Since most people here agreed that the movie (The Sicilian) was bad, who would you cast for a new production?
You can make suggestion for the main rules.

Behind every great furtune there is a crime - Balzac (The Godfather's Moto).

I did answer this in the other thread and the truth is I read the book too long ago and I think that it wouldn't be fair to give my honest opinion. However I do have many ideas for director. The best possible director for The Sicilian 2006 or 2007 or whatever, would be in my opinion:

F. F. Coppola, J. Dahl, B. De Palma, S. Gaghan, B. Levinson, M. Mann, G. Ritchie, M. Scorcese, J. Sheridan, S. Soderbergh, O. Stone, or Quentin Tarantino.

My choice as a director would probably be F. F. Coppola, or
Ron Howard. Why Ron Howard? He's making the Da Vinci Code...maybe he could do a good Sicilian. It's possible...

Ok except Guy Ritchie is a fuckwit I wouldn't let him direct traffic.

Yeah, but who would play Micheal Corleone?

I read the novel not long ago, but I've never seen the movie. It's a decent story, although the Godfather characters seemed to be added in as afterthoughts.

Am I correct in saying that there was a real Salvatore Giuliano? I've always wondered how much of the Sicilian culture portrayed in Puzo's books was Puzo's exaggeration or invention.

Yes, he was real, but the real person and Puzos are very differant. And of course the real person and the one in the movie are even more differant.
