Question for Carol Gino -

I know this goes back before your time with Mr. Puzo, but I was wondering about how he felt about his well-publisized row with Frank Sinatra.

I've read some accounts that the two of them were in the same restaurant shortly after the book came out, and supposedly Sinatra was furious. (According to one account) they approached each other "ready to do battle" and they had to be separated by members of their respective entourages. (From the pictures I've seen of Mario, my money would have been on him).

Being that this was a widely known incident, did Mr. Puzo ever speak of this?

End note: I certainly don't want to put you in a position of breaking any confidences you and Mr. Puzo had in private conversations, and if you'd rather not answer this, I certainly understand.

I posted something about this somewhere... do you remember?

"It is no secret that organized crime in America takes in over forty billion dollars a year. This is quite a profitable sum, especially when one considers that the Mafia spends very little for office supplies."

"I'm going to blame some of the people in this room. And that, I do not forgive."

Think twice about Sinatra . He may be small but if accounts are true . He's a real tough guy . And Puzo , even twice the size would've went down. No doubt

Mario had great respect for Sinatra's voice. He was convinced to approach Sinatra in a restaurant and Sinatra did have a fit (supposedly over the scenes in the Godfather that presented him as a wimp) but Mario never spoke badly about him, and just said it was like a couple of street kids fighting with each other good naturedly. He understood, he always said, why Sinatra didn't want to be bothered while he was eating. And a few years ago, at a dinner party, Tina Sinatra told us that her father never spoke badly of Mario either. So...I leave you with the truths I know.

Yes. In the papers, it has all the details. BTW, in the papers, I still don't get the chapter: How Crime keeps America Happy.

CamillusDon, can you answer my question in another thread?

Thanks,
Bogus
