Vito's definition).

very funny, and very TRUE. "...can you imagine the nerve on this guy??" (Sonny to Tom regarding Sollozzo)

Livia Soprano.

Since watching the whole Godfather DVD Collection, I started to watch Sopranos Season 1 DVD again. Boy is she ever ruthless, maddon' she tried to have her own son whacked.

I would have to go with Kaiser Soze, Sonny, Micheal, Armand Assante as Gotti, and Vito Corleone.

right. Tony Montana is definently a top choice.

And Joe Pesci in Casino..."Nicky Santora" was his characters name. And he was a rutless son of a gun also. Too bad he got whacked at the end..literally.

I like Bob Hoskins' character in The Long Good Friday, he has the East End gangster down pretty well. Also the Kemp twins out of Spandau Ballet do a nice job with the Krays.

My favorite is Tony Soprano...maybe its just the fact that the guy was taking Lithium and Prozac at the same time and still ruled the school...??
He is the scariest type of bad guy because you never know if he'll love you or kill you. I will jump on the Tony Montana train as well, though I usually don't follow other peoples acts..I seem to be doing a good job of it now.

I'd have to say Chris Moltisanti from The Sopranos because he is so frequently mentioned and yet holds no real importance to the show. they must be planning to use him soon because his quick rise to the top must have some afteraffects.
